Jeremiah Hurst led every time around the track in winning the Deery Brothers Summer Series main event at Quincy Raceway Sunday night.

QUINCY, Ill. (Aug. 18) – There was no catching Jeremiah Hurst Sunday night, on a track he’s predictably run well at. 

Hurst led all 30 laps in winning the Deery Brothers Summer Series main event at Quincy Raceway. His career fourth IMCA Late Model tour victory was good for $2,000. 

“I’ve always run good at Quincy. When I started running Late Models, it always seemed like I did pretty good, I’ve always been comfortable there.” 

“Of course,” he added, “it always helps to start up front like I did tonight.”

Pole starter Hurst and Matt Ryan, who made his way to second from sixth starting, made their way around the oval on the lower line. 

Jay Johnson made like a rocket in racing from ninth to third, with three-time Deery champion Mark Burgtorf returning to series action on his hometown track and joining him on the higher side. 

A caution with nine laps to go bunched the field back up and Hurst held off all challengers.

Ryan, Johnson, Burgtorf and Andy Nezworski rounded out the top five.

“The track was rough in the heat race but they worked on it and it was about 10 times better in the feature,” Hurst said. “This was a good win. It definitely makes the ride home better.”

Hurst became the sixth different winner in seven events so far this season. 

Winner of Sunday’s $250 Sunoco Race Fuels feature qualifier drawing was Nezworski. 

Next on the IMCA Late Model tour schedule is a $2,000 to win event Saturday, Aug. 24 at West Liberty Raceway.

Boone Speedway hosts the 499th event in tour history on Labor Day Monday, Sept. 2, opening night of the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. When bonus money is figured in, the Boone checkers will be worth as much as $3,500.

Deery Series headlines midweek show at CJ Speedway

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa – The Deery Brothers Summer Series makes another much-anticipated return to CJ Speedway to headline the Wednesday, July 17 midweek special. Touring IMCA Late Models will race for $2,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start at Colum­bus Junction, where pit gates and the grandstand open at 4:30 p.m. Racing follows 7 p.m. hot laps.  Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, $7 for students ages 11-17 and free for kids 10 and under. Hurst gets best of Benton County Deery Series foes

VINTON, Iowa (June 28) – It wasn’t that long ago Jeremiah Hurst wasn’t sure about his future in racing. On Thursday, he was in victory lane telling all about his Deery Brothers Summer Series win at Benton County Speedway. “This is awesome. It’s my first win since my heart attack (last July). Aikey’s new ride passes Deery Series test, Maquoketa checkers are tour career 69th

The 56-year old veteran put his fairly new ride to the test early in Tuesday evening’s 50-lap Deery Brothers Summer Series feature at Maquoketa Speedway.
