IMCA Modified adjustment has Taylor looking forward to first Super Nationals

SPRING CREEK, Nev. – Their second racing vacation of the season will take the Taylor family of Spring Creek, Nev., to the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. IMCA Modified driver Wade Taylor will race at Boone Speedway for the first time. Unique format adds to IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Nationals draw

EAGLE, Neb. – While the list of drivers already pre-entered continues to grow, promoter Roger Hadan is busy multi-tasking two weeks before the start of the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Nationals. Early entries for the fifth annual event neared 120 as teams from 13 states are entered in the Aug. 31-Sept. 3 event at Eagle Raceway. “We’ve got the cars. IMCA Empire State Series has Friday date at Afton Motorsports Park

AFTON, N.Y. – Touring IMCA Modifieds return to Afton Motorsports Park this Friday, Aug. 25 for the fourth installment of the 2017 Empire State Series. Friday’s feature pays $400 to win and a minimum of $75 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Dirt Works Eastern Region, Allstar Performance State and special series points are at stake during the Joey Coulter Kids Club CARS Night program. There is no entry fee. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:15 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors ages 65 and over, $8 for students ages 9-14 and free for kids eight and under. IMCA Weekly Late Model point season ends Aug. 27

VINTON, Iowa – Final Late Model track points races for the 2017 IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing point season will be Sunday, Aug. 27. National and state points for the division will be given through the final Deery Brothers Summer Series event, now scheduled on Sept. 23. Track championship bonus points will be figured and the national champion and rookie of the year announced as soon as possible after that date.

Wilson wires Sprint Series of Oklahoma foes at Ardmore

(Aug. 18) – Chad Wilson quickly took the lead from his fourth starting position and never looked back to capture his second career Sprint Series of Oklahoma IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature Friday at Southern Oklahoma Speedway. Tucker Doughty and defending tour champion Andy Shouse started on the front row for the 20-lap feature with Wilson the one taking the lead as the green flag fell. Several cautions dotted the feature yet Wilson would hold on to become the seventh different winner of the 2017 season. Tenth starting Michael Day, who won earlier at SOS, came home second while Doughty held on for third. Hinrichs tops Marshalltown main, Mitchell rules plush Super Dash

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Aug. 18) – It was another action packed night of racing on Friday at the Marshalltown Speedway and the 115 cars on hand provided the crowd with great close racing all evening long. Kyle Hinrichs captured his first IMCA Late Model victory while Justin Mitchell went home $3,000 richer in the Super Dash. Hinrichs led the 20-lap main event from start to finish. Richie Gustin ran out of time to garner more than a second place finish, Todd Cooney was third, fourth went to Mitchell and Darrel DeFrance was fifth. Repeat winners abound at Davenport

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (Aug. 18) – Just one week before the 2017 Season Championships, the racing action was intense at the Davenport Speedway Friday night. Matt Ryan drew the pole for the Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Model feature and drove out to a sizeable lead. However in lapped traffic, Spencer Diercks was able to run down the leader. Diercks drove around Ryan on the high side on lap 22. In the final corner, Ryan pulled a massive slide job to retake the lead. Diercks tried to cross over but could not complete the move soon enough. The win was Ryan’s fifth of the season and third straight. Second went to Diercks, ahead of Jonathan Brauns in third. Rob Toland outlasted the field in the Eriksen Chevrolet IMCA Modified feature. Greseth capitalizes for Buffalo River win, Arneson captures Sanders Challenge title

(Aug. 20) – Michael Greseth took the win while Austin Arneson took the title in the Sunday finale for the Sanders IMCA Modified Challenge Tour Sunday at Buffalo River Race Park. Greseth used a restart with 13 laps to go to move by leader Dale Kraling. From there, he withstood challenges from Kraling on two more restarts and captured the $1,000 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot-qualifying victory over Arneson. With the second place finish, Arneson was crowned the 2017 Sanders Modified Tour champion. Points were tallied all four nights of the tour, with each driver’s worst night being thrown out. By night’s end at Buffalo River, Arneson edged out Greseth by a mere one point to claim the championship and the $1,500 bonus. “This is a fun tour,” said Arneson. “With a tour like this, it’s nice to have all the hard work pay off. Williams Grove checkers good for Sprint win, Beer Hill Cup title

(Aug. 18) – Scott Ellerman took home quite a bit of hardware Friday after winning the co-sanctioned Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series/Pennsylvania Sprint Series feature event at Williams Grove Speedway. Along with the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature win, Ellerman collected the Beer Hill Cup Summer Series championship. Austin Bishop, Bobby Butler, Jaremi Hanson and Zach Newlin completed the top five as an 45 cars were entered at came together at the historic Central Pennsylvania ½-mile oval. After Ellerman took over command of the top spot, the fight for the lead continued throughout the entire duration of the race with Butler staying within a car length. In the final circuits, Bishop began to make ground on the top two cars, looking more and more like another possible contender for the win as the laps counted down, and chased Ellerman and Bishop across the stripe.
