You’ve got to put your best foot forward there every night.” After lining up alongside Jeff Aikey and in front of Denny Eckrich on opening night, Holladay found something on the top side of the track and caught Rob Toland for the lead with 10 laps to go. He drew the outside pole start for night two and passed Ron Boyse en route to his second win. “I have a new crew chief, ‘Big’ Mike Dieckman, and he’s been a big part of our success,” said Holladay. “This is my first year in a [Read More]

A late caution resulted in a green, white, checkered finish and Riley denied a final charge by Fetterman to take the victory, his third this season at Jefferson including opening night of the South Dakota Spring Nationals. Behind the lead duo, “B” feature winner David Miller completed a charge through the field for third ahead of Damon Richards and Matt Baker Thirty-two drivers checked in and sought shares of a Hobby Stock purse topping $3,000. Day has best night in Sprint Series of Texas show at Boothill Speedway

GREENWOOD, La. (May 14) – Jeff Day crossed the state line to race his way to victory lane in a second IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Car tour Saturday night. Day topped the Sprint Series of Texas feature at Louisiana’s Boothill Speedway, outrunning Jason Howell to the checkers. Day’s son Michael, Dustin Woods and Ty Johnson completed the top five. The 25-lapper was interrupted by just a single caution and the frontrunners had to negotiate traffic much of the way. Michael Day started on the pole, directly in front of his father, and led early. Howell came up to contend before Jeff Day opted for a higher line around the oval at Greenwood. “Jason pretty much showed me the top in (turns) three and four,” Day said. “Once I found the line we pretty much ran the race out and got the win.” “The track was slick and had a good cushion,” added Day, also the winner of an Elite Non-Wing Series event this spring. “I was able to get through lapped traffic with slide jobs.” [Read More]

Callahan cashes in at Quad City Deery

EAST MOLINE, Ill. (May 15) – What looked to be another night for a Deery Brothers Summer Series rookie to shine ended with veteran Joel Callahan in victory lane instead Sunday at Quad City Speedway. First-year IMCA Late Model tour driver Cayden Carter led the first 32 times around the East Moline oval before Callahan caught up and led to the $2,000 checkers. Carter ended in second while Tyler Droste, the winner at Quad City last July and 2015 series rookie of the year, took third. “We can usually run the low side when we need to and it worked well for us tonight,” Callahan said following his career fourth series victory, and first away from Farley Speedway. “There were a couple times at midway when I got alongside but couldn’t get past. I had the advantage of running second but he (Carter) was tough.” Carter had started outside the front row and set sail from the top side. Callahan drew the fifth starting spot and stayed glued to the bottom. The last 39 laps [Read More]
