Plum picks up sweet prize in non-fendered voting for June

By Ryan Clark SIOUX CITY, Iowa – One of the original 54 Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod drivers to compete at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s in 2005, Aaron Plum said he’s in the sport simply to have fun. The veteran from Sioux City, who owns his own sign shop, is the June winner of the Sybesma Graphics IMCA Facebook Fan Favorite contest for non-fendered divisions. Plum, who has had his share of ups and downs this season, isn’t focused on chasing wins and points. “We’ve had our feature wins and we’ve raced for points in the past,” said Plum, who is in his 10th year in the division. “We’re focused on having fun with everything right now.” Despite his up and down season, Plum realizes you need to accept the bad nights on the track to have a greater appreciation for the good nights. “We’ve had some heat wins and some good finishes but we’ve broken some stuff too,” he stated. “It could be a lot better, but it also could [Read More]

FAIRMONT, Minn. (June 20) – For most of the race’s 18 laps, Derek Green gave serious thought to trying the extreme high line to get around Dan Mackenthun. Mashl readies for Clash at the Creek with another win

By Greg Aregoni FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. (June 21) – Sometimes racing is like baseball with timely hitting. Or as they say, “Getting hot at the right time.” If that is a true statement then IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified driver Mike Mashl is golden for this week’s Clash at the Creek. Mashl has won the last two features that he has participated in at 141 Speedway. Adam Reed gave Mike Mashl everything he could on the opening lap. Unfortunately for the rest of the field, that would be the last battle for Mashl on his way to his second consecutive win. Mashl led through a variety of cautions throughout the first half of the race. Troy Jerovetz mounted a charge before the final caution came out with R.M. Van Pay in tow. Mashl stayed in front of everyone as it looked like a finishing order in the top three from Luxemburg Speedway from the 1990’s. Mashl took the win in front of Van Pay. Brian Mullen charged to a third place run. Brad Lautenbach wound [Read More]
