Deery Series headlines Fayette County Fair show

WEST UNION, Iowa (July 20) – The longest running tour for Late Models in the Midwest makes a much-anticipated return to West Union and Fayette County Speedway on Wednesday, July 25. The Deery Brothers Summer Series comes to town with IMCA Late Models racing for $2,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. “It’s been more than nine years (June 17 of 2009) since the series traveled to West Union and this has been one of the dates a lot of the Deery drivers have been talking about since we announced the schedule in February,” acknowledged Tour Director Kevin Yoder. “I’m confident the Fayette County Fair event will be one of the best of the season.” IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Iowa State, as well as special series points, will be awarded. First round of voting starts Monday for Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational 

BOONE, Iowa – The first round of voting for the upcoming Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational begins at noon on Monday, July 23. Three drivers from each of the five regions for IMCA Modifieds will be elected in polling conducted between July 23 and 26; another 13 advance from an at-large pool of the next 25 top vote recipients be­tween July 30 and Aug. 2. One hundred and thirty-six drivers are currently vote eligible for the 15th annual Invitational, to be held Sept. 7 during the IMCA Speed­way Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s at Boone Speedway. Knoxville hosts next IMCA Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour date

KNOXVILLE, Iowa – Many of the best IMCA Modified drivers in the Midwest put their on-track skills to the test at the Sprint Car Capital of the World next Thursday, July 19. Knoxville Raceway hosts the third installment of the Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour. IMCA Modifieds run for $2,000 to win and a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot nod while Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods complete the Dynamic Drivelines Dirt Duel program. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. on race day. Full house greets Deery Series at CJ Speedway as Holladay motors to IMCA Late Model tour win

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (July 18) – A very full house was on hand to welcome the Deery Brothers Summer Series back to CJ Speedway Wednesday night. Chad Holladay led all 40 laps of the main event for touring IMCA Late Models, outrunning Denny Eckrich and Darrel DeFrance for his career second Deery win and $2,000. Ryan Dolan and Nick Marolf rounded out the top five in the first series event held at Columbus Junction since 1996. “There were a couple cautions that worked in my favor and took out lapped traffic at halfway and again with five to go,” said Holladay. “You always want clean air ahead of you and we had a very good car tonight.” Holladay’s night began inauspiciously, as he drew the last starting spot in his heat. 141 reschedules King of the Creek Stock Car special

FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. (July 18) – A less than favorable forecast for this weekend has resulted in rescheduling of 141 Speedway’s $5,000 to win King of the Creek IMCA Sunoco Stock Car special. King of the Creek moves to Tuesday, July 31-Thursday, Aug. 2. Practice is on opening night with Stock Car qualifying and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Mach-1 Sport Compact features on the docket for Wednesday. No track points will be given to SportMod and Sport Compact drivers. Thursday’s program features last-chance qualifying and the main event for Stock Cars, plus all other divisions running their regular formats. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, Wisconsin State and track points will be awarded. Both IMCA Modifieds and Stock Cars are on the Cowbell Street Stock Tour program Thursday, July 19 at Francis Creek. Modifieds race for $750 to win, Stocks for $500. Thornton cashes in at Dacotah Legendary 

By Mike Spieker MANDAN, N.D. (July 13) – For the third consecutive year, the Legendary 50 at Dacotah Speedway brought the Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic IMCA Modified Tour week to a close. And for the second time in those three years, the driver taking home the big check – this time $10,003 – following the 33-car, 50-lap main event was Ricky Thornton Jr. Thornton backed up his inaugural Legendary 50 win Friday night, leading the final 35 trips around the high-banked, 3/8-mile clay oval. “I knew I was starting around some pretty fast cars. IMCA Modifieds chase $3,000 check at I-30’s Ed Jordan Memorial 

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A top check of $3,000 is at stake this Saturday, July 21 at I-30 Speedway’s sixth annual Ed Jordan Memorial for IMCA Modifieds. A minimum of $300 will be paid to start the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. Entry fee is $100 and includes the driver’s pit pass if paid by July 19. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Jet Racing Central Region, Arkansas State and track points will be awarded. Spectator admission is $12 for adults, $1 for kids ages 6-12 and free for five and under. Pit passes are $30. Pit gates and the grandstand open at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. with racing to follow. Emotions flow at Mandan as Wolla scores Modified finale, Lund lands Stock Car prize

Jason Wolla claimed a hard-fought Modified win after 30 laps, as Hunter Marriott successfully concluded his bid for a third straight title with a second-place finish. “Hell yeah! We won!” Wolla exclaimed from victory lane. “To every single one of the fans up in the stands, it means a hell of a lot for me to be able to win this race on our home track. Thornton wins Dakota Tour thriller at Dickinson, Zevenbergen cruises to another Stock Car win

By Mike Spieker DICKINSON, N.D. (July 11) – Winning streaks by both inclement weather and Hunter Marriott came to an end Wednesday night at Southwest Speedway. Ricky Thornton Jr. picked up the Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic IMCA Modified Tour win at Dickinson, ending both the streak of two straight wins by two-time defending champion Marriott and then back-to-back rainouts. R.C. Whitwell and Shawn Strand made up the front row for the 30-lap main event. Whitwell grabbed the lead before Thornton got a run to go from fourth to second on lap two, getting by both Strand and Ethan Dotson. The top three distanced themselves from the rest of the field at the halfway point. With 14 to go, Whitwell found himself in lapped traffic and had to move away from the preferred bottom groove, which allowed Thornton to reel him in. IMCA Modifieds chase $1,000 checks in July 16, 17 debut at Brown County Speedway

ABERDEEN, S.D. – IMCA Modifieds make their Brown County Speedway debut next Monday and Tuesday, July 16 and 17, in $1,000 to win main events on the 1/3-mile clay oval. Both features are 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifiers. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Side Biter Chassis North Central Region, South Dakota State and track points will be awarded. Pit gates open at 2 p.m., the grandstand opens at 4 p.m. and racing follows 6:30 p.m. hot laps both days.
