RPM hosts IMCA Hughes Sunflower Classic this weekend

HAYS, Kan. – The first green flag of the new season flies when RPM Speedway opens with its Mike ‘Huey’ Hughes Sunflower Classic on Friday and Satur­day, March 29 and 30.

IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win each night at Hays. Both features are qualifying events for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational bal­lot.

Also running both nights are IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars for $750 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods both for $500 to win.

Mach-1 Sport Com­pacts race for $200 to win on Saturday.

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, re­gional and E3 Spark Plugs Kansas State points will be awarded at the seventh annual event. 

Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m. on Friday. Gates open at noon and racing gets underway at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Gates open at 3 p.m. and the Thursday, March 28 open practice starts at 6 p.m.

Pit passes are $25 on Thursday and $30 on Friday and Saturday. Entry fees each night are $40 for Modifieds, $30 for Stock Cars, $20 for Hobby Stocks and SportMods, and $15 for Sport Compacts.

Transponders and RACEceivers are required. Re­served parking will be observed.
