IMCA SportMod Mayhem is Saturday at Dodge City

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – Mayhem and a potential big cash giveaway to a lucky fan along with numerous other giveaways are on tap for Saturday night as racing action kicks back into high gear atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval in southwest Kansas. The Aug. 24 card is headlined by the popular sixth annual IMCA SportMod Mayhem event with the IMCA SportMods battling it out for a $1,000 winner’s share. Dan Shepherd Memorial Stock Car Shootout set at Canyon

PEORIA, Ariz. – IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars both race for $1,000 to win on night two of Canyon Speedway Park’s inaugural Dan Shepherd Memorial. The Sunday, Sept. 1 Modified main is a qualifying event for the 2020 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational and pays a minimum of $100 to start. The 77-lap Stock Car feature pays a minimum of $75 to start.  Also on Sunday, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks race for $500 to win, Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $250. On Saturday, Aug. 31, Modifieds race for $750 to win, Stock Cars for $500, Hobby Stocks for $250 and Sport Compacts for $150. Six points separate top three drivers as West Liberty show is next for Deery Series

WEST LIBERTY, Iowa – The points race going into the night is every bit as close as the racing will be when the Deery Brothers Summer Series travels to West Liberty Raceway this weekend. The Saturday, Aug. 24 IMCA Late Model tour feature pays $2,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start.  Consistent Andy Eckrich has four top-five finishes through the first seven events of the season and brings the series point lead to town. Joel Callahan and Matt Ryan have each won once and sit four and six points out of first, respectively. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Saturday. IMCA national champions, top rookies earn awards from 10-year sponsor RH2

RIVERSIDE, N.J. – RH2 marks a decade of IMCA sponsorship this season, continuing an awards pro­gram benefitting top drivers in all eight sanctioned divisions. Super Nationals deadline for early registration now Aug. 29

Big excitement guaranteed at RaceSaver Nationals, today is final day to pre-enter at $15 discount rate

EAGLE, Neb. – The competition is already guaranteed to be top-rate at the seventh annual RaceSaver Nationals Aug. 29-Sept. 1.  But Eagle Raceway and event promoter Roger Hadan hopes to see even more entries for the event with the Big Wings, Big Excitement billing.  “We’ve got right around 100 drivers from 16 states pre-entered for this year’s event,” noted Hadan. “A lot of them have competed here before. Hurst leads every lap in race to Quincy Deery checkers

QUINCY, Ill. (Aug. 18) – There was no catching Jeremiah Hurst Sunday night, on a track he’s predictably run well at.  Hurst led all 30 laps in winning the Deery Brothers Summer Series main event at Quincy Raceway. His career fourth IMCA Late Model tour victory was good for $2,000.  “I’ve always run good at Quincy. Rain forces cancellation of Championship Night at US 36 Raceway

OSBORN, Mo. – Due to overnight thunderstorms and more forecasted rain later tonight, US 36 Raceway officials have decided to cancel racing for Aug. 16.  This will conclude the championship chase for the season as US 36 will focus on the remaining specials scheduled for 2019. US 36 Raceway has two big post-season events planned as the Sprint Series of Nebraska joins the Saturday Sep. 28 show. Then on Oct. 9-12, it is the inaugural IMCA Missouri Nationals. Details are being finalized for the two events and more information will be released soon.

Building on success, Berry to raise bar for Super Nationals

NEWBURG, N.D. – He’s already had a season full of career highlights, but Tom Berry Jr. will be looking to raise the bar again at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. “We’re going to go to Boone with the goal of making the show. Once you qualify, you can race hard and try to win the thing,” said Berry, from Newburg, N.D., and most recently winner of Han­cock County Speedway’s Night of 10,000 Stars IMCA Modified man event. “We’re already in the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational and are eligible to qualify for the Harris Auto Racing Race of Champi­ons. I think we’re going to have a pretty good week.” The Oregon native began racing in the Midwest in 2016.
