Allen races close to home, collects Kennedale checkers

KENNEDALE, Texas (Oct. 7) – A wet weekend forecast in Kansas convinced Chase Allen to race closer to home. That decision proved to be good for $2,500. URSS prepares to wrap up season at 81 Speedway

WICHITA, Kan. – The Myers Engine United Rebel Sprint Series National Series will put a wrap to the 2017 season this Saturday night, Oct. 14 when it makes its second and final appearance of the year at C. Ray Hall’s 81 Speedway in Wichita, Kan. With 12 different winners in the 15 races held this year, the parity and competition in the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car series is second to none. This race will be no exception as Zach Blurton leads the Rebels into town. A great field of cars is expected as several entries from Nebraska and Oklahoma will make the trip for the $1,000 to win, minimum $200 to start event. Racing starts at 7 p.m.

MASS winner at Grandview earns half a grand

By Erika Palmai Wagner BECHTELSVILLE, Pa. – This Saturday, Oct. 14, the Engler Machine and Tool Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series will make its way for the final time this season to the high-banked Grandview Speedway. IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars will be one of three divisions competing during the Thunder on the Hill Triple Thunder Thriller special. Unlike past years, where this event was invitation only to drivers in the top 25 in points, all teams are eligible to compete. Freiberger Excavating, title sponsor of the second heat race at each MASS event, has upped the main event another $750, making it $500 to win and $165 to start. MASS title in hand, Wagner leads charge to Grandview

Smith makes last-lap pass for Keystone checkers

PORT ROYAL, Pa. (Oct. 7) – Kyle Smith traveled from Massachusetts to win Port Royal Speedway’s Keystone IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car Challenge Saturday night. The victory came as part of the Blue Collar Classic and Smith became the 18th different winner in 37 PASS events in 2017. Keeton flies to first win in Virginia Sprint Series finale

By Jim Haines SHENANDOAH, Va. (Sept. 30) – Mike Keeton was fast at the front and stayed there all the way to his first win Saturday on the final night of the 20th annual Virginia Sprint Series. The IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car checkers came Saturday at Shenandoah Speedway, ahead of Jerald Harris and Anthony Linkenhoker. The feature-only event rolled off with Bill Rice and Keeton on the front row. When the green flew, Keeton stayed high while Rice was on the bottom and hugging the line. Keeton got free on lap two and Harris came with him on the top side and went for the lead lap after lap while leaving Rice to deal with Linkenhoker. Pavement races really fly by and Harris was keeping close but not getting alongside while Linkenhoker made it to third. Photos needed for post-season certificates, cash

VINTON, Iowa – Sending a photo of their car to IMCA is guaranteed to get eligible drivers a $50 gift certificate. Doing so will may also be worth $500 in cash. Drivers in all IMCA divisions displaying 10 or more Karl Performance heat win decals on their car are eligible to receive a $50 gift certificate from the high performance parts supplier. In addition, Dirt Defender and Stephenville Starter each give $250 to a driver selected at random from the IMCA Modified, Stock Car, Southern SportMod and Northern SportMod ranks who wins 10 or more weekly heat races and submits a photo of their car displaying use of two Dirt Defender mud covers. That driver also receives a free Stephenville Starter-manufactured starter. All awards will be presented during the IMCA national banquet in November. 11th annual Showdown is Sept. 28-30 at Kennedale Speedway Park

KENNEDALE, Texas – IMCA Modifieds and Scoggin-Dickey Southern SportMods race for $1,500 to win, IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars both for $1,000 to win at Kennedale Speedway Park’s Summit Racing Equipment Showdown special Sept. 28-30. Rain can’t dampen Great Lakes Nationals win by Wonch

CRYSTAL, Mich. (Sept. 17) – That rain early in Sunday’s Great Lakes Nationals main event at Crystal Motor Speedway didn’t bother Austin Wonch a bit. Wonch was running third when the precipitation started, and ran the 10 or so track packing laps that followed confident he’d be able to work his way to the front of the IMCA Modified field. After doing just that, Wonch led the last 45 of 50 laps and took the $3,000 checkers ahead of John McClure. A.J. Ward, Mitchell Hunt and Myron DeYoung rounded out the top five in the typically stellar Great Lakes Nationals field. Snake River Roundup this weekend at Idaho Falls

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho – The Snake River Stock Car Association is proud to present the Snake River Roundup on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 22 and 23 at Idaho Falls Raceway. IMCA Modifieds will race 30 lap features for $1,000 guaranteed to win both nights with a minimum 10-car field.
