Keller captures IMCA Modified checkers, Sandberg scores 10th straight at Dacotah

By Rebecca Rattei MANDAN, N.D. (May 28) – Jeremy Keller held off Casey Arneson for the IMCA Modified feature win on Military Appreciation Night at Dacotah Speedway. Scott Gartner and Travis Tooley battled for the early lead and Tooley grabbed the front spot before a caution regrouped the field. On the restart, Gartner lost positions to Spencer Wilson, Shawn Strand, Arneson and Marlyn Seidler. As Tooley started to pull away, Keller cracked the top five and quickly passed Arneson, Strand and Wilson. Keller reeled in Tooley and took the lead with 10 laps to go. A couple late-race cautions erased Keller’s large lead and put a speedy Arneson on his rear bumper. But on the final restart, Arneson struggled to get around Keller. Wilson wheels to victory lane in IMCA STARS Mod Lite Challenge Series

MURFREESBORO, Ark. (May 29) – Blake Wilson took his IMCA STARS Mod Lite to the winner’s circle from mid-pack on Saturday night at the Diamond Park Speedway’s second of five schedule Challenge Series races. Early on, it was pole sitter Jace Reid who set the pace. Not to be out done, James Rollins and Jimmy Brown both battled for and at one point held the race lead. Methodically, the 10th starting Wilson stalked the field and worked his way through traffic. Chance Hull followed Wilson, his starting row neighbor, toward the front and put himself in the mix for the lead at about mid-way until a caution came out for an airborne Charles Armstrong II on the front stretch. Dotson goes 4-for-4 at Bakersfield CK Nationals

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (May 29-30) – A 4-for-4 holiday weekend wrapped up with Ethan Dotson adding $5,000 to his IMCA winnings. Dotson swept IMCA Modified and IMCA Sunoco Stock Car features at hometown Bakersfield Speedway’s CK Nationals, putting on the final touches with a flag-to-flag run in front of Sunday’s $5,000 to win Modified headliner. “It’s cool,” said Dotson, adding plugs for event promoter Chris Kearns and Salty’s BBQ and Catering. “It was a pretty good weekend.” He battled eventual runner-up Kyle Heckman in both Saturday features, pocketing $1,200 for the Modified win and another $500 for the Stock Car victory. Registration begins for Aug. 3 Harris Clash

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. – IMCA Modified and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod drivers can register now through MyRacePass to be part of the Aug. 3 Harris Clash at Deer Creek Speedway. Modifieds race for $3,000 to win their Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier while the Northern SportMods run for $1,200 to win at the 30th annual Clash, IMCA’s longest continuously running one-day special. The Modified winner earns an additional $500 if their chassis builder participates in the Harris Clash manufacturers’ cup. The race of champions, sponsored by Wehrs Machine and Racing Products, pays $1,000 to win and $100 to start. Dallon Murty brings home bacon with Whole Hog 50 IMCA Stock Car win at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (May 31) – Dallon Murty brought home the bacon Monday night, with the $5,000 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature win at Stuart Speedway’s inaugural Whole Hog 50. The big win carried with it an automatic starting spot in the B & B Chassis All-Star race at the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s and came ahead of Johnathon Logue and 10th starting Kelly Shryock. Sunday qualifying winners Murty and Luke Lemmens led the field to green for their 50-lap main event, with Murty and Lemmens running 1-2 over the first 14 laps. A caution bunched the field and Logue took advantage to jump into second as Murty continued to lead. Lap 16 saw Jeff Mueller and Chanse Hollatz having a tangle in turn three that led to a light rollover by Todd Reitzler. Reitzler was OK but his night was over. CORONA, Calif. – STARS Mod Lites become the latest addition to Eibach Springs’ post-season awards program with IMCA. KMJ Performance state champions in the newest sanctioned division, as well as IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Late Models, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and Smiley’s Racing Products all receive $100 certificates from the Corona, Calif., manufacturer. Gould, local veterans are big winners in All Star Shootout finale at Heart O’ Texas

WACO, Texas (May 30) – William Gould and organizations assisting veterans in the Waco area were big winners on the night before Memorial Day at Heart O’ Texas Speedway. Gould raced from 12th to win the All Star Shootout fueled by Fast Shafts IMCA Modified main event, earning $1,000, plus $500 bonuses for his second All Star win of the week and $250 for perfect attendance throughout the five-race Shootout. And local veterans’ groups will be getting $2,660, the amount raised in the evening’s Modified drivers’ auction. Gould gaveled at $400 and, appreciating the buyer’s confidence, told him to keep what would have been his share, half those proceeds. Cordes has record-breaking night at the Bullring

VINTON, Iowa (May 30) – Troy Cordes made a little history Sunday night at the Benton County Speedway Bullring. Not only did he score his third straight win and fourth in five weeks in the KISS Country 96.5 IMCA Modifieds, he became just the third driver in track history to earn 60 wins on the quarter-mile. From a fifth row start, Cordes worked the high groove to perfection and found himself in contention at the midway point. He made his way around leader Ryan Maitland and set sail on the way to his career first three-race winning streak at the Bullring. Wojtek caught William Gould for the lead 11 laps into the IMCA Modified main event, then outran Gould and Jacob Pirkle to the $1,000 checkers. “We weren’t too good in the heat. Gould raced from the 10th starting spot to the lead midway through the All Star Shootout fueled by Fast Shafts headliner, then held off a pair of hard chargers in Jacob Pirkle and Jon White to the $1,000 checkers. “I like a fast track with more than one line and I like a short track,” Gould said. “This track was everything I like.
