$5,000 is top prize at RPM’s inaugural First Class Chassis Stock Car Shootout

HAYS, Kan. – The inaugural IMCA Sunoco Stock Car Shootout May 27-29 at RPM Speed­way  offers not only $5,000 to the winner, but many contingency prizes and awards also.  

RPM staff have been hard at work to ensure the Shootout, presented by First Class Chassis, is the biggest paying prize money and contingency event the Great Plains has ever seen.

“The IMCA Stock Cars are one of the most competitive classes right now.” stated speedway co-promoter Wade Porter.  Porter ,along with Rod Bencken promote the highly successful 3/8-mile speedplant in Hays, Kan. 

“The Stock Cars put on three- and four-wide racing on any given night and we wanted to show­case that here in Kansas for the nation to see,” commented Bencken.

A unique qualifying procedure will be used for the Stock Cars. Drivers will draw for their starting sports on Tuesday for one of two heat races they will compete in. Drivers will earn passing points that qualify for Wednesday night lineups. The second heat race will be a complete invert of their first heat race.  

Night two at Hays will see last-chance heats along with a last-chance feature qualifying them for the 24-car minimum $400 to start main event on night two. There is a $150 entry fee

IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods race for $500 to win Tues­day and Wednesday, draw/redraw shows each night. 

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and E3 Spark Plugs State points, but no track points will be awarded each night.

Pits open at 3 p.m., the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. both days. Grand­stand admission is $15 for adults and free for kids 12 and under while pit passes are $30 or $10 for kids 12 and under accompanying a parent or guardian. 

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. for the Monday, May 27 test ‘n tune session, which starts at 6 p.m. Pit passes are $25 for adults and $10 for accompanied kids ages 12 and under.
