Arizona IMCA Modified Tour updates schedule to include Canyon stops

YUMA, Ariz. – Eight $1,250 to win main events take top billing when the inaugural IMCA Arizona Modified Tour ventures to Cocopah Speedway, Arizona Speedway, Canyon Speedway Park and San Tan Ford Central Arizona Speedway. Each IMCA Modified feature is a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying event and a minimum of $150 will be paid to make the 24-car fields. All eight programs will be broadcast by IMCA.TV and also featured on MAV-TV. 281 has new promoters for 20th IMCA season

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The 20th season for IMCA racing at 281 Speedway will be the first under the promotional guidance of Joe Spillman and Heather Combs. Their C&S Promotions partnership oversees Saturday night programs on the ¼-mile dirt oval beginning with opening night on March 4. The point season for IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts runs through Sept. 16. C&S has promoted a couple enduros, both held at Heart O’ Texas Speedway, and signed the lease at 281 in early December. Faster Pastor race set, seeking pastors

AUBURN, Mich. – Tri-City Motor Speedway has released the date for the annual Faster Pastor race, to be held on July 14. The Faster Pastor Race is an annual fundraiser for area churches. Pastors affirm this is a unique team building opportunity that allows them to connect with people in their congregation in ways they have not been able to in the past. Pastors may self-nominate to participate through April 30. Eight pastors will be selected to race for a charity of their choice. All charities will receive the amount of money each pastor raises and the winner of the race will receive bragging rights and a six-foot trophy for the year. Four IMCA divisions featured at Canyon’s Winter Challenge

PEORIA, Ariz. – IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win and berths on the Fast Shafts Allstar Invitational all four nights of the Winter Challenge Series at Canyon Speedway Park. Saturday and Sunday Jan. 21-22 and Jan. 28-29 programs also feature IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods in $500 to win features while IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock chase $250 top checks. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, Allstar Performance State and special series, but no local track points will be given all four nights. Rookie Welshonse finishes close second at Southern Oregon

For James Welshonse, he would make his debut in 2016 in this stacked group of drivers at White City’s Southern Oregon Speedway. The nearby Medford native had limited experience prior to the campaign including a handful of SportMod starts and a couple of years in both the street stock and mini stock ranks. Winter Heat Challenge Series starts season at Perris

PERRIS, Calif. – Pit gates open at noon and racing starts at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21 when the Winter Heat Challenge Series starts the 2017 season at Perris Auto Speedway. The grandstand opens and hot laps for the IMCA Modifieds start at 2 p.m. There is no entry fee; pit passes are $50. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $5 for active military personnel and students ages 13-18 with ID, and for kids ages six through 12. Youngsters five and under get in free.
