Alec Fett races to career highlight win at MaxYield Seed SportMod Nationals

By Chad Meyer BRITT, Iowa (June 16) – Alec Fett raced to a career highlight win Tuesday night, getting the best of Brian Osantowski at Hancock County Speedway’s MaxYield Seed SportMod Nationals. The $2,500 Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod victory came in a nailbiter as Fett had to race his way back to the front and outrun Osantowski and his brother Colby to the stripe. Fett had won the first heat and finished second in the dash, which put him in the preferred outside line of row for the initial start of the main event. Alec led by narrow margin with Colby on the low line. Osantowski had opted to not run the dash to save his car, forcing him to start 10th in the main, but by mid-point of the feature was challenging Alec Fett. IMCA Mountain States Tour visits Big Sky, Sheridan Speedway

BILLINGS, Mont. – Two $1,000 to win, Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying events are on the schedule during the upcoming Mountain States Tour for IMCA Modifieds. Big Sky Speedway at Billings Mont., hosts Friday and Saturday, June 26 and 27 shows. Sheridan Speedway in Wyoming is the site of Sunday and Monday, June 28 and 29 events. Opening night races at each track pay $600 to win while night two features pay $1,000. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Shaw Race Cars Western Region, state and track points will be given each night. Contingency awards go to top five drivers in four-day point standings for the tour. Car and driver is $50 for the first night and $75 for the second night at both tracks. $1,000, All-Star ballot berth on the line Saturday for IMCA Modifieds at 34

WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa – A $1,000 check and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth are on the line for IMCA Modifieds this Saturday at 34 Raceway. The June 20 program also features IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods. Spectator admission is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and students, and free for kids 10 and under accompanying a paid adult. IMCA Modifieds chase $1,500 check at I-30’s Scrapp Fox Memorial

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – IMCA Modifieds race for $1,500 to win and a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth at I-30 Speedway’s Saturday, June 20 Scrapp Fox Memorial. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Jet Racing Central Region, Arkansas State and track points are also at stake at the 18th annual event. The $50 entry fee includes the driver’s pit pass if paid by June 19. Pit passes are $30 on race day and spectator admission is $15 for adults, $1 for kids ages 6-12 and free for ages five and under. Werner, Walters are URSS winners at RPM

HAYS, Kan. (June 13-14) – Jed Werner and Koby Walters ran the string of Mel Hambelton Ford Racing POWERi United Rebel Sprint Series winners to four in as many events, when the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car series joined the Mike Hughes Memorial Sunflower Classic slate at RPM Speedway. Werner got a run on race-long leader Shane Sundquist down the backstretch with just three laps to go to claim the opening night event on Saturday. Walters took the lead just before midway and never looked back to claim Sunday honors. Only two car lengths separated the front pair with five laps to go on Saturday. Lap 23 saw Werner get a run on the top side coming out of turn two and storm past Sundquist down the back stretch to take the lead. Sprint win by Reed highlights night of firsts at Cotton Bowl

PAIGE, Texas (June 13) – On a night of firsts at Cotton Bowl Speedway, Willy Reed won his first Southern United Sprints feature in his first visit to the Paige speedplant. And his mother Roxanne got to watch the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car excitement unfold from the grandstand. “This was my first win in a Sprint Car. My mother had never seen me race before in the class and I didn’t even know she was there,” said Reed. “I was pretty excited about it. She was pretty excited, too.” Reed made a couple RaceSaver starts last season and ran third in the series opener last week at Cleveland. Contingency forms now posted on IMCA website

VINTON, Iowa – Contingency forms for drivers in five divisions are now available through the IMCA website. IMCA Modified, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMod drivers can access those forms utilizing the forms pulldown at the top of the home page. Forms can be filled out and returned electronically or printed and mailed to the IMCA home office along with a car photos proving decal placement. The Aug. 1 deadline for submitting contingency forms has been suspended, noted IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder, to ensure that as many drivers as possible have the opportunity to sign up.

Eight drivers new to Fast Shafts All-Star ballot

VINTON, Iowa – Another eight IMCA Modified drivers have raced their way onto the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot by winning special or weekly features paying $1,000 or more. Ricky Alvarado and Tanner Black both won Rudy Yeager Memorial features at Sweetwater Speedway. Jim Thies topped Park Jefferson Speedway’s Memorial Duel. Collen Winebarger swept Covid-19 special and George Steitz Memorial features at Antioch Speedway, then took the checkers on night two of the High Desert Classic at Winnemucca Regional Raceway. Tyler Stevens led the way to the finish line at Legit Speedway’s Scrappin’ 40. Arneson adds Don Gumke Racers’ Memorial win at Jamestown to IMCA Modified resume

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (June 13) – An IMCA Modified driver with a knack for winning big races won another of them Saturday night at Jamestown Speedway. Austin Arneson led all 30 laps in topping the Don Gumke Racers’ Memorial while Jason Grimes finished second in Gumke’s no. 2 car, which had come out of the Arneson shop. “It’s pretty cool any time you can win a memorial race, especially when you knew the guy,” said Arneson. “I’m proud to say I’ve accomplished this. Benton County duel goes to Cordes

By Jerry Mackey VINTON, Iowa (June 14) – Sunday’s IMCA Modified 20-lap feature saw long-time Benton County Speedway racer Troy Cordes outduel Dylan Thornton from California for the win. The two traded the lead several times before Cordes was able to take control late in the race. Thornton ran a close second ahead of last week’s winner Tom Berry Jr. The IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature belonged to Shawn Ritter. He ran the extreme low line the entire race and held back Damon Murty in getting to the checkers first. Outside front row starter Tony Olson put on a dominating performance in winning the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod main. Olson ran the extreme high side the entire race in leading flag to flag.
