IMCA Atomicwraps.com Empire State Series visits Skyline during Turbo Blue Fall Classic 

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Skyline Raceway Park’s Turbo Blue Fall Classic provides the setting for Saturday’s Atomicwraps.com Empire State Series event. Touring Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds race for $400 to win and a minimum of $75 to start the Sept. 17 feature. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Dirt Works Eastern Region and Allstar Performance State points, as well as special series points will be awarded. Pit gates and the grandstand both open at 3 p.m. Hot laps are at approximately 4:45 p.m. with racing at 5:30 p.m. There is no entry fee and pit passes are $35. Grandstand admission is $13 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, and free for kids eight and under. Three-time and defending series champion Eddie Sites and Michigan long tow A.J. Two disqualified following Modified Challenge tire testing 

ADA, Minn. – Two drivers have been disqualified from finishes in the Sanders Modified Challenge feature at Norman County Raceway, as a result of post-race tire testing. Samples were taken from tires from the two finishers in each heat; those taken from the tires of Billy Vogel and Jamie Trautner failed to meet IMCA benchmarks. Both drivers have been fined $1,000, were suspended for 30 days and lost all IMCA points accrued during the season.

Great Lakes Nationals prize is $3,000 for IMCA Modifieds 

CRYSTAL, Mich. – Three thousand dollars and a spot on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot are at stake at this weekend’s Great Lakes Nationals. Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds running Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 17 and 18 at Crystal Motor Speedway earn a minimum of $300 to start, along with IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Dirt Works Eastern Region and Allstar Performance State points. The Modified feature will be 50 laps. Pit gates open at 1 p.m. Saturday. The grandstand opens and hot laps start at 4 p.m. with the first heat at 6 p.m. On Sunday, the pit gate opens at noon, the grandstand opens at 1 p.m. and racing starts at 3 p.m. Adult grandstand admission is $25 for both days, $15 for Saturday or $20 for Sunday. JEFFERSON, S.D. – Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win both nights of Park Jefferson Speedway’s Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 17 and 18 Iron Cup special. Both features are qualifying events for the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot and pay a minimum of $100 to start. Huge weekend doubleheader for Sprint Series of Oklahoma

By David Smith Jr. ARDMORE, Okla. – A pivotal weekend in the battle for the inaugural point championship takes place this weekend as the Sprint Series of Oklahoma is set for a doubleheader weekend this coming Friday and Saturday, Sept. 16 and 17. It all kicks off on Friday night as the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car Series make its fourth and final appearance of the season at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore. The SSO will then take to the road and head northwest to Longdale, Okla., Speedway for its inaugural appearance at the speedway. They will be joined by the Kansas based United Rebel Sprint Car Series (URSS) in much anticipated event between the two series on “neutral” ground. Thornton’s third Saturday win at Super Nationals is biggest of IMCA career 

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 10) – Ricky Thornton Jr. rated his third win of the day Saturday at Boone Speed­way as the biggest of his IMCA Modified career. After racing from 30th to first to win his IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Ca­sey’s qualifying feature and start on the front of the outside row of the main event, Thornton won the Harris Auto Racing Race of Champions. He finished third behind Jimmy Gustin and Jeremy Mills in the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational, then ended the night by winning the Modified main event – and $7,000. “This is the biggest win of my career,” said Thornton, from Chandler and the second Arizona driver in Super Nationals history to earn the Modified crown. “To be one of the guys who has won this race is huge.” Thornton had won both the 100th feature of his IMCA career and the $10,001 to win Legendary at Dacotah Speedway earlier this season.
