Barker banks big money following Joe Crist Memorial win at US 36

(July 30) – After a heartwarming opening ceremony set the stage for US 36 Raceway’s Joe Crist Memorial, Travis Barker went home with the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win and $2,062. Barker, already eligible to qualify for the B & B Chassis All-Star Invitational, and Conner Masoner started on the front row and set the pace for the star-studded event. Barker got the lead and saw Shadren Turner charge by and slide past, but not for long as Barker held the high line to perfection and drove back by Turner. As Barker paced the field, Chad Clancy worked his way toward the front to challenge for the lead, pressuring Barker to make a bobble. Racing was fierce as throughout the field as Kasey Ayers challenged the frontrunners. Doug Keller was in contention all night as he, J.J. Baumli and Ayers battled. Laney, Shryock win big at Kossuth County Salute to Veterans

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (July 29) – Returning to the home of its birthplace five years ago, night number two of the Hunting With Heroes Salute to Veterans was a huge success as Cody Laney in the IMCA Modifieds and Kelly Shryock in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars were the big winners of the huge show at the Kossuth County Speedway. The grandstand was packed with many veterans and race fans for the exciting night of dirt track racing. Laney was the biggest winner of the evening money-wise as he led all 20 laps in the Modified feature to earn the $4,500 first place check. The 24-car field did a great job as the race went green to checkered without a hitch. Laney, who started on the inside of the front row, and Zane DeVilbiss, who manned the outside of the front row, broke away early from the field. Carter cashes in on another big payday at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (Aug. 1) – When big money is on the line, Cayden Carter is the man to beat. Already the winner of the Urbana 5 Memorial last month, Carter picked up $1,250 Sunday night in the KISS Country 96.5 IMCA Modifieds during Autism Awareness Night at Benton County Speedway. From a second row start, Carter pursued Tommy Belmer and Chris Snyder at the onset of the 20-lapper before working his way into the lead. Carter built a straightaway advantage while Troy Cordes raced the top side into second from a fourth row start. Cordes cut into the sizable deficit and was able to stick his nose to the inside of the race leader in the final set of turns, however Carter held on to take top honors. Third annual Scorezit Cornhole Tournament open for registration

BOONE, Iowa – Cornhole competitors will have two chances to win championships, and a lot of money, during the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Two tournaments will be held during the upcoming Super Nationals, with 64 two-person teams vying for shares of a $2,560 purse on Sunday, Sept. 5 and 48 two-person teams battling it out for shares of $1,920 on Friday, Sept. 10. Entry fee for each is $40 and both double elimination tournaments have a 100 percent payback. Payout for the top six teams on Sunday are $972 for first, $716 for second, $486 for third, $256 for fourth, $78 for fifth and $52 for sixth. On Friday, payout amounts are $728 for first, $546 for second, $364 for third, $182 for fourth, $60 for fifth and $40 for sixth. $250 Sunoco bonus for Late Model winners in Iowa this weekend

VINTON, Iowa – Extra money is on the line for the winner of a pair of main events for IMCA Sunoco Late Models this weekend. The next two installments of the $250 Sunoco Race Fuels bonus will be paid to the July 30 Late Model winner at Marshalltown Speedway and the July 31 Late Model winner at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson. Sunoco bonuses will be presented at IMCA Late Model sanctioned tracks in 2021. Drivers are eligible for one bonus during the racing season. Winners so far this year have been Matt Ryan at 300 Raceway in Farley, followed by Sean Johnson at Independence Motor Speedway, Andy Eckrich at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Ron Klein at Dubuque Speedway, and most recently in Nebraska to Kyle Prauner at U.S. 30 Speedway in Columbus, Chase Osborne at Boone County Raceway in Albion, and to Brock Carlson at Off Road Speedway in Norfolk. IMCA will announce mid-week before the dates bonuses are to be awarded at each track.

Five familiar faces find victory lane at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (July 25) – With the weekly points battles entering the final month of the season, drivers who’d already experienced success this season at Benton County Speedway made return trips to the winner’s circle Sunday night at The Bullring. Although it had been nearly two months since his most recent win on the quarter-mile, KISS Country 96.5 IMCA Modified driver Troy Cordes showed why he’s the point leader in the 20-lapper for that division. From a third row start, Cordes worked the top side into contention and past early race leader Jesse Belez prior to the midway point. He then set sail to drive to his fifth win of the season ahead of a charging Dylan Thornton. Jeff Aikey, Derrick Stewart and Mark Schulte completed the top five. Rookie schools IMCA RaceSaver foes at Bloomsburg

(July 25) – Rookie Zack Bealer found a way around Bloomsburg Fair Raceway that nobody else could match and scored his first win in a full-sized sprint car in Sunday’s IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature co-sanctioned by the Pennsylvania Sprint Series and the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series. The former micro-sprint driver, running regularly with MASS, already had amassed two top-five finishes and four top-10’s in just six starts, including a seventh at Bridgeport Speedway in his first RaceSaver start, the season-opening co-sanctioned event for both groups. He announced early Sunday he might be ready to do even better at Bloomsburg, coming from ninth starting position to finish fourth in his heat. Hughes puts new IMCA Stock Car in Fairgrounds Speedway victory lane

CORTEZ, Colo. (July 16) – After a month away from the track putting final touches on a new race car, Jeramy Hughes parked that 2020 Terminator ride in victory lane at Fairgrounds Speedway. The July 16 victory was the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car first in 2-1/2 years for the Farmington, N.M., driver. He start on the pole and led flag-to-flag while battling power steering issues all weekend. “It was a huge relief to know I can still compete. I was starting to doubt myself there for a while,” Hughes said afterwards. “I saw Aaron’s (Spangler) nose one time and knew I had to get up on the wheel.” Hughes started his IMCA career in 2013. Ryan Peery sweeps IMCA Pacific SportMod Showdown

By Ben Deatherage WHITE CITY, Ore. (July 24) – Southern Oregon Speedway wrapped up the IMCA Pacific SportMod Showdown on Saturday for Dusty’s Transmission Night. The 40-lap, $2,500 to win feature had 41 Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods on hand. When the green flag flew for the main event, Travis Peery, took control of the top spot to lead the opening lap. However, it was a short-lived reign as his son Ryan, winner from the previous night at White City, seized control by lap three. Travis rebounded to edge out Ryan on lap four. Unfortunately, due to a caution, the pass was nullified, handing back the position to Ryan Peery. Six more stoppages were to be had for the rest of the race resulting in heavy lapped traffic being taken out of the picture but restarts even more critical. Reimers takes second Boone checkers of season

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (July 24) – It was Christmas in July at the Boone Speedway on Saturday night and Santa himself was there to greet the youngsters. Christmas music filled the air and decorations were around every corner. However, the 90 degree temperatures didn’t feel like the holiday season!The IMCA STARS Mod Lites kicked off feature racing. At the end of the 15-lap race, it was Mike Kennedy standing in victory lane for the third time this season. Kennedy started 10th and ran down leader Cory Sonner by lap eight, but it wasn’t until that final lap that he was able to make the pass in turn two and go home to secure the win. Sonner had to be content with the runner up spot. Third went to fifteenth place starter Joe Glick, who was hard charger of the race.
