O’Brien is the best of the best in Jamestown IMCA Modified Dakota Classic Tour finale

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (July 11) – Two first-time feature winners took their turns in victory lane following the sixth and final night for the Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour. With a track record 80 IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds at Jamestown Speedway Friday, Justin O’Brien took the lead from Steven Pfeifer late in the 30-lapper and outran Justen Yeager for the $2,000 checkers. “This was absolutely the biggest win of my career,” said O’Brien, newly qualified for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. “The best of the best in IMCA were here.” Jeff Taylor clinched the series title with his third-place finish, still in a borrowed car. Werkmeister sweeps Lincoln County Stock Car features

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (July 12) – Picking up a pair of Saturday feature victories in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division at Lincoln County Raceway was Casey Werkmeister. He was joined in the winner’s circle by Zach Schultz, Kyle Bond and Charlie Blowers. On top of his game, Werkmeister swept top honors in the Stock Car features as two were run this evening. Werkmeister took the lead in the initial feature near the halfway point and never looked back. In the finale, Werkmeister droved to the lead on lap 10 from his fifth row starting position to capture the checkered flag. Schultz started on the pole and led from green to checkered in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature. Thornton stays hot at Canyon’s Mid-Summer Classic

(July 12) – Ricky Thornton, Jr., continues to hold the hottest of Canyon Speedway Park hands as he raced to yet another IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature victory in Saturday’s Mid-Summer Classic atop the 1/3-mile clay oval. Thornton raced from the front row outside to his ninth win in 11 CSP events thus far in 2014, taking the checkered flag ahead of Jason Noll with Brian Schultz, Steve Stultz and Chaz Baca, Jr., in the top five. Joe Wampole advanced the most positions in the main event by racing from 19th to seventh.

Atcher repeats at Marshalltown during Central Iowa Fair

By Jeremy Fox MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 11) – Dave Atcher raced to a second straight IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature win Friday, during the Central Iowa Fair show at Marshalltown Speedway. Robbie Merkle led the first lap but Atcher was the story the next 17 times around the track. Donavon Smith worked his way to second while Steve Meyer, Michael Jaennette and Damon Murty rounded out a very formidable top five. Jon Snyder got the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified lead with five laps left and held off Ronn Lauritzen in the race to the checkers. Jared Van Deest led the last two circuits in the Big Eight Tyre Center IMCA Northern SportMod main Jenae Gustin got the lead on lap seven but just after taking the white flag her car shut off and Gustin spun, collecting second and third runners Clint Luellen and Ryan King. Kay wins a wild one in Dubuque Deery

DUBUQUE, Iowa (July 13) – He’s won six straight races at Dubuque Speedway this season and eight in a row dating back to last year. But Justin Kay has never won a race anywhere like he did at Dubuque on Sunday night. Kay inherited the lead in the Deery Brothers Summer Series main event when Mike Murphy Jr. broke with seven circuits left in the IMCA Late Model tour 50-lapper. Brian Harris then came from deep in the field to challenge before getting into the wall with two to go. Auringer earns second Hogan Memorial win at Benton County Speedway

By Ryan Clark VINTON, Iowa (July 13) – The last time J.D. Auringer won the Hogan Memorial, he led every lap except one. He did himself one better Sunday night at Benton County Speedway. Auringer, who first won the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified special in 2007, led all 40 laps Sunday night to earn his second victory in the event’s 20-year history. Auringer earned $1,250 for winning the race, plus $2,250 in lap money and the halfway leader bonus and additional bonus money to bring his total share of the purse to $3,850. Kay, Marolf tires pass post-Deery test

VINTON, Iowa (July 11) – Results from the July 8 Deery Brothers Summer Series event at West Liberty are now official, as testing at an independent lab showed that samples from the tires of the top two finishers conformed to IMCA benchmarks. Justin Kay was the winner and Nick Marolf the runner-up. Tire samples have now been tested following multiple sanctioned races, two of them being IMCA Late Model tour events this season. Those tires were determined to be IMCA legal in each occasion.

Hawkeye State Speedweek sports three XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour dates

Carter doubles up at Southern Iowa

Carter took the lead on lap eight and stayed in front to the Stock Car finish. He shot out to the early lead in the Modified go and never looked back in taking his first local win of the season in that division.
