Taycher teaches Northern SportMod lesson at Seymour

(June 8) – Joey Taycher assumed the lead in the Karl Chevrolet Northern Sport Mod main at the start and after a lone caution on lap three, took control and ran away from the field the rest of the distance Sunday at Seymour Speedway. Dennis Meisler, Lucas Lamberies, Jordan Barkholtz and Jordan Tuyls bunched behind running two- and three-wide chasing the leader. Tycher picked up his first feature win of the season with Lamberies taking the runner-up fin­ish. Jordan Barkholtz, Meisler and Jessi Ness rounded out the top five. The Budweiser IMCA Modifieds put 23 cars on the feature grid with T.J. Smith grabbing the lead at the start and Tyler Wilson, Tony Wedelstadt, Travis Spaulding and Brad Lautenbach behind. Repeat winners at Algona Raceway

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (June 7) – Each of the winners at the Algona Raceway on Saturday had previ­ously won a feature at the track in 2014. In the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature, polesitter Rob Hughes took the early lead and the race came to sudden halt as point leader Mike Jergens rolled his car going into turn number one but walked away from the incident. Off the restart on lap number six, Jeremy Mills went up on the high side and wrestled the lead away from Hughes. Once out in clean air, the Garner driver cruised to his second victory of the year with Hughes taking second. Eric Dailey was third with Austin Wolf placing fourth and Dustin Smith was fifth. David Wickman grabbed the early lead with a wild six-IMCA Sunoco Stock Car battle behind him battling for the first six laps. Ken Schrader returns to RPM, Murray is Modified winner

By Mike Hughes HAYS, Kan. (June 7) – NASCAR veteran Ken Schrader returned to RPM Speedway Saturday night, June 7 to compete in the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified division. Twenty-four cars started the 20-lap S & W Supply main event with outside polesitter Tim Watts jumping out to an early lead, trailed by Jesse Richter, Corey Lagroon, Brian Calhoon and Kevin Gray. Lagroon took over the top spot on lap three and held on to that position through lap 12. Then Da­vid Murray Jr. got under Lagroon in turns three and four on lap 13 and assumed command. The man on the move, however, was Kyle Rohleder. Rohleder reeled in Murray and was about to make a pass when the final caution waved on lap 18. Cole, Bryant repeat at Hancock County

By Greg Grabianowski BRITT, Iowa (June 6) – Blake Cole in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Ryan Bryant in the Mach-1 Sport Compacts Friday at Hancock County Speedway. Cole was the best for a second straight week in the always-competitive Stock Car class after starting on the outside of row two and holding off a serious challenge from the hard-charging David Smith. Bryant topped the Sport Compacts for a fourth straight week. The runner-up spot went to Megan Lappegard with Jacob Kofoot earning the third spot; Devin Jones was fourth and Taylor Earles finished fifth. Ned Kalis was third, Calvin Lange took fourth and Craig Berhow placed fifth. Jesse Hoeft used his front row outside starting position to full advantage in grabbing his first career IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature win, holding off a hard-charging Jeremy Mills, who started 11th. Durbin nearly pulls off the racing hat trick

By Brad Hines EAST MOLINE, Ill. (June 8) – It had been an up and down start to the 2014 season for Quad City Speedway regular Brandon Durbin. He made the switch to the IMCA Xtreme Motoro Sports Modified divisionduring the off-season and there had been a bit of a learning curve and some bad luck to start the season. Two weeks ago at Davenport Speedway Durbin finally got it figured out and took home the checkered flag. Then on Sunday night, Durbin nearly pulled off a racing hat trick. In the Toppert Services IMCA Modified make-up feature, Durbin held off a fierce challenge from Matt Werner, who was all over Durbin for majority of the 20-lap feature, to win the first race of the evening. Werner took second followed by Ray Cox Jr., Doug Crampton, who came charging through the field after an early caution sent him to the back of pack, and Brian Bushong. Carload Special for round four at Sunset Speedway Park

By Ben Deatherage BANKS, Ore. – Sunset Speedway Park is excited to get back into action this Saturday, June 7 for the fourth race program of 2014. Also for this event is Carload Special, which gets a carload, truck­load, RV-load, etc. of fans into the races for only $25. Classes in action include the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, Women’s and 4-Bee’s. Doug Lockwood and Bubba Foster are the only two drivers to have won in the IMCA Modifieds so far in 2014. John Ireland leads the table in victories in Street Stock competition with two over Earl Claypool Jr.’s one. Trevor LaBarge picked up a huge victory in the first Pure Stock race of the year last weekend. Autograph Night is June 7 at Thunderhill Raceway

By Edward Anschutz STURGEON BAY, Wis. – Race fans will be able to get autographs from their favorite drivers this Saturday, June 7 at Thunderhill Raceway. Dan Lewis Photography will have checkered flags for purchase to put those signatures on. The autograph session will take place at intermission. The night is sponsored by Jim Olson Motors of Sturgeon Bay. A brand new GM 602 crate engine will go to one lucky racer in the IMCA Northern SportMod or IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock division at the 2014 banquet courtesy of Jim Olson Motors. Algoma Motors Night is Friday at Luxemburg Speedway

By Greg Aregoni LUXEMBURG, Wis. – Luxemburg Speedway is locked, cocked and ready to unload some great racing action this Friday, June 6. Algoma Motors will be sponsoring the event which kicks off at 7 p.m. This show will include our weekly divisions. Troy Jerovetz picked up his first IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature win of the season last week. It was only his second night of the season at Luxemburg. Jason Czarapata shows the way in the standings ahead of young guns Brad Lautenbach and Johnny Whitman by six and eight points, respectively. Brandon Czarapata got back to his winning ways last week after heavy pressure from Rob Waechter. Czarapata increased his point lead with the win and now owns a six point advantage over Rod Snellenberger in IMCA Sunoco Stock Car standings. Sample is double winner in I-80 Challenge Series

BATTLE MOUNTAIN, Nev. (May 30-31) – Cory Sample couldn’t have asked for a better opening weekend for the inaugural I-80 Challenge Series. Sample won both IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified features, picking up $1,000 for Friday and Saturday, May 30 and 31 victories during Battle Mountain Raceway’s Frank Iturriaga NAPA Memorial special. “I had pretty good luck drawing all weekend so that helped,” said the new Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot candidate. “I’ve won $1,000 to win races before but never two of them back to back.” “The weekend before I’d broken the gas pedal at a $1,000 to win show in California,” he added, “so this was a whole lot better weekend.” Sample started on the Friday pole but fell back to third behind Ward Amberson and Randy Artz. Cooney is lightning fast in shortened Stuart show

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (June 1) –Cody Cleghorn and Shannon Anderson won the make-up features from the Ron Little Memorial a week ago, and Todd Cooney won a shortened IMCA Late Model feature before the weather took over again Sunday at Stuart Speedway. Cleghorn led all the way to pick up the Mach-1 Sport win. Anderson took charge on lap six of the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main and kept Austin Luellen at bay to the checkers. As the skies turned darker to the west and the heat races came to an end, the decision was made to move the IMCA Late Models up to the first feature with Randy Faux and Paul Conrad drawing the front row. Cooney flew into the lead on lap one with Faux and Conrad following in his tracks.
