Belec is best at Lincoln County

(June 13) – Eddie Belec, Chad Dolan, Casey Werkmeister, Jacob Olmstead and Blake Fletcher all claimed checkered flag finishes to punch their ticket to the winner’s circle at Lincoln County Raceway on Saturday evening. Getting off to a fast start and being in contention for the lead, Belec was finally able to drive off the cushion to snare the lead in the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature on the ninth lap and never looked back to notch the victory. Jesse Taylor started in the fifth row and cruised to a second place finish. Scoring another win at Lincoln County was Dolan as he paced the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main event after starting in row five. First checkers for Moede fly at Oshkosh

(June 12) – Derek Moede took the lead on the 18th lap, then took his career first Total Power Sales IMCA Stock Car checkers during his first visit to Oshkosh SpeedZone Raceway Friday night. Cody Scray owned the top spot the first 16 times around the track before Larry Karcz Jr. led for a single circuit before Moede drove by. Karcz ended in second while Tom Brumlic was a personal Oshkosh best-ever in third. Johnny Whitman was a first-time local winner in the Automotive Supply Company IMCA Modified main, inches ahead of Jay Matthias. Brock Saunders surged ahead on the white flag lap and held on to pick up his first Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod career feature win at Oshkosh. Lucas Lamberies was second.

Johnson parlays Dacotah pole start into IMCA Modified feature win

MANDAN, N.D. (June 12) – Wayne Johnson led all 25 laps from the pole to win Friday night’s Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature over Jason Wolla at Dacotah Speedway. Johnson quickly distanced himself from the field as Herb Bargmann and Bradly Steffes battled for second. Wolla, who started 12th, made his way through the pack and passed Jerad Thelen for fourth. Wolla had the fastest car on the track at the time and ran down Bargmann and Steffes as they tussled over second. Wolla passed both on the same turn and started cutting into Johnson’s large lead. Thelen passed Steffes and Bargmann to take third. With 10 laps to go, Wolla caught Johnson and a caution with six laps to go kept him on his rear bumper. Johnson started to pull away from Wolla but back-to-back cautions set up a green, white, checkered finish. Wolla couldn’t shake Johnson, who held on for the victory.

Green takes Dodge City checkers

(June 13) – Scott Green battled into the lead on the third round and held off a closing Austin Allen in the closing stages of Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified 20-lapper for his first Dodge City Raceway Park win of the year Saturday night Green worked past Nick Link for the point and after a rash of cautions in the opening five circuits was able to slip away from the field as the battle waged behind him. With Randy Wilson holding second, Allen and Joe Cleveland traded the third spot numerous times before Allen finally took command of the position on the 15th lap. Allen disposed of Wilson one lap later and quickly began reeling in the leader. Allen closed to Green’s decklid with two laps to go but Green was flawless over the final pair of circuits to beat Allen to the stripe by a pair of car lengths. Owen earns first Cottage Grove Speedway checkers

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (June 13) – In the right place at the right time, Jimmy Owen was the winner of Saturday’s Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature at Cottage Grove Speedway. Gene Ashley seemed to have the car to beat but experienced mechanical problems that took him out of the race. Hometown chauffeur Owen inherited the lead and went on to win his first career CGS race in front of the full house.

Johnny DeYoung Jr. wins at Crystal

CRYSTAL, Mich. (June 13) – Johnny DeYoung Jr. pulled off the win over A.J. Ward in Saturday’s All-Star Performance IMCA Modified feature at Crystal Motor Speedway. The win was dedicated in remembrance of John DeYoung Sr., the patriarch of the DeYoung racing family, who passed away last week. Chance Hoppes was second, followed by Joe Fowler. One hundred and forty-five cars were entered on CMS Internet Night at Crystal.

Williamson tops IMCA Wild West Tour opener at Southern Oregon

(June 13) – Jesse Williamson took a big first step toward his career third Wild West Modified Shootout title by winning the opening night feature Saturday at Southern Oregon Speedway. Williamson grabbed the top spot and seemed to have the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified field covered before things got a little interesting toward the end. Several cautions kept the field bunched but Williamson stayed out front and took the $1,000 checkers, his tour career seventh. Jerry Schram was second and defending Shootout champion Alex Stanford was third. Collen Winebarger and Nick Trenchard completed the top five. Williamson, champion of the 2012 and 2013 Shootouts, was already a candidate for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Forty Modifieds from half a dozen states vied Saturday. Droste delivers memorable win at Independence Motor Speedway

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (June 13) – It was a storybook night for Budweiser IMCA Late Model driver Tyler Droste at Independence Motor Speedway. Not only did Droste celebrate his 19th birthday in victory lane, but he did it with Late Model legends Gary Crawford, Ed Sanger and Curt Hansen on-hand to present the trophy in victory lane. The three former drivers, who competed against Droste’s grandfather Red in the 1960s and 1970s, were in attendance to honor the memory of the speedway’s first promoter, Vern Weber, who passed away last winter. Jerry King took the lead at the drop of the green and was pestered by Luke Pestka while Droste worked through the pack from a fifth row start. Droste made his way into the top five on the 11th of 25 laps and powered into second before caution slowed action on the 20th circuit.
