PLEASANTON, Texas (April 22) – Talon Minten outlasted the field to take home Sunday’s IMCA Modified main event at I-37 Speedway.
Minten got the lead from early point man Chris Morris, who drives withonlyhand controls, then outpaced the remaining field for the win.
“We had a good car,”said Minten. “With the wrecks and cautionsI’m gladI started up front and stayed clear of it all. The track wasn’t too bad for our feature,I felt like the top line was dominant so whoever got up there first would likely stay out front.”
Dillon Tindall was second and Morris ended his night in third.
The scheduled Saturday show at Pleasanton was rescheduled because of inclement weather and wet pit conditions.
By J.M. Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (June 6) – The two-week break in racing at I-37 Speedway proved a blessing Saturday night for Chris Carroll, whose IMCA Modified had sustained significant damage in the last outing. Carroll started in row four and caught leader Rick Green in traffic to get by. In the latter stages, Carroll had to fend off rookie Logan Dinsmore, fresh off his high school graduation. “This was Rick’s race. He clearly had the better car tonight. Everything just fell my way,” Carroll said. “I was watching Rick, he was gone. It’s easier being in second place sometimes when you get to traffic.” Jamie Campbell ended in second and Ryan Doyon was third.
By J.M. Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (March 23) – A back-and-forth battle finally went Chris Swenson’s way Saturday at I-37 Speedway. Swenson, Cody Leonard and Nebraska’s Chad Andersen had a good three-car battle going for the top spot in the 20-lap IMCA Modified Dirt Kings main event. A caution set up a slide job duel between Swenson and Anderson as they swapped the lead for the final five laps before Swenson edged Andersen at the line to score the $1,000 win and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth. “That was crazy,” said Swenson. “Slide job city, really. We just kept going back and forth, back and forth. He’d slide me, I’d slide him. It was just who was the last to give one as the checkered flag flew.” “I was a little leery. I’m kind of old school back before we did slide jobs. It’s one of those things that you really have to trust the guy. It puts on a great show, but it is kind of scary,” he continued. “You’re just waiting the guy [Read More]

Twenty Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds lined up for the four-wide salute before taking the green. Raymond McSpadden led the pack into turn one, but Cody Tidwell got a run up top to snag the lead pursued by Chris Morris, McSpadden, Rick Green and John Hortch. Yellows waved on laps three and four and on the second restart, Dinsmore rocketed to the high side, sailing past Morris and Tidwell for the lead. The top three would break away while Jared Maupin worked his way to fourth. Dinsmore was inching away at the crossed flags and had half a straightaway on his closest competition before another yellow, on lap 16. With a clean track ahead, Dinsmore had to hold off Morris and Maupin as the top three got away while Green, Carroll and McSpadden were three wide for fourth.
