By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (May 3, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars delivered the race of the night at Eagle Raceway, with Mason Richards prevailing in a thrilling 20-lap showdown against Kyle Vanover. Trading the lead multiple times and battling door-to-door for much of the main event, Richards edged Vanover in a dramatic finish that had the crowd on its feet. Vanover worked the high side to seize the lead on the opening lap before an early caution slowed the pace. On the restart, Richards rolled the bottom to briefly take the lead on lap six, but Vanover used the outside line to edge back ahead the following time around. For several laps, the two battled door-to-door, with Tyler Jackson entering the picture in third. Richards regained the top spot on lap 11 with a smooth run through the center while Vanover experimented with lower lines to stay in the fight. With just two laps remaining, lapped traffic bunched the leaders back up and allowed Vanover one last chance. He exited turn four with [Read More]

Mackenthun Masters Make-Up Main at Park Jefferson

By Ben Deatherage  JEFFERSON, S.D. (May 2, 2025) — A thrilling Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature—rescheduled from April 18—unfolded Friday night at Park Jefferson Speedway, with Minnesota’s Dan Mackenthun emerging victorious in the 18-lap contest. Aaron Cain led early and built a strong advantage as Greg Peck and Devin Tripp waged war for second. A caution on lap 3 reset the field, and Tripp used the restart to charge the high side, pulling alongside Cain on the backstretch before taking the lead. A caution waved and Mackenthun momentarily took the lead on the next green, only for another yellow to erase the pass. On the ensuing restart, Tripp pushed too high, lost positions, but was rescued by yet another caution. Mackenthun kept the pressure on, and when Tripp bobbled in turn four on lap 8, the Hamburg, Minnesota veteran capitalized and never looked back. The 10-time reigning Minnesota State and 13-time Arlington Raceway track champion dominated the second half of the race to notch his first EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region win of 2025. Jimmy Ford: Racing Through Loss, Guided by Love

By Ben Deatherage YUBA CITY, Calif. (May 2, 2025) — The first win of a new season always feels special. For Jimmy Ford, the checkered flag he claimed at Rattlesnake Raceway on April 18 meant far more. “It feels like the weight is off my shoulders,” said Ford. “It was a special win. I lost my wife in February and it’s the first one that I’ve won since she’s been gone, and it meant a lot to me. The last race I won with her was at Rattlesnake in October.” That win, in the no. 12T Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod, was the kind that transcends stats. It was about love, grief, healing—and remembering someone who never missed a race. A Racing Life from Day One Ford’s path to the racetrack was practically preordained. His grandfather, Nick Burcher, owned race cars from the time he was 18 until he was 78. Ford went to his first race when he was just three months old. By the time he was five, he was behind the wheel of [Read More]

Martini Charges to SportMod Victory in North Central Speedway Season Opener

By Chris Kolstad BRAINERD, Minn. (Apr. 26, 2025) — North Central Speedway launched its 2025 season with a thrilling night of Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly racing, headlined by Bud Martini’s remarkable comeback in the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods feature. Starting from the 10th position, Martini swiftly moved into the top three by lap four. However, contact with second-place T.J. Wyman in turn one brought out a caution and sent Martini to the rear of the field. Undeterred, he methodically worked his way back through the pack. A pivotal moment occurred with six laps remaining when leader Tim Bergerson spun, collecting Wyman and Jake Kierstad. This incident allowed Martini to re-enter the top five. On the ensuing restart, the Avon veteran surged past the front runners, seizing the lead with four laps to go and holding off a hard-charging Wyman to secure his first North Central Speedway win of the season and third overall in 2025. Bergerson managed to finish third. In the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars feature, Tim Johnson started on the front row alongside [Read More]

Westergard Prevails Late in Skagit Season Opener

By Ben Deatherage ALGER, Wash. (Apr. 26, 2025) — Jeff Westergard kicked off the 2025 Friesen Performance IMCA Modified campaign at Skagit Speedway in style, overcoming early traffic and late-race pressure to earn his first Shaw Race Cars Western Region victory of the season. Adam Holtrop jumped to the early lead in the 25-lap main event before a flurry of mid-pack battles began to unfold. On a restart, Vancouver Island’s Geoff Morris, the 2023 Skagit Speedway track champion, powered into second before being shuffled back by James Bundy and Westergard. Bundy closed on Holtrop before a lap eight caution slowed the field. On the ensuing restart, Morris flipped in a multi-car tangle in turn four, bringing out the red flag. Westergard capitalized on the next restart, moving into second and then methodically pressuring Holtrop over several laps. Westergard finally found daylight on lap 16, slipping past Holtrop to take the lead. From there, the Sedro-Woolley driver pulled away, with only a late caution threatening his advantage.
