Dan Shepherd Memorial Stock Car Shootout set at Canyon

PEORIA, Ariz. – IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars both race for $1,000 to win on night two of Canyon Speedway Park’s inaugural Dan Shepherd Memorial.

The Sunday, Sept. 1 Modified main is a qualifying event for the 2020 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational and pays a minimum of $100 to start. The 77-lap Stock Car feature pays a minimum of $75 to start. 

Also on Sunday, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks race for $500 to win, Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $250.

On Saturday, Aug. 31, Modifieds race for $750 to win, Stock Cars for $500, Hobby Stocks for $250 and Sport Compacts for $150.

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, E3 Spark Plugs State and track points will be awarded both nights. Pill draws both days are $25 for Modifieds and Stock Cars, $15 for Hobby Stocks and $10 for Sport Compacts.

Spectator admission is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and military with ID, and free for 11 and under. Pit passes are $35 for adults, $20 for kids ages 7-11 and free for six and under. All minors must have a signed release form on file. 

Pit gates are open all day Saturday and Sunday and will be cleared in the afternoon. The grandstand will open at 5 p.m. and the drivers’ meeting will begin at approximately 5:45 p.m., with track packing and hot laps to follow. Race time is 7:30 p.m. 

The Friday, Aug. 30 open practice running from 7-9:30 p.m. There is no charge for general admission to the grandstand. Pit passes are $20 or free for kids ages 11 and under with a signed minor release form.

Shepherd, who passed away last year, was a long-time Arizona racer and track official. His car number was 77. More information about the Shepherd Memorial Shootout is posted on the www.canyonspeedwaypark.com website.Free dry camping is permitted at the track for the event.
