Meinecke scores Modified win at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (June 5) – Matthew Meinecke was the IMCA Modified winner on a warm Wednesday night at Stuart Speedway. Meinecke led Cory Sauerman and Josh Gilman when the first lap was scored; Gilman got to second on lap three with Clay Money giving chase. The top three stayed the same until Kyle Brown worked his way past Money on lap 18 for third. Gilman used the whole track to reel in the leader, but it was not to be as Meinecke went on to the win. Gilman finished second with Brown third.  Buck Schafroth was the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winner, by a margin of less than a car length over Brandon Pruitt. The race was for second as Garrett Nelson checked out early in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod contest.  Shannon Anderson worked his way through traffic en route to the lead and the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock checkers.

Most masters Stuart IMCA Modified main event

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (May 22) – Josh Most was too much for his IMCA Modified foes Wednesday at Stuart Speedway. Most and Bob Daniels were on the front row for the start of the Veterans Night event and Most led lap one with Daniels and Scott Bash in tow. Nick Roberts passed Daniels and Bash for second on lap three, pulling Josh Gilman along into third. Gilman moved into second on lap eight as Most stretched out almost a full straightaway lead at halfway. Ricky Thornton Jr., fresh off his IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win, passed Roberts for third on lap 13 and joined Gilman in the chase for the lead. Lapped traffic began to play a factor on the 15th circuit and the top three began to get closer. Thornton passed Gilman for second as the white flag came out and looked to find a way around Most as they worked down the backstretch. Thornton worked low, but Most was too strong through the middle of the track and took the checkered flag. [Read More]

Thornton motors to Durbin Memorial checkers

By Josh Reynolds  STUART, Iowa (May 15) – There was no catching Ricky Thornton Jr. in the race to the $1,000 IMCA Modified checkers Wednesday at Stuart Speedway’s inaugural Jake Durbin Memorial. Thornton, already on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot, and Jesse Dennis drew the front row starting spots and it was Thornton jumping out to the early lead. Kyle Brown and Nick Roberts battled for second with Brown holding it down for the first six laps. Roberts got past Brown on lap seven, just before a caution flew. Two more quick yellows on laps 12 and 13 allowed Hunter Marriott to get past Brown and Roberts and on Thornton’s bumper. That was as close as anyone was coming on this night, however, as Thornton roared off into the sunset to take the win. Marriott finished second with Dennis third. Brown started 11th, took over second on lap 10 and gained the lead the next time around in winning the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. A lapped car came into the mix as the [Read More]

Schafroth wins again at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (May 2) – Buck Schafroth was back in victory lane following Thursday’s IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature at Stuart Speedway. Schafroth took the lead from Jeremy Gettler on lap four; second-running Todd VanEaton exited with mechanical issues on the 11th circuit, with Mike Nichols moving up to challenge.  The race went green from there and Schafroth had his hands full as Nichols worked high and low trying to find a way around. After taking the white flag, Nichols seemed to set up a move down the backstretch and into turn three, but his car went up on two wheels in turn three and his shot at the win was over. Schafroth took the exciting victory with 17th starting Shawn Ritter sneaking by Nichols for second. Shannon Anderson topped an IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature that ran caution-free and Tyler Inman followed the lower line to the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod checkers.

Lapped traffic is a late menace before Dennis wins Stuart’s Ron Little Memorial

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (Sept. 22) – Lapped traffic was almost a factor in the final laps, but Jesse Dennis picked up the IMCA Modified win and $1,500 payday at Stuart Speedway’s Ron Little Memorial. Dennis had taken the lead early in Saturday’s 30-lap race with Red Monson and then Cody Laney in the second spot. Laney made a charge and got up alongside Dennis a few times but couldn’t quite get the pass completed. A couple cautions slowed the field, but each time it was Dennis, Laney and Monson at the front. At the checkered flag it was Dennis picking up the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot-qualifying win. Laney finished second with Monson third, Richie Gustin fourth and Kelly Shryock fifth. One hundred and eighteen cars overflowed the pits for the 20th annual event. Sixth-starting Mike Nichols charged into the lead on lap two and drove to a convincing IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win ahead of Bryan Snell and Brandon Pruitt. Eric Stanton led start to finish in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock [Read More]
