Grabouski is latest, youngest with 100 Modified career wins

BEATRICE, Neb. (May 23) – A driver who’s proven himself on dirt ovals around the Midwest enjoyed a milestone win at his hometown track Friday night. Jordan Grabouski won the May 23 IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature at Beatrice Speedway. The victory was his career 100th in the sanctioned class. “You have to race a lot to be able to accomplish something like this. It’s a lot of hard work and you have to have a lot of help from your family, your crew and sponsors,” said Grabouski, 25 years old and the youngest driver in division history to reach triple digit wins. “I love to race. Fast Shafts All-Star voting will be in July, August

BOONE, Iowa – The same format will be used to determine 28 of the 30 starters for the Sept. 5 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational, during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Ninety-eight IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified drivers are now on the ballot. The final qualifying event will be the July 17 Harris Clash. Using the IMCA website and Facebook page, three drivers from each of the five Modified regions will be elected through electronic polling from July 21 to July 28. Thirteen more will be elected via the IMCA Facebook page from an at-large pool of the next 25 top vote recipients between July 29 and Aug. 5. Hudson wins career first IMCA Modified feature at Shawano

(May 24) – Cody Hudson won his first career IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature while Kyle Frederick remained unbeaten in IMCA Sunoco Stock Car action Friday at Shawano Speedway. The rookie Hudson, last season’s Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod track champion at Shawano, started outside the first row in the feature and never looked back. He led all 20 laps en route to the victory. The best action of the race was behind the leader. John Berna held off Marcus Yarie to come home in second, while Jamie Schmidt, Johnny Whitman, and Jerry Wilinski had a spirited battle for positions fourth through sixth. Make-A-Wish Night this Saturday at Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (May 29) – Bakersfield Speedway hosts its fourth annual Make-A-Wish Night this Saturday, May 31. Proceeds benefit Make-A-Wish of Kern County and the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds race for $1,000 in their 40-lap Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. Local drivers have collected donations for a race night drawing, Make-A-Wish- kids and drivers will pass helmets in the stands to collect donations from fans, with those funds going to grant wishes of children in Kern County with life-threatening medical conditions. Dirt Works banner flies over Eastern Region for Modifieds

ORONOGO, Mo. – Welcomed back to the IMCA partnership ranks last season, Dirt Works Race Cars returns in 2014 as title sponsor of the Eastern Region for Modifieds. Both races are Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying events and the first races in the first annual I-80 Challenge Series. WACO, Texas – IMCA Lone Star Series shows on Friday and Saturday, July 4 and 5 at Heart O’ Texas Speedway do double duty as the Texas Nationals. Werkmeister is Stock Car series winner at WaKeeney

By Mike Hughes WaKEENEY, Kan. (May 26) – Casey Werkmeister made his move in lapped traffic and ended up in WaKeeney Speedway’s victory lane on Memorial Day. Werkmeister topped the Dirt Track Central Jax Sports Grill Great Plains Series for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, earning $750 for his efforts. Series point leader Mike Nichols had shot out to the early lead in the 25-lap event, chased by Werkmeister, Angel Munoz, Jason Rogers and Jeff Tubbs. The top five remained the same at the halfway mark, then the lead duo got caught up in heavy lapped traffic before Werkmeister got by Nichols for the lead. The top two continued to battle their way through traffic but Werkmeister held on for the win and the $750 paycheck.
