Mullen cashes in at Clash at the Creek VII

By Greg Aregoni FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. (June 25) – In 2014, Mike Mullen started on the pole for 141 Speedway’s 50 lap, $10,000 to win Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature. There were rumblings that there was no passing and that all he did was stay out in front of the field. Mullen quieted the naysayers Thursday night and proved why he is one of the top IMCA Modified drivers in the nation. Mullen won the last-chance qualifier, started 14th on the main event field and picked up his second straight Clash at the Creek win. The new Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier raced his way into the lead with six laps left and took the rich checkers ahead of Shawn Kilgore, Russ Reinwald, Jeff Taylor and Johnny Whitman. Deery drivers make rare visit to Kossuth County for July 2 show

ALGONA, Iowa – The Deery Brothers Summer Series makes an early holiday weekend visit to Kossuth County Speedway for a Thursday, July 2 show. The eighth of 18 events on the 2015 IMCA Late Model tour schedule pays $3,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Darrel DeFrance of Marshalltown has competed at all 441 events in Deery Series history and was the winner back on July 31, 2008, when the tour made its one previous appearance at Algona. Pit gates and the grandstand both open at 5:30 p.m. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. with racing to follow. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults with fans ages 16 and under free. Pit passes are $30. IMCA Late Model Futurity at Des Moines to be rescheduled

DES MOINES, Iowa – Rain and resulting flooding conditions have resulted in cancellation of the June 26 race program at the Iowa State Fairgrounds Speedway in Des Moines. The $3,000 to win Jim’s Johns Late Model Futurity is to be rescheduled.

Grizzle sizzles at Tri-City’s Greased Pig 5.0

AUBURN, Mich. (June 19) – Heath Grizzle put the sizzle into Tri-City Motor Speedway’s Greased Pig 5.0 special. The Michigan native and Arkansas transplant regained the lead from Myron DeYoung in topping the $1,055 to win Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds. DeYoung, still in pursuit of his 100th career win in the sanctioned division, was close behind in second. Joe Fowler, Gary VanderMark and Ken Zeigler completed the top five. Grizzle drew the pole start and led the first seven circuits before DeYoung used the lower line to get past. Two laps later, Grizzle found an opening and took the lead right back. DeYoung and A.J. Ten locked in for $10,000 to win Clash at the Creek IMCA Modified main event

By Greg Aregoni FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. – Ten Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified drivers have punched their tickets into tonight’s $10,000 to win Clash at the Creek main event at 141 Speedway. Johnny Whitman will have the pole for the 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier with Justin O’Brien to his outside. Eric Mahlik and Russ Reinwald comprise row two, Brad Lautenbach and Shawn Kilgore row three. Tim Czarneski starts inside row four with Benji LaCrosse gunning for IMCA Modified career win number 100 from the outside. Rookie Brian Irvine and James Tebon fill row five. Seventy-four IMCA Modifieds ran two sets of Wednesday heats that saw the top 10 in passing points automatically make up the front five rows. Ward shows the way at Kossuth County

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (June 18) – Tim Ward showed the way to the winner’s circle in weekly racing at Kossuth County Speedway. Using the same high line that took Ryan Watnem out to a big lead early on, Ward gained the lead with four laps left and stayed in front to the finish of an Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified main event that ran caution-free. Watnem was second and Tad Reutzel took third. Once out in clean air, Jake Masters pulled away from the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car field for his first feature win at Algona this summer. Heath Tulp was the runner-up with Dan Hanselman taking third. Ben Schultze finally wrestled the lead away from Colby Fett and went onto the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod victory, his first of the year at Kossuth County Speedway. Murray tames Modified foes at Dawson County

By Kelly Ninas LEXINGTON, Neb. (June 21) – David Murray Jr. tamed his Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified foes in front of a capacity crowd Sunday at Dawson County Raceway. Murray worked his way through the field and took charge on the final go around. Jay Steffens led the first 19 circuits before giving way to Murray, Colton Osborn and Anthony Roth. Kyle Clough led the last two laps in winning the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature and Josh Leonard was promoted to the top spot when the apparent Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod winner was disqualified in post-race tech. Jacob Olmstead raced from deep in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock field and ran in front the last four laps.

LaCrosse leads the way at Seymour

By Dave Panske SEYMOUR, Wis. (June 21) – Benji LaCrosse became the first local repeat winner in the division with his 99th career Budweiser IMCA Modified victory Sunday at Seymour Speedway. LaCrosse started outside row five and was running second to Rob Charapata by the sixth circuit. He dove to the inside for the lead on lap 14 and held off Mike Wedelstadt, already a member of the IMCA 100 career wins club, following a lap 18 restart. Travis Van Straten was half a car length faster than Brandon Czarapata in the Coors Light IMCA Stock Car main event. Point leader Jeremy Cota flew from 10th starting to first at the finish of the O’Reilly Auto Parts IMCA Northern SportMod feature.
