Stuart Speedway has new promoter, new race night

STUART, Iowa – One of IMCA’s longest tenured tracks has a new promoter and a new race night be­ginning this season. 

Mike Van Genderen will be in charge of Wednesday night race programs at the Stuart Speedway. Work on reconfiguring the 1/4-mile clay oval has already started and will resume when weather and track conditions permit. 

Midweek shows will feature IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts.

“Stuart has a very strong IMCA tradition,” said Van Genderen, who completed his purchase of the track in November. “It’s a pretty darn nice facility with good lighting and a beautiful concession stand. It has everything you could want.”

The IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National point season runs from April 17 to Aug. 7.

Specials on the 2019 schedule include the April 3 Frostbuster, the inaugural Jake Durbin Memo­rial on May 15, the inaugural Dirt Duel Stock Car Stampede June 11 and 12 and the July 2 Ron Little Memorial. 

Modified points earned at Stuart figure toward Side Biter Chassis North Central Region standings, Stock Car points in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region and Hobby Stock points in the Big Daddy Race Cars Northern Region. 

“Buying this track was a good opportunity for me. I look forward to being my own boss,” said Van Gen­deren, who piloted Modifieds and Stock Cars during his own on-track career. “This is a great community that really supports racing.” 

This season will be the 34th consecutive Stuart has been sanctioned with IMCA. Regular race programs last season were held on Friday nights.

21st Ron Little Memorial Thursday at Stuart

STUART, Iowa – IMCA Modifieds chase a $2,055 top check and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth at Stuart Speedway’s Thursday, July 2 Ron Little Memorial. The Modified feature pays $1,055 to the runner-up, $755 for third, $555 for fourth and a minimum of $205 to start. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars race for a possible $1,905 to win, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods for $1,000. Entry fee in those three divisions is $25.  IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks race for $550 to win, Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $200 to win.  Hot laps are at 6:45 p.m. for the draw/redraw show with racing to follow. Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $7 for students ages 11-16 and free for kids ages 10 and under. Zevenbergen, Logue land Dirt Duel wins

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (June 3) – Elijah Zevenbergen and Johnathon Logue were $3,000 feature winners on the third night of Stuart Speedway’s Dynamic Drivelines Dirt Duel. Zevenbergen grabbed the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers ahead of second-year speedster Dallon Murty Wednesday night while Logue beat Cody Thompson to the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod finish by not much more than the width of his bumper.  Zevenbergen and Todd VanEaton brought the Stock Car field to the green flag. Zevenbergen took control early in the 50-lapper as Murty worked his way through to second just before a caution came out on lap 21.  Murty bobbled on lap 40 and allowed his father Damon to take over second place. The caution flew again on lap 44 and gave the field one more chance at Zevenbergen. Four IMCA features each pay $1K at Stuart’s Dynamic Drivelines Dirt Duel

STUART, Iowa ­(May 10, 2022) – Drivers in four IMCA divisions are in the running for $1,000 top checks during a rare Monday show at Karl Chevrolet Stuart International Speedway.  The May 16 Dynamic Drivelines Dirt Duel sees Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods contend in $1,000 to win features.  Modified and Stock Car winners also earn Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational and B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility, respectively.  Mach-1 Sport Compacts complete the card. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, KMJ Performance State and track points will be awarded. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Pit passes are $30.
