Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Modified Tour online entries accepted starting today

Minot, ND (June 1) – Online registration begins today (Monday) for IMCA Modified and Stock Car drivers following the 26th annual Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour. “We set or equaled car count records for the Modifieds every night of the series last year and with increased payouts are confident of big numbers again this season,” Tour Director John Gartner said. “Drivers who want to speed up the entry process can go to the www.dakotamodtour.com website and complete the online form. “That way, their paperwork will already be done when they get to Nodak Speedway for opening night,” he continued. “All they have to do is pay pit pass fees.” Following the Sunday, July 5 opener at Minot, the series is at Estevan Motor Speedway on July 6, at Williston Basin Speedway on July 7, at Southwest Speedway on July 8, at Dacotah Speedway on July 9 and at Jamestown Speedway on July 10. IMCA Late Model veterans chase $500 bonuses at Marshalltown Deery

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (May 27) – Veterans of the IMCA Late Model division are in the running for a pair of $500 bonuses when Marshalltown Speedway hosts the Deery Brothers Summer Series on Tuesday, June 2. The Miller Lite 50 tour event pays $3,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Former promoter Steve Priske, now the owner of Rumour’s Bar & Grill in Marshalltown, will also pay a $500 bonus to the highest finishing Late Model driver who competed at Marshalltown between 1985 and 1990, plus another $500 bonus if that driver can win the main event. Jeff Aikey of Cedar Falls, a seven-time tour champion, took home both bonuses from the Deery feature held last year, during the track’s 50th anniversary season. Kay becomes first to repeat with Deery checkers at Boone

BOONE, Iowa (May 25) – Justin Kay became the first repeat winner this season in the Deery Brothers Summer Series, on the night Richie Gustin nearly raced to his first IMCA Late Model tour victory. Gustin caught the defending series champ on the white flag lap Monday at Boone Speedway and had the edge as the front pair charged down the backstretch. The yellow flag was thrown for a spun car in the upcoming set of turns, however, and Kay got the front spot back for the restart as the leader of the last scored lap. Jeff Aikey caught Gustin for second but couldn’t challenge Kay, who topped the green, white, checkered finish by two car lengths. The $3,000 win was the series career 11th for Kay, who also banked the $250 Sunoco Race Fuels feature qualifier drawing prize. Deery Series is bound for Boone on Memorial Day

BOONE, Iowa – Still looking for a repeat winner this season, the Deery Brothers Summer Series travels to Boone Speedway for its traditional Memorial Day show next Monday, May 25. Corey Zeitner, defending champion Justin Kay, Joel Callahan and seven-time IMCA Late Model tour champ Jeff Aikey each have single series wins so far. IMCA Empire State Series at Black Rock, Skyline this weekend

DUNDEE, N.Y. – Two Memorial Weekend events are on tap for the IMCA Empire State Series. Traveling IMCA Xtreme Motorsports Modifieds are at Black Rock Speedway in Dundee on Friday, May 22 and at Skyline Raceway in Cortland on Sunday, May 24. The Black Rock feature pays $500 to win plus lap money. The Skyline show pays $400 to win. A minimum of $75 will be paid to start each night. Black Rock opens the pit gates at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand at 5 p.m. on Friday. Hot laps are at 6:25 p.m. and racing gets underway at 7 p.m. Grandstand admission is $12. SLAYTON, Minn. (May 18) – Murray County Speedway hosts first-night action when the IMCA North Star Touring Series opens with three events during the Memorial holiday weekend. The fourth annual tour is at Slayton on Friday, May 22; at Arlington Raceway on Saturday, May 23; and at Redwood Speedway in Redwood Falls on Sunday, May 24. Long haul pays off for Northeast Shootout winner Ward

By Jay Fish WEEDSPORT, N.Y. (May 3) – Nine and a half hours, 33 competitors and 35 grueling laps were what it took for Ionia, Mich.’s A.J. Ward to capture $2,500 and some impressive hardware in Weedsport Speedway’s inaugural IMCA Modified Northeast Shootout. “I didn’t come 9-1/2 hours for nothing,” a triumphant Ward declared, celebratory rifle in hand, a gift from Weedsport Speedway management for the Empire State Series event winner. “Stuff happened so fast, they bobbled, I shot the gap and next thing I know, I had the lead,” Ward recounted of his move for the lead with just six laps to go. Dundee, N.Y.’s Rich Karlnoski had led the previous 29 circuits when disaster struck. Karlnoski’s luck and suspension all broke into pieces and he’d have to settle for a 14th place finish. Aikey adds Hershel Roberts Memorial trophy to Deery collection

EAST MOLINE, Ill. (May 3) – The driver with the most feature wins in 28-plus seasons of Deery Brothers Summer Series history now has a trophy from the Hershel Roberts Memorial to add to his collection. Jeff Aikey slipped past defending IMCA Late Model race winner and tour champion Justin Kay on the 14th of 58 laps Sunday at Quad City Speedway. He led the rest of the way in collecting his 64th career Deery victory and a $3,000 payday at the fifth annual event Kay set the fast pace for the first 13th circuits, then chased Aikey in heavy lapped traffic before finishing on his back bumper. Sunday show at Quad City Speedway next for Deery Series

EAST MOLINE, Ill. (April 28) – Quad City Speedway’s Hershel Roberts Memorial is next on the Deery Brothers Summer Series schedule. The Sunday, May 3 IMCA Late Model tour event at East Moline pays $3,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. This is the fifth annual Roberts Memorial, held in honor of the long-time driver, car owner and Quad City Speedway Hall of Famer. Ray Guss Jr. of Milan drove for Roberts and won the 2011, 2012 and 2013 events. Justin Kay of Wheatland, Iowa, topped the Roberts Memorial last May, earning a victory that helped propel him to the 2014 tour title. Hamilton County Deery rescheduled for July 23

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (April 24) – The Deery Brothers Summer Series event rained out last Saturday at Hamilton County Speedway has been rescheduled. Touring IMCA Late Models will join the July 23 Thursday Night Thunder program at Webster City. The evening’s main event pays $3,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Regular weekly classes will also run during the county fair show. The rescheduling results in a midweek doubleheader as the series is at Quad City Speedway in East Moline, Ill., on Wednesday, July 22. Quad City Speedway is also the next Deery destination.
