IMCA’s 2014 EQ Wild West Tour ends with Sweetwater twinbill

ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. – The final checkers fall this weekend for the eighth annual EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Tour. Traveling IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds are at Sweetwater Speedway for $1,000 to win, Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying events on Friday, Sept. 12 and Saturday, Sept. 13. The Wild West Tour All-Star Race is also on the weekend card. Pit gates at Rock Springs open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. both days. Hot laps are at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Grandstand admission is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors 60 and older and kids ages 6-12, and free for five and under. Pit passes are $25. IMCA Spectacular ends Buffalo River Race Park season this weekend

GLYNDON, Minn. – IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds race for $1,000 to win on the final night of the season at Buffalo River Race Park. All applicable IMCA points will be awarded for Fargo Tractor IMCA Spectacular presented by Performance Auto shows on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 13 and 14. Modifieds chase a $750 top check on Saturday and earn a minimum of $100 by starting the main event both days. Two $1,000 to win IMCA Modified features at Billings’ Rebel Run special

BILLINGS, Mont. (Sept. 9) – A pair of $1,000 to win features for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds are on the card this weekend at Billings Motorsports Park. Both Friday, Sept. 12 and Saturday, Sept. 13 Rebel Run races are 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifiers and pay a minimum of $100 to start. All IMCA points, including local track, will be awarded. Non-qualifiers will get tow money if there are more than 20 entries. Pit gates open at 3:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. both days. Hot laps precede 7 p.m. racing. There is no entry fee. Both car and driver and pit passes are $25. Grandstand admission is $14 for adults, $10 for seniors and students ages 12-17, $5 for kids ages 7-11 and free for six and under. FARLEY, Iowa (Sept. 9) – Drivers in one IMCA special series contend for their biggest payday of the season while another tour comes to a conclusion this weekend during the 37th annual Yankee Dirt Track Classic at Farley Speedway. IMCA Late Models on the Deery Brothers Summer Series circuit race for $3,000 to win and a mini­mum of $300 to start on Friday, Sept. 12. The stakes are much higher for the Saturday, Sept. 13 tour event, a 100-lapper that pays a hefty $7,500 to win and a minimum of $500 to start. Late arrival Werkmeister, Temeyer top Stock Car qualifiers BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 5) – He got to town late but Casey Werkmeister joined Justin Temeyer as a Stock Car qualifying feature winner at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Ca­sey’s on Friday night. A high school football coach, Werkmeister was on the sidelines when his team won on Thursday, drove part of the way to Boone after the game and completed the trip the next morning. He promptly won his heat, started third in the opening qualifier and sped to the win ahead of Rick Mahlberg, Michael Jaennette and Stefan Sybesma. Temeyer made his way to the front after starting 10th in the nightcap. John Heinz, Jake Masters and 13th starting Scott Pippert were next across the stripe. BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 5) – Kyle Strickler enjoyed the privilege of racing with a lot of his idols as much as he did winning Friday’s Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational at Boone Speedway. Strickler led the last 23 circuits in the 30-lap Modified feature, on night five of the IMCA Speedway Mo­tors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. He earned $1,230 – including lap money – for the vic­tory, which came almost half a straightaway ahead of defending race winner Todd Shute. “This is such a big event. Winning this race ranks right up there,” he said. “When you look at the names of the drivers that were in it, a lot of them are my idols.
