Whiteaker, Williams are first at I-37 Frostbuster

By J.M. Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (Feb. 27) Oh, the irony of the show title. After suffering through a week of weather better suited for the Arctic, it was time for the roar of race engines as I-37 Speedway kicked off the 2021 season with its Frostbuster Saturday night after an open practice on Friday. With north Texas tracks suffering rain outs to their opening weekend shows, some drivers took the opportunity to travel south, or further south as was the case for several out of state teams. The track was also able to add the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars to the night’s slate running for IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing national, EQ Cylinder Heads Southern Region and KMJ Performance State points. Debuting a new car can be tough sometimes getting all the bugs worked out but Steve Whiteaker Jr. proved that wrong, taking home the IMCA Modified 20-lap feature win on its maiden voyage.  Danny Patterson was first to turn one but it was former track champion Rick Green going around him to lead lap one. Florida Mod Lite Racing plans 11 dates at East Bay in first IMCA STARS season

TAMPA, Fla. – The IMCA STARS sanction is the next step in the right direction for Florida Mod Lite Racing.  Home track East Bay Raceway Park at Tampa is the site of 11 events and will crown its first IMCA STARS Mod Lite champion in 2021. It’s anticipated that another half-dozen special events at other area tracks will complement East Bay shows.  “Sanctioning with IMCA is a step in the right direction. It’s a perfect fit,” said first-year FMLR promoter Alex Cline. “There are no huge-budget teams and we’re not racing for giant purses. A guy with a six to 10-year-old car has as much chance to win every Saturday night as a guy with a new car.”  Cline brought a dirt kart background to the division when he started racing a Mod Lite in 2019. He led until late in the first-ever IMCA STARS Mod Lite feature before teammate Bo Bass took the history-making checkers. “There a lot of things to like about the Mod Lites, starting with the affordability and ease of working [Read More]

EAST MOLINE, Ill. – STARS Mod Lites become the fifth IMCA division on Sunday race programs at East Moline Speedway in 2021. “We’ve had Mod Lites for about seven years.
