Arneson records Jamestown win on Sanders IMCA Modified Tour

By Mike Spieker JAMESTOWN, N.D. (Aug. 19) – Austin Arneson led from lap eight to the lap 25 checkers in winning Saturday’s Sanders IMCA Modified Challenge Tour main event at Jamestown Speedway. The fifth starting Arneson worked his way by Jamie Trautner on lap two before getting by Michael Greseth and Rusty Kollman on lap six. From there, Arneson set his sights on Marlyn Seidler for the lead. Arneson was able to quickly reel in Seidler and make the pass for the lead on lap eight. “That was a blast,” said Arneson after the $1,000 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying win. “The track was pretty even early on but it got kind of tricky and a little choppy later on. Bruening scores IMCA Late Model win at Farley

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa (Aug. 18) – With the biggest race of the year, the Yankee Dirt Track Classic, less than two weeks away, three-time event winner Tyler Bruening used Friday night at Farley Speedway as a tune-up. The Out-Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Models took the green with Nick Marolf in the lead. Marolf held the lead until near the midway point of the caution-free 25-lapper when Bruening was able to take the lead after advancing from a sixth position start. Bruening held off the late challenges of point leader Justin Kay and took the checkers by a car length. Kay shot to the front of the GSI Collision Specialist IMCA Modified feature from his fourth row start, taking the lead on lap eight en route to the 20-lap feature win. Rodin dominates Sanders Modified Tour for first career victory at Red River Valley

By Mike Spieker WEST FARGO, N.D. (Aug. 18) – A stout field of 40 IMCA Modifieds were checked in Friday for night two of the Sanders Modified Challenge Tour at Red River Valley Speedway. In a dominating performance, Lucas Rodin captured the checkered flag for his first career win at the semi-banked 3/8-mile dirt oval. “I just had to hold it to the floor pretty much the whole way around just to get the car to turn,” said Rodin from victory Lane. “I tried to stay around the bottom and it worked out for us.” Rodin grabbed the lead on lap one from the third starting position as Dale Kraling, Dave Shipley and Trent Grager battled for second. He steadily distanced himself from the field as the race advanced and was able to efficiently slice his way through heavy lapped traffic. Pavlicek prevails for Sanders Mod Tour win at Norman County Raceway

(Aug. 17) – Rich Pavlicek raced to the $1,000 feature win when season-high 47 IMCA Modifieds checked in Thursday for opening night of the Sanders Modified Challenge Tour at Norman County Raceway. In his first appearance of the season at Ada, the defending champion Pavlicek started on the pole, got the lead back from Michael Greseth following a lap nine restart and cruised to the win and 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational berth. Greseth, Tyler Peterson, John Correll and “B” transfer Austin Arneson rounded out the top five. Pavlicek was running the extreme high groove when Greseth snuck underneath him to claim the lead five circuits into the 25-lapper.. Greseth quickly opened up a 10 car length lead over Pavlicek, but a caution with 16 to go brought the field right back to Greseth’s rear bumper. By David Smith Jr. OBERLIN, Kan. – The United Rebel Sprint Series is set for three straight nights of racing action in Kansas this weekend as the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car series heads to the Rooks County Fairgrounds in Stockton on Friday night, Aug. 18, before heading to Oberlin Speedway in Oberlin, Kansas for the annual Bob Salem Memorial on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 19-20. Current URSS leader Zach Blurton holds a slim 12-point advantage over Steven Richardson while Jed Werner is just 24-points out of the point lead. Kansas Thunder Series wraps up at Stockton

By Mike Hughes STOCKTON, Kan. (Aug. 17) – The Kansas Thunder Series closed out the 2017 season at Rooks County Speedway in Stockton on Thursday evening during the Rooks County Free Fair. Point champions in two of the four divisions were up for grabs. Four drivers were still in the running for the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock crown as 19 cars took the green flag. Zach Olmstead took the lead on the opening lap before Brady Bencken took over a lead he would not relinquish. Three cautions kept the field close but Bencken was up to the occasion to score the win. Garrett Hager charged from his 11th starting spot to take second, followed by Olmstead. Cody Williams finished fourth, good enough to claim the series championship. Fifth was Jeromy Wagner. Championship Night is Saturday at Park Jefferson

JEFFERSON, S.D. – Championship Night has arrived at Park Jefferson Speedway, as this Saturday, Aug. 19 the track will crown its six IMCA champions. Christians is quickest at Outagamie

By Edward Anschutz SEYMOUR, Wis. (Aug. 13) – Jeremy Christians kept his title hopes alive with another feature win in the IMCA Stock Car division Sunday at Outagamie Speedway. Eric Arneson paced the opening circuits, working the high side as Barry Van Straten and Trent Nolan gave chase. Midway through the contest, Christians made his presence known by racing into the top four, working the low groove. Christians methodically worked past Van Straten and Nolan. Arneson was his next victim, as Christians took the lead away with eight laps remaining and pulled away to capture the win. Second went to Arneson and Nolan was third. Paul Parker led all 20 laps of the IMCA Modified main event en route to his second feature win in a row at Seymour. Hunter Parsons took the lead on lap three of the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature and never looked back. Matt Brehmer scored his first feature win of the season in the Mach-1 Sport Compacts.

Jones run 1-2 at Raceway Park

JEFFERSON, S.D. (Aug. 13) – Glen Jones and son Casey ran 1-2 in Sunday’s Casey’s General Stock IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature at Raceway Park. Kyle Welch had his hands full holding off Todd Boulware for the KCAU IMCA Northern SportMod checkers. Chris Mills’ move to the high side late in the race paid off with the Total Motors IMCA Modified checkers. Craig Clift paced the Golden Auto IMCA Hobby Stocks and Ramsey Meyer was the Z98 IMCA Sport Compact winner.
