Dotson takes first win, Reynolds goes back-to-back at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 18) – It was a full night of racing at the Marshalltown Speedway on Friday where it was RBF Electric Night. In IMCA STARS Mod Lite feature racing, Dillon Raffurty of Kansas City, Mo., raced for the first time this year at the track, led lap one, and never gave it up the rest of the way to the checkers. He finished far ahead of second place Josh May and third place Kaden Cochrun who battled back and forth for position from lap five on. Garrett Stonum started well back in the starting field and finished fourth and Cory Sonner finished fifth. This wasn’t Raffurty’s first trip to victory Lane at Marshalltown. Hansen, Tafoya rock Sweetwater foes for IMCA Modified Wild West Tour wins

ROCK SPRINGS, Wy. (June 18-19) – Chase Hansen found the secret to a good draw and Regan Tafoya finally found his way to victory lane when the IMCA Pitt Stop Motorsports Wild West Tour made its annual visit to Sweetwater Speedway. Hansen simply opted to take the last pill left and won Friday’s IMCA Modified feature after being rewarded with the pole start. Tafoya, whose recent Rock Springs luck has been sketchy at best, got the lead back following a restart with six laps to go in winning the Saturday feature. Batesville reschedules $1,500 to win IMCA Auto King special

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The IMCA Modified king or queen of Batesville Motor Speedway’s Auto King Modified Madness show takes home the top check of $1,500. Rescheduled from earlier in the month due to wet grounds, the Friday, June 25 special at Batesville is a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier and pays $1,000 for second, $500 for third and a minimum of $75 to start. Speed Demon Performance Parts gives a $200 case bonus to the hard charger and the hard luck driver goes home with a Hoosier G-60 tire. There is no entry fee and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars are also on the card. Pit passes are $35. Grandstand admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-11 and free for five and under. Jackson outlasts field, Possenecker repeats, Jansen shines at Wagner

WAGNER, S.D. (June 18) – Week number seven of the Fort Randall Casino and Hotel Weekly Racing Series at Wagner Speedway saw plenty of action from start to finish, presented by Best Propane and Nedved Dirtworks of Wagner. The IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature became a test of endurance, with several cautions and mechanical issues. Once the dust settled, Dustin Jackson won the event from the 12th starting spot. Another competitor who put on a show was Jordan Vosika. Starting 10th on the field, Vosika had worked his way to the top five when he was collected in a yellow flag stoppage and was sent to the tail of the field. From then on, he avoided further concerns and drove all the way back to take an impressive runner-up finish. Snellenberger is hot at Outagamie

By Edward Anschutz SEYMOUR, Wis. (June 18) – “Hot” Rod Snellenberger secured his first win of the season in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars Friday at Outagamie Speedway. Ronnie Otto paced the opening circuits until Aaron Stolp took over on lap three. Stolp was immediately dogged by Snellenberger. Snellenberger went to work, slipping by Stolp on lap nine. Snellenberger set sail, pulling away from the field for his first win of the season. Stolp had to settle for second, point leader Brandon Czarapata was third, Logan Leary took fourth and Brett Wenzel completed the top five. Jerry Wilinski took the top spot early in the IMCA Modified feature. Wilinski worked the low groove as Tyler Wilson began working through the field. Wilson used the top groove to reel in Wilinski and on lap nine took the lead away. Wilson pulled away to score the win and a clean sweep to boot. Out of the field, Strothman wins on the track at CJ

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (June 18) – On a warm sultry night, racing action went on at the CJ Speedway with a quick racing program being run just before rains moved in at the Louisa County Fairgrounds. The headliner of the night was the 20-lap IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature and on Friday night it belonged to Corey Strothman. The C4 of Strothman started on the front row and was never seriously challenged as he raced to the win. The action behind Strothman was hot and heavy as several drivers took their turns racing in the second position. When the checkers flew it was Adam Bell crossing under the checkers in second ahead of Kirk Kinsley and Shane Richardson. Strothman stated in victory lane, “We are finally caught up on the farm so it is now time to start racing.” Brandon Banks chased down early leader Kyle Madden and took the lead in the 20-lap IMCA Modified feature and went on to score his second feature win in a row at CJ Speedway. Sites tops IMCA Modifieds at The Hill

MONROETON, Pa. (June 18) – Brad Sites topped the IMCA Modified feature on a night when threatening skies, a few raindrops during intermission and green blobs on the weather radar were concerns at The Hill Speedway. After a spin in turn one by Gary Lamphere forced a second try at starting the feature, Keith Lamphere, Shawn Bruce, and Tyler Stoddard battled for the early lead. J.W. Lamphere brought out the caution on lap eight and Stoddard dropped from contention with a quick pit stop during the caution before Bruce took command on the restart. Brad Sites made an inside move to take the runner-up spot from Keith Lamphere on the 10th lap and the battle was on between Bruce and Sites. Defending track champion Keith Jack Lamphere snagged the third spot and a lap 11 caution bunched up the lead trio. East Moline to reschedule Salute to Gary Webb event

By Rob Hinckley EAST MOLINE, Ill. (June 20) – Race fans had to grill out on Father’s Day instead of heading to East Moline Speedway. Ahead of approaching storms, track officials postponed Sunday evening’s Salute to Gary Webb IMCA Sunoco Late Model special with guest appearance by Ken Schrader. The amount of traveling race teams and high percentage of storms forced the decision. The event will be rescheduled for a later date to honor the 50-year racing career of Hall of Famer Gary Webb.

Bullring rained out Sunday, Benton County Fair races set for Thursday

VINTON, Iowa (June 20) – Much needed rainfall has forced the cancellation of the June 20 racing program at Benton County Speedway. Over half an inch of rain fell Sunday morning with more expected throughout the afternoon and evening hours. Next up at the speedway will be the annual Benton County Fair races this Thursday, June 24. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars presented by Albert Auto Service, Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMods presented by Christie Door Company, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks presented by Kwik Star and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts presented by Auto Crafters will compete for increased prize money during the Thursday fair special at the Bullring. Stock Cars compete for a $500 winner’s share, SportMods $750, Hobby Stocks $400 and Sport Compacts $250 in a draw/redraw event that will award state, regional and national IMCA points.
