Delta-Valley Classic Weekend on tap at Antioch, Merced

ANTIOCH, Calif. – The fourth annual Delta-Valley Classic will bring a close to the IMCA season at Antioch and Merced Speedways this Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 26 and 27. The event is expected to draw cars from throughout the region for the large purse money offered. “It’s part of my plan. I’ll be there,” said Bobby Hogge IV, after Saturday’s Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified win at Antioch. Hogge IV won both ends of the Delta-Valley Classic four years ago, collecting a bonus for winning at both tracks. He is the only driver to date to accomplish that feat. He’ll face stiff competition from a long list of drivers, including Paul Stone. Four IMCA divisions featured at Sherman County’s Flatlander

GOODLAND, Kan. – A pair of $2,000 to win Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified main events take top billing at Sherman County Speedway’s 26th annual Flatlander Fall Classic special on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 25 and 26. Both features are qualifying races for the 2016 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot and pay a minimum of $125 to start. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $500 to win, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods for $400 to win and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $300 to win each night. Bonuses for the drivers with top two-day point totals are $500 for the Modifieds, $300 for the Stock Cars, $250 for the SportMods and $200 for the Hobby Stocks. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded both nights. Racing is at 5:30 p.m. Mountain Time both days and both shows are draw/redraw. Aikey tops Yankee, Kay repeats as Deery Series champion

FARLEY, Iowa (Sept. 19) – Jeff Aikey and Justin Kay both posted second straight wins Saturday at Farley Speedway’s Yankee Dirt Track Classic. Aikey backed up his IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s victory with a convincing run to the $7,500 checkers ahead of Nick Marolf in the 100-lap Deery Brothers Summer Series main event. Kay finished third and cemented his second consecutive IMCA Late Model tour championship. Scott Fitzpatrick led the first 10 times around the oval before the fourth starting Aikey took charge. Marolf was able to make up ground as Aikey worked his way patiently through lapped traffic, but was never able to catch the leader. “I tried to keep the car as straight as I could and didn’t slide the tires. Melton gets first career, SST wins at Mountain Creek

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Sept. 18) – She’s racked up a lot of seconds and a lot of thirds in her three-plus IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Car seasons. Michelle Melton now has her career first win in the class to brag about following the Friday night Sprint Series of Texas show at Mountain Creek Speedway. Melton passed Russell Shoulders for the lead coming out of turn two on the 19th of 20 laps. “It was awesome. I was ecstatic,” said Melton, who gave the trophy to her dad to put on display in their race shop. Making just her fourth SST start, Melton took the initial green flag from the 11th spot and steadily worked her way toward the front. She passed Kenny Elwood for second after a caution with three laps left. “I had to keep my line and stay on the bottom. Feature winner Harris honors veterans on VFW Night

(Sept. 19) – After taking the checkers on VFW Night at Eastside Speedway, Virginia Sprint Series feature winner Jerald Harris first thanked those who’d served the red, white and blue. Anthony Linkenhoker and Bill Rice had paced the IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Car field to green for the feature with Linkenhoker out first and Rice right behind with Glenn Worrell third. On lap three, Worrell went low and into second with Harris working his way up as well. Worrell shadowed Linkenhoker until lap seven went he again used his low move and took the lead. Harris moved to second two laps later. Harris closed on Worrell with 10 laps to go and the two went at it for two circuits before Harris used the middle groove to go for the lead where he stayed for his fifth win of the year. BEATRICE, Neb. – The final checkers of 2015 fly at Beatrice Speedway this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 25 and 26. Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified features are on September Fest programs both nights in $1,500 to win, minimum $125 to start qualifying events for the 2016 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Championship night wraps up season at Lincoln County

(Sept. 19) – Looking to secure their positions in the final point standings, many racers were able to enhance their positions by their performance during Championship Night at Lincoln County Raceway on Saturday. Finishing their season with a trip to the winner’s circle were Dave Pederson, Chad Dolan, Casey Werkmeister, Jacob Olmstead and Jordan Biere. Leading from the drop of the green flag was Pederson tin the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature. Pederson jumped to the point from his front row start and never looked back. Runner-up was Jeremy Herbst and Cole Hodges was third. Working his way through traffic, Dolan snared the lead on the ninth lap and cruised to the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod victory. Karlnoski repeats Black Rock success with second Empire State Series win

DUNDEE, N.Y. (Sept. 18) – There were mechanical issues before and after the Empire State Series event at Black Rock Speedway, but nothing happened in between to prevent Rich Karlnoski from leading all 30 laps of the feature for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds. Karlnoski discovered a broken electrical wire that prevented him from even starting his car before the race started. He pulled into victory lane with a broken shifter and had to be towed across the post-race scales. “The stars were aligned for us. It was quite a night. To win made it worthwhile,” said Karlnoski, who earned $500. “It was a good clean race and the car had the right balance. The old girl wants to pull the left front and it’s hooked up. VINTON, Iowa – The 2015 campaign comes to a close this Sunday, Sept. 20 with season championship night at Benton County Speedway.
