34 Raceway rolls out red carpet for April 1 Deery Series opener

WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa – The track that hosted the first Deery Brothers Summer Series event rolls out the red carpet for the first IMCA Late Model tour event of the season next Satur­day, April 1. The Deery Series returns to 34 Raceway for a $2,000 to win, minimum $300 to start opening night feature. Forty-eight previous events have been held at West Burlington, more than at any other track, in the tour’s 30-year history. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded, as will special series points, as the tour switches to IMCA’s 40-point system. BRIDGEPORT, N.J. – The stage is set. The schedule is official. Teams are anxious to start bat­tling. The IMCA RaceSaver Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series, with the headline sponsor Engler Machine and Tool at the helm, will start its points chase at the fastest track in the east, Bridge­port Speedway in New Jersey, on Sunday, April 30. MASS Sprints can officially announce their schedule with stops in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware, at tracks such as Bridgeport, Grandview, Delaware International, Big Diamond, Georgetown, Williams Grove and Susquehanna Speedways. This diverse schedule will test drivers’ skill and stamina as teams battle throughout the season to crown a champion. ‘Pretty good weekend’ starts with Gould’s 100th career win

CALERA, Okla. – The weekend that William Gould described as “pretty good” began with his IMCA Modified career 100th feature win and ended with his 101st. Gould used a late restart to take the lead and the milestone Modified checkers on March 17 at Heart O’ Texas Speedway. He raced to the front from eighth starting and won going away in the Kennedale Speedway Park 20-lapper the next night. “We had a pretty good weekend,” said Gould. “I probably had a third-place car Friday but the cau­tion came out with two laps to go. I was lucky to win, period.” “On Saturday, the track was racy and we were able to get our third straight win,” he added. Taylor scores two wins at Arkansas Spring Nationals

BATESVILLE, Ark. (March 17-18) – The story was similar for both nights of Batesville Motor Speedway’s Arkansas Spring Nationals. Jeff Taylor raced his way to the lead in both Friday and Saturday IMCA Modified features and led to the finish of each $1,250 to win event. “The car was good, the track was racy and I could go where I wanted to,” summarized Taylor, who had started third on opening night and sixth on night two. Taylor was already on the ballot for the upcoming Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Robby Arnold, Drew Armstrong, Wayne Brooks and Clay Norris completed Friday’s top five. Sprint Series of Oklahoma season kicks off Saturday night 

By David Smith Jr. OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – It’s time for the long-awaited season opener for the Sprint Series of Oklahoma IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car series presented by Smiley’s Racing Products as it opens its sophomore season this Saturday night, March 25, at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore. This event will also be race two for the Sprint Series of Texas IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car Series. Defending inaugural series and IMCA Sprint Car national champion Andy Shouse will be back to defend his crowns while series runner-up Joe Wood Jr. looks to garner championship honors this season. IMCA Modifieds headline Tri-State Speedway’s 38th annual Kegger 

POCOLA, Okla. – Top prize for IMCA Modifieds is $1,500 at Tri-State Speedway’s 38th annual Cecil Harlan Memorial Kegger Friday and Saturday, March 24 and 25. The 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier pays a minimum of $200 to start. NASCAR veteran Ken Schrader will be among the competitors this weekend at Pocola. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Jet Racing Central Region and Allstar State points, but no local track points, will be given. Menasco Racing Enterprises gives a $500 bonus to the driver making the long tow. Entry fee is $100. Pit gates open at 4 p.m., the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. and racing follows 6:30 p.m. hot laps both days. Adult grandstand admission is $10 on Friday and $12 on Saturday; kids ages 6-12 get in for $5 each night. Pit passes are $30 on Friday and $35 on Saturday. RPM’s 5th annual Sunflower Classic features five IMCA divisions

HAYS, Kan. – Five IMCA divisions are on the weekend card when RPM Speedway opens the 2017 sea­son with its fifth annual Sunflower Classic special this Friday and Saturday, March 24 and 25. IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win each night and both features are qualifying events for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational bal­lot. Also running both nights are IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars for $750 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods both for $500 to win and Mach-1 Sport Com­pacts run for $200 to win.
