All roads lead to Boone Speedway for Sept. 4-9 IMCA Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa – The opportunity for dirt track racing immortality awaits competitors at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Drivers from more than 20 states and Canada have now pre-registered for the greatest show on dirt, set for Sept. 4-9 at Boone Speedway. Unique format adds to IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Nationals draw

EAGLE, Neb. – While the list of drivers already pre-entered continues to grow, promoter Roger Hadan is busy multi-tasking two weeks before the start of the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Nationals. Early entries for the fifth annual event neared 120 as teams from 13 states are entered in the Aug. 31-Sept. 3 event at Eagle Raceway. “We’ve got the cars. IMCA Empire State Series has Friday date at Afton Motorsports Park

AFTON, N.Y. – Touring IMCA Modifieds return to Afton Motorsports Park this Friday, Aug. 25 for the fourth installment of the 2017 Empire State Series. Friday’s feature pays $400 to win and a minimum of $75 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Dirt Works Eastern Region, Allstar Performance State and special series points are at stake during the Joey Coulter Kids Club CARS Night program. There is no entry fee. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:15 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors ages 65 and over, $8 for students ages 9-14 and free for kids eight and under. Greseth capitalizes for Buffalo River win, Arneson captures Sanders Challenge title

(Aug. 20) – Michael Greseth took the win while Austin Arneson took the title in the Sunday finale for the Sanders IMCA Modified Challenge Tour Sunday at Buffalo River Race Park. Greseth used a restart with 13 laps to go to move by leader Dale Kraling. From there, he withstood challenges from Kraling on two more restarts and captured the $1,000 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot-qualifying victory over Arneson. With the second place finish, Arneson was crowned the 2017 Sanders Modified Tour champion. Points were tallied all four nights of the tour, with each driver’s worst night being thrown out. By night’s end at Buffalo River, Arneson edged out Greseth by a mere one point to claim the championship and the $1,500 bonus. “This is a fun tour,” said Arneson. “With a tour like this, it’s nice to have all the hard work pay off. Williams Grove checkers good for Sprint win, Beer Hill Cup title

(Aug. 18) – Scott Ellerman took home quite a bit of hardware Friday after winning the co-sanctioned Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series/Pennsylvania Sprint Series feature event at Williams Grove Speedway. Along with the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature win, Ellerman collected the Beer Hill Cup Summer Series championship. Austin Bishop, Bobby Butler, Jaremi Hanson and Zach Newlin completed the top five as an 45 cars were entered at came together at the historic Central Pennsylvania ½-mile oval. After Ellerman took over command of the top spot, the fight for the lead continued throughout the entire duration of the race with Butler staying within a car length. In the final circuits, Bishop began to make ground on the top two cars, looking more and more like another possible contender for the win as the laps counted down, and chased Ellerman and Bishop across the stripe. Arneson records Jamestown win on Sanders IMCA Modified Tour

By Mike Spieker JAMESTOWN, N.D. (Aug. 19) – Austin Arneson led from lap eight to the lap 25 checkers in winning Saturday’s Sanders IMCA Modified Challenge Tour main event at Jamestown Speedway. The fifth starting Arneson worked his way by Jamie Trautner on lap two before getting by Michael Greseth and Rusty Kollman on lap six. From there, Arneson set his sights on Marlyn Seidler for the lead. Arneson was able to quickly reel in Seidler and make the pass for the lead on lap eight. “That was a blast,” said Arneson after the $1,000 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying win. “The track was pretty even early on but it got kind of tricky and a little choppy later on. Rodin dominates Sanders Modified Tour for first career victory at Red River Valley

By Mike Spieker WEST FARGO, N.D. (Aug. 18) – A stout field of 40 IMCA Modifieds were checked in Friday for night two of the Sanders Modified Challenge Tour at Red River Valley Speedway. In a dominating performance, Lucas Rodin captured the checkered flag for his first career win at the semi-banked 3/8-mile dirt oval. “I just had to hold it to the floor pretty much the whole way around just to get the car to turn,” said Rodin from victory Lane. “I tried to stay around the bottom and it worked out for us.” Rodin grabbed the lead on lap one from the third starting position as Dale Kraling, Dave Shipley and Trent Grager battled for second. He steadily distanced himself from the field as the race advanced and was able to efficiently slice his way through heavy lapped traffic. Pavlicek prevails for Sanders Mod Tour win at Norman County Raceway

(Aug. 17) – Rich Pavlicek raced to the $1,000 feature win when season-high 47 IMCA Modifieds checked in Thursday for opening night of the Sanders Modified Challenge Tour at Norman County Raceway. In his first appearance of the season at Ada, the defending champion Pavlicek started on the pole, got the lead back from Michael Greseth following a lap nine restart and cruised to the win and 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational berth. Greseth, Tyler Peterson, John Correll and “B” transfer Austin Arneson rounded out the top five. Pavlicek was running the extreme high groove when Greseth snuck underneath him to claim the lead five circuits into the 25-lapper.. Greseth quickly opened up a 10 car length lead over Pavlicek, but a caution with 16 to go brought the field right back to Greseth’s rear bumper. Strickler switches gears, then checks out in second half of Shryock Memorial All-Star main

BRITT, Iowa (Aug. 12) – Kyle Strickler was right where he wanted to be midway through Hancock County Speedway’s Shryock Memorial All-Star main event. As a result, he was right where he wanted to be at the end of Saturday’s 50-lap feature for IMCA Modifieds. Strickler stayed close to Ryan Ruter following numerous cautions throughout the first half and was running second when the race was halted for the mandatory pit stop at halfway. He restarted second, took the lead almost at the drop of the green and checked out on the rest of the 31-car field, taking the $4,000 checkers handily ahead of Ruter. “It was so important to be lined up second,” Strickler explained. “The track had rubbered up and I was definitely trying to position myself for the restart.” “It’s tough to run well in a field this good but we made a gear change (at halfway) that helped us,” he added. “I knew if I could get out front I’d be tough to catch.” The second 25 laps ran caution-free.
