Harris earns first Oil Capital victory with late pass for lead

(March 19) – Persistence paid off in a career-first AmeriFlex/Oil Capital Racing Series IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car victory for Noah Harris Friday at Creek County Speedway.   Harris chased down race-long leader Josh Tyre and finally passed him with three laps remaining for the lead and eventual victory.  “I struggled around the bottom. I thought that is where we had to be,” Harris said of his early laps in the 25-lap race. “I ran a couple of laps down there then we went to the top.” That is when Harris started to advance. After a lap 12 restart, Harris drove around veteran Danny Wood for second and chased after Tyre. Friday Oil Capital Racing Series show moved to Creek County Speedway

By John Rittenoure  TULSA, Okla. – Due to over seven inches of rain at Caney Valley Speedway over the past weekend, the track will not be able to host the AmeriFlex /Oil Capital Racing Series IMCA RaceSaveer Sprint Cars on Friday.  Creek County Speedway has stepped up and will run the series both Friday and Saturday this week.  On Friday, gates open at 4 p.m., sign-in from 5:30-6:30 p.m., drivers’ meeting at 6:45 p.m., hot laps at 7:15 p.m. and racing at 8 p.m. And on Saturday, gates open at 3 p.m., Sign-in is from 3:30-4:30 p.m., drivers’ meeting at 4:45 p.m., hot laps at 5:15 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m.  Mufflers are mandatory both nights. Both nights are standard $1,000 to win, $225 to start feature events.

Drought ends for Lee with Sunday Oil Capital RaceSaver win at Meeker

(March 7) – It has been a long time in coming for Joe Bob Lee.  One of the most loyal followers of the AmeriFlex/Oil Capital Racing Series for IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, Lee has spent the past four years traveling to each race on the OCRS schedule from his home in the far southwest Oklahoma town of Cache hoping to pick up a main event win.   Sunday, it finally happened. Lee took over the lead just a few laps before the halfway point in the 30-lap feature of Spring Nationals at Red Dirt Raceway and raced unchallenged for his first career series victory.  “It is going on four years straight I have been running with the series,” Lee said, thinking back to when he started running with OCRS. “It is finally good to get the monkey off my shoulders.“ Lee credited the work of his family, crew and sponsors for his success.   “We have had a lot of top 5 and top 10’s. Kent is super in Oil Capital RaceSaver series opener

(March 6) – Johnny Kent gave up the early lead then regained it just in time to win the 2021 AmeriFlex/Oil Capital Racing Series season opener for IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars during night one of the Red Dirt Raceway Spring Nationals.  For the first time, the series raced under the IMCA RaceSaver sanction and a total of 42 competitors turned out for the inaugural outing.  Kent picked up his third OCRS career victory, but it almost did not happen.  Starting outside front row next to Dillon Laden, Kent jumped into the lap one lead on the Red Dirt quarter-mile before the yellow flag waved.  On the restart, fourth starting Casey Wills roared past Kent for the lead. Kent kept pace with Wills throughout the 25-lapper hoping for a second chance.
