Stuart Speedway has new promoter, new race night

STUART, Iowa – One of IMCA’s longest tenured tracks has a new promoter and a new race night beginning this season. Mike Van Genderen will be in charge of Wednesday night race programs at the Stuart Speedway. Work on reconfiguring the 1/4-mile clay oval has already started and will resume when weather and track conditions permit. Midweek shows will feature IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts. “Stuart has a very strong IMCA tradition,” said Van Genderen, who completed his purchase of the track in November. “It’s a pretty darn nice facility with good lighting and a beautiful concession stand. Marriott starts 10th, finishes first in midweek IMCA Modified feature at LVMS Dirt Track

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Feb. 27) – Hunter Marriott worked his way up from the 10th starting spot to take the $1,000 checkers at Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s midweek special for IMCA Modifieds. Marriott passed Travis Peery for the lead just after halfway in the Dirt Track 20-lapper. “It’s cool,” Marriott said following his first sanctioned win of the season and career 56th in the division. “I love coming to Vegas and I enjoy racing here.” Marriott was already on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Tri-City Motor Speedway launches into ninth season

AUBURN, Mich.– Tri-City Motor Speedway is dropping the green flag on the 2019 season opener Friday, April 26. The entertainment hot spot has packed the schedule full of action all the way through the season finale. IMCA Modifieds run weekly at Auburn for the ninth consecutive season and are part of the Dirt Works Eastern Region. Families will be looking forward to getting their kids involved in the fun. Spring Showcase set March 8, 9 at Canyon

By Tony Steele PEORIA, Ariz. – The Spring Showcase will kick racing action off once again at Canyon Speedway Park for the 2019 season Friday and Saturday, March 8 and 9. The IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing point season will begin for the IMCA Modifieds, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars with the big doubleheader. Defending champions Chaz Baca Jr. (Modifieds), Speedy Madrid (SportMods) and George Fronsman (Stock Cars) will all look to get a jump start at defending their crowns. On Friday, the gates are scheduled to open at 5 p.m. with the first green flag at 7:30 p.m. Saturday will see gates at 5 p.m. and first green flag at 7 p.m. Admission prices are $25 for adults. US 36 Raceway updates 2019 schedule, announces inaugural Missouri IMCA Nationals

OSBORN, Mo. – An updated 2019 schedule for US 36 Raceway has been posted. Highlighting the update is the addition of the Missouri IMCA Nationals. The Missouri IMCA Nationals will take place Oct. 9-12 and will feature IMCA Modifieds, IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods. More details about this event will be released at a later date. US 36 Raceway is also making an effort in 2019 to allow each regular division three or four nights off during the course of the season. Due to that, adjustments have been made for various dates throughout the season. Drivers, teams and fans please review the updated schedule to review what nights which division has off. Rasmussen rules opener for Western RaceSaver Sprint Series

HANFORD, Calif. (Feb. 23) – Opening night checkers flew for Kyle Rasmussen in the Friday night lidlifter for the Western RaceSaver Sprint Series at Keller Auto Speedway. Rasmussen led the last 10 circuits of the 25-lapper for IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars after starting sixth. The winner in his first IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing point season outing of 2019, Rasmussen was chased across the stripe by Mike Schott and Brooklyn Holland. “I had a really good handling car. I could put it wherever I wanted and it worked,” he said. “The engine my grandfather (Ron) built in-house was a monster.” Rasmussen made the top line work in the first set of turns and ran the middle to bottom on the other end of the track. Lyons takes promoter’s post at Cocopah

SOMERTON, Ariz. – Three IMCA divisions will run weekly this season at Cocopah Speedway, under the direction of new promoter Benji Lyons. Friday and Saturday point shows run through Sept. 14 and feature IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods. “This facility is probably one of the top 10 in the country,” Lyons said. “This is a racing town and the people here really support this track.” Sixty-two loads have been added to the 3/8-mile oval with another 40 or so coming before opening night. Modifieds at Cocopah are part of IMCA’s Larry Shaw Race Cars Western Region. Texana adding IMCA Modifieds to Saturday shows

EDNA, Texas (Feb. 26) – Interest generated by a Modified race held at Edna last fall led to the IMCA division being sanctioned there this season. IMCA Modifieds join Saturday programs at Texana Raceway Park beginning with opening night on March 30. Another 13 events are scheduled at the 5/16-mile clay oval through season championship night on Sept. 28. “There was a lot of interest. We polled the drivers and it was unanimous that they wanted to go with IMCA,” said promoter Rachel Densman, who purchased the track two years ago with her husband Kenny, a former Modified driver. “IMCA is a well-known organization. Late Models become fifth IMCA division racing Saturdays at Off Road Speedway

NORFOLK, Neb. – IMCA Late Models will have another regular weekly home in the Cornhusker State. The newly sanctioned division joins four other IMCA classes on Saturday programs at Off Road Speedway. “We’ve been looking for an organization with solid motor and tire rules,” said promoter Jerry Pospisil, who met with IMCA President Brett Root and Vice President of Operations Jim Stannard before announcing his decision to sanction. “IMCA has a complete set of rules that are pretty well cut and dried.” The 1/3-mile dirt oval in Norfolk had been part of a Late Model series with other tracks in eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa. Former track champion Dolan takes promoter’s post at Dawson County

LEXINGTON, Neb. – Back when he was winning IMCA track championships at Dawson County Raceway, Chad Dolan didn’t give a thought to promoting. Now that he’s in charge of the 3/8-mile dirt oval at Lexington, he’s looking for ways to give fans and drivers their money’s worth and then some. “My vision is to give people the wow factor. If we can do that on opening night May 19, we won’t have anything to worry about,” he said. “I’m excited to give people in Central Nebraska something they haven’t seen at Dawson County Raceway before.
