Droste tops Tri-Track Challenge at Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa (May 29) – Dubuque Speedway hosted the Ideal Ready Mix Tri-Track Challenge on Sunday night with a season-high 88 race teams taking part in the extra special night of racing.

Twenty-eight Out Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Model drivers signed in looking to capture the $2,000 first place prize money. The 50-lap main provided the fans with plenty of excitement as the lead changed hands several times before young up and coming driver Tyler Droste was able to secure the top spot with 20 laps to go.

Droste broke away from a pack of race lead contenders late in the race and scored the win ahead of Ray Guss Jr. while Johnny Emerson came on strong late in the race to take third.

The Merfeld Brothers Automotive IMCA Modified feature saw a pair of Dubuque drivers battle to the checkers with Jeremiah Hurst scoring the win ahead of Jason Schueller. Ryan DeShaw led early and settled for third while running with the leaders the entire 20 laps.

Tyler Soppe bested the field of 27 GSI Collision Specialists IMCA Northern SportMods. Soppe advanced from his fourth row start to overtake early leader K.C. Ansel en route to the win. Ansel got to the checkers in second ahead of Scott Busch.

Tim Schnieder scored his first IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature at Dubuque, holding off David Brandies and Jerry Miles in the 15-lapper.
