World Nationals Hangover has $1,000 top prize for IMCA Modifieds

VINTON, Iowa – IMCA Modifieds are in the running for $1,000 to win at Benton County Speedway’s Sunday, April 2 World Nationals Hangover. The feature is a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot-qualifying event. IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods are also on the card. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and hot laps are at 5 p.m. with racing to follow. $1,000 to win Modified mains headline April 5-8 IMCA Frostbusters

DONNELLSON, Iowa – IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win each night and there’s a $1,000 point fund for each of the four sanctioned divisions featured in April 5-8 Frostbuster specials. Opening night is Wednesday, April 5 at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson. Benton County Speedway at Vinton hosts the Thursday, April 6 show. The Friday, April 7 Frostbuster is at Marshalltown Speedway with the Saturday, April 8 finale at Boone Speedway. Marshalltown postpones IMCA World Nationals

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (March 29) – Due to already wet track conditions, impending steady heavy rains today and colder temperatures not allowing for any track drying, Marshalltown Speedway officials have announced postponement of this weekend’s IMCA World Nationals special. “We feel it is best to postpone the World Nationals as conditions will not allow us to prep the track to the standards for which we are known,” explained Promoter Toby Kruse. “With that said, the World Nationals will be held Oct. 12-14.” “It’s a downer because there was so much interest in this event,” he added. “These are always tough decisions but they are made with the best interest of the racers, crews and fans in mind.” Plans are for the format to remain the same on the postponed date: IMCA Modifieds race for $10,000 to win and a minimum of $500 to start their 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. Bowers gasses up, sweeps Sunflower Classic Weekend

HAYS, Kan. (March 24-25) – The guy who ran out of gas on the way to the track for practice was the same IMCA Modified driver who ran away from everybody both nights of RPM Speedway’s Sunflower Classic. Steven Bowers Jr. topped $1,000 to win features Friday and Saturday at Hays and afterwards could laugh about the needle hitting empty on Thursday, half a mile from the gas station in Junction City. “I thought that night might have thrown a curve ball into the weekend. It was not a good way to start,” said Bowers, who made it to the pumps after friend who’d been waiting at the station delivered a can of gas. “But it turned out awesome. United Rebel Sprint Series kicks off 2017 season Saturday at Longdale

LONGDALE, Okla. – The Meyers Racing Engines National Points chase kicks off the 2017 season with a United Rebel Sprint Series/Sprint Series of Oklahoma co-sanctioned show this Saturday, April 1 at Longdale, Okla., Speedway. Tri-State reschedules Kegger, IMCA Modifieds chase $1,500 top check

POCOLA, Okla. (March 27) – IMCA Modifieds race for $1,500 to win this weekend, at Tri-State Speedway’s rescheduled Cecil Harlan Memorial Kegger. Practice is from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, March 30. Qualifying begins Friday, March 31 with last-chance races and the feature on Saturday, April 1. The 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier pays a minimum of $200 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Jet Racing Central Region and Allstar State points, but no local track points, will be awarded. Menasco Racing Enterprises gives a $500 bonus to the driver making the long tow. Entry fee is $100. Pit gates open at 4 p.m., the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. and racing follows 6:30 p.m. hot laps both days. Koch utilizes high side to capture Sprint Series of Oklahoma opener

(March 25) – The Sprint Series of Oklahoma IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car Series presented by Smiley’s Racing Products opened its 2017 race season Saturday night and when all said and done it was Chad Koch leading the final five laps to capture his first-ever victory with the series at Southern Oklahoma Speedway. This event was co-sanctioned with the Sprint Series of Texas IMCA Racesaver Sprint Series. The fourth starting Koch quickly moved into the runner-up position, utilizing the top of the oval while leader Jake Martens worked the bottom. The leader began approaching slower cars on lap 11. Martens built a full-stretch lead that was erased by the final caution of the night, on lap 13. Koch got a run around Martens to take the lead on the next circuit. 34 Raceway rolls out red carpet for April 1 Deery Series opener

WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa – The track that hosted the first Deery Brothers Summer Series event rolls out the red carpet for the first IMCA Late Model tour event of the season next Saturday, April 1. The Deery Series returns to 34 Raceway for a $2,000 to win, minimum $300 to start opening night feature. Forty-eight previous events have been held at West Burlington, more than at any other track, in the tour’s 30-year history.
