Four IMCA divisions headline five April Frostbuster dates

Hobby Stock, Modified, Northern SportMod, Results, Sport Compact, Stock Car

VINTON, Iowa (March 26, 2024) – It’s the spring version of Iowa Speedweek as four IMCA divisions travel to five different tracks for Wednesday-Sunday, April 3-7 Frostbuster specials.

Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars for $750 and both Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $500 to win each night beginning at Independence Motor Speedway, with dates at Stuart Speedway, Marshalltown Speedway and Boone Speedway leading up to the finale at Benton County Speedway in Vinton.

Frostbuster champions earn the biggest share of $1,000 point funds and will be eligible for race of champions events at the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.

Modified and Stock Car feature winners become eligible to qualify for their respective All-Star Invitationals.

Gates open at 5 p.m. with 6:30 p.m. hot laps and racing at 7 p.m. on April 3 at Independence and on April 4 at Stuart. Spectator admission is $20 for adults and $10 for students ages 11-17, with kids 10 and under free at both tracks.

Marshalltown opens the pit gates at 4:30 p.m. on April 5. The grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m., hot laps are at 6:45 p.m. and racing is at 7:30 p.m. Spectator admission is $20 for adults, $15 for veterans and seniors, $15 for students 11-17 and free for 10 and under.

On April 6, Boone opens the pits at 2 p.m. and the stands at 3 p.m. Hot laps are at 4 p.m. and racing is at 5 p.m. Grandstand admission is $20 for adults, $15 for students 11-17 and 10 and under get in free.

Pit gates open at 3 p.m. for the April 7 show at Vinton, with hot laps at 4:30 p.m. and racing at 5 p.m. Front gate Admission is $18 for adults, $16 for veterans and seniors, $5 for kids 6-12 and free for five and under.

Adult pit passes are $35 and nightly entry fees are $30 for Modifieds, $25 for Stock Cars and $20 for Hobby Stocks and Northern SportMods.

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing national, Razor Chassis North Central, EQ Cylinder Heads Northern and B & B Racing Chassis Northern region, and Iowa state points will be awarded each night.

Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts are also on race cards at Indee, Stuart, Marshalltown and Vinton.

Open practice sessions will be held April 2 at both Independence and Marshalltown.

Brown impresses at Boone

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (June 6) – Kyle Brown was impressive in taking the IMCA Modified victory Satur­day at Boone Speedway.  Gatlin Leytham and Jimmy Gustin led the field to green but by corner one, sixth starter Brown was already in front.  From there on, Brown showed total domination in securing his first win of the 2020 season.   Joel Rust chased Brown across the finish line in second place, Tim Ward came from ninth start­ing to finish third. Donavon Smith was the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winner and Doug Smith paced the Karl Kus­toms Northern SportMods. Miciah Hidlebaugh took the checkers in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main. Fans were allowed back in the grandstands at Boone for the first time this season. Most masters Stuart IMCA Modified main event

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (May 22) – Josh Most was too much for his IMCA Modified foes Wednesday at Stuart Speed­way. Most and Bob Daniels were on the front row for the start of the Veterans Night event and Most led lap one with Daniels and Scott Bash in tow. Nick Roberts passed Daniels and Bash for second on lap three, pull­ing Josh Gilman along into third. Gilman moved into second on lap eight as Most stretched out almost a full straightaway lead at halfway. Ricky Thornton Jr., fresh off his IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win, passed Roberts for third on lap 13 and joined Gilman in the chase for the lead. Lapped traffic began to play a factor on the 15th circuit and the top three began to get closer. Thornton passed Gilman for second as the white flag came out and looked to find a way around Most as they worked down the backstretch. Thornton worked low, but Most was too strong through the middle of the track and took the checkered flag. [Read More]
