Mather remains perfect in Indee

By Jeremy Fox INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (May 28, 2022) – After losing last week’s races to the victim of mother nature, it was back to action at the Independence Motor Speedway on Saturday Night for Weekly Points Night. It was Michael Pittman Memorial Night, a night to remember a competitor who lost his life in a work related accident in February.  It was a picture perfect night to wrap up the month of May, that saw 106 race cars sign into tame the 3/8 mile bank race track on the Buchanan County Fairgrounds. They were going two, three and a few times four wide during the night. The final checkered flag was displayed at 9:47 p.m. The first feature of the night was the 15-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod event. Wauters wins again on last lap at Indee

By Jeremy Fox  INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (May 14, 2022) – Saturday was Night Two of the IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing Season at Independence Motor Speedway and it was absolute beautiful night for racing on the 3/8 mile banked oval on the Buchanan County Fairgrounds. One hundred and three race cars signed in and the night wrapped up at 9:45 p.m.   The first feature of the night was the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car 20-lapper. Cole Mather took the lead on lap two just before the first of four cautions over the next three laps. Mather held tough on the restarts and fended off Kaden Reynolds before pulling away. Mather went on to go back-to-back to start the season and take his 29th weekly win at Indee. Reynolds finished second and Dustin Vis came back from an early incident to finish third. Independence races to save lives with Iowa Donor Network Night show

By Jeremy Fox  INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (July 24) – Independence Motor Speedway raced to save lives on Saturday, hosting the Iowa Donor Network Night. Iowa Donor Network was on hand with info and for people to sign up as an organ donor. Drivers Prizes, Donation Honorees, Raffles, Prizes and Apparel for Sale plus the first 300 adults got a gift from Longhorn Steakhouse. A helmet and door signed by drivers auctioned off at Intermission along with a pass the helmet with all donations going to the Iowa Donor Network.  The first feature of the night was the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods. Kyle Olson and Nebraska’s Cameron Meyer led the field to the green flag with Olson taking the top spot early. Olson held off Brandon Tharp and Shane Paris until lap seven. Buchanan County Fair IMCA wins to Simpson, Murty

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (July 6) – Chris Simpson and Dallon Murty kicked off the Buchanan County Fair with $1,000 IMCA feature wins Tuesday night. Simpson, already on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot, made it look easy in the 25-lapper for IMCA Modifieds at Independence Motor Speedway. From his pole position start, Simpson pulled away early and then survived a pair of cautions to score the win ahead of Mike Burbridge. Joel Rust came from a mid-pack start to finish third ahead of Troy Cordes and Derrick Stewart in the 26-car field. Murty took top honors in the 20-lap thriller for the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars.  Johnny Spaw led that 23-car field to green and held the point throughout the first half of the event while closely pursued by Phil Holtz and Cole Mather.  Murty made his way into the mix and slid past both Mather and Holtz on the eighth lap to secure second. IMCA Modifieds, Stock Cars run on opening night at Buchanan County Fair

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – The first night of the Buchanan County Fair brings IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars to Independence Motor Speedway on Tuesday, July 6. Modifieds race for $1,000 to win and a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth; Stock Cars run for a $750 top check, with the winner becoming eligible to qualify for the B & B Chassis All-Star race. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Side Biter Chassis North Central Region and EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region, and KMJ Performance State points will be awarded. Entry fee for both divisions is $20. Pit passes are $30. Gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m. Spectator admission is $20 for adults, $15 for veterans and teens, $10 for kids ages 7-12 and free for ages six and under. The evening’s Denny Osborn Memorial Late Model event honors the 1989 IMCA national champion, who passed away May 24, and is presented by Travis Smock and Peoples Company.

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – A $1,000 to win Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying event for IMCA Modifieds is on the Saturday card at Independence Motor Speedway. Auto Source LLC has added to the June 26 Modified purse. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cards will run for $500 to win, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods for $400 and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $300, with each of those divisions draw/redraw.  Pits open at 3:30 p.m., the grandstand opens at 4:30 p.m. with racing at 6 p.m.

Mather Takes B & B Chassis All-Star Qualifier on Crawford Farms Night at Indee

By Jeremy Fox INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (June 19) – Cole Mather was the big IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winner on Crawford Farms Hall of Fame Night at Independence Motor Speedway. Adam Johnson led the opening lap of the 20-lap B & B Chassis All-Star Invitational qualifier, which featured a top prize of $750 courtesy of J&V NAPA Auto Parts. Mather took the top spot away on lap two, fending off Johnson and Dustin Vis.  Mather pulled away only to have Vis reel him back in, Vis then seem to have mechanical issues coming down the front stretch forcing him to pull off. The caution came out on lap 18 when Kevin Rose spun in turn four forcing a two lap shootout. Mather held off Philip Holtz to take his third win of the season at Indee. Holtz was second, Jarod Weepie moved up seven spots to finish third. Jay Schmidt was fourth and Tom Schmitt was fifth. $750 is top IMCA Stock Car prize Saturday at Indee

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $750 to win on Crawford Farms Hall of Fame Night Saturday at Independence Motor Speedway. A qualifier for the B & B Chassis All-Star Invitational and sponsored by J&V NAPA Auto Parts, the feature pays $100 to start. Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods race for $500 to win and $100 to start, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $300 to win and $75 to start. IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Late Models are also on the June 19 card.  This year’s Hall of Fame class includes Paul Fitzpatrick, Bob Hilmer, Karl Sanger, Bill Barthelmes, Don Bedard, Tiny Russell and Gordon Bentley. Tharp, Dedrick, Weepie among winners at Independence

By Jeremy Fox  INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (June 5) – Brandon Tharp raced to his career first Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod win, Jerry Dedrick’s IMCA Modified victory paid $1,000 and Jarod Weepie topped yet another milestone IMCA Sunoco Stock Car event on mid-season championship night Saturday at Independence Motor Speedway.  Tharp hit his marks and fended off multiple challenges for a win he said was five years in the making. Brady Hilmer finished second ahead of Kenny Wyman Jr., Kyle Olson and Tony Olson.  The Modified feature paid $1,000 to win after last week’s scheduled Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier got rained out. Dedrick started on the pole and held off several challenges from Jarrett Brown. IMCA Late Model win, Sunoco bonus go to Johnson

By Jeremy Fox INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (May 22) – Sean Johnson scored the IMCA Sunoco Late Model feature win and $250 Sunoco Race Fuels bonus Saturday at Independence Motor Speedway.  Johnson took the race lead after two early restarts and pulled away from Curt Martin, Logan Duffy and Travis Smock before the caution came out on lap 17 for debris. Johnson held on leading the last eight laps to take the feature win and the Sunoco Race Fuels bonus. Martin, Duffy, Smock and Austin Russell rounded out the top five.  Johnson’s victory was worth $850 in all. Jordan Hicks flexed his IMCA Modified muscles because not even the cautions on lap two or on lap 12 him from adding his name to the history books of feature winners in Indee.
