Cameron holds off Kuehn in Stock Cars at Winston

WINSTON, Mo. (Sept. 21) – Jake Cameron scored a close win in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division at I-35 Speedway. Cameron and Greg Kuehn battled wheel-to-wheel for the entire race with Cameron edging Keuhn by a mere car-length at the line to take the feature victory. Point leader Dean Wray was third with Brad Whitney and Gene Stigall rounding out the top five. With cautions plaguing the early going of the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod feature, several cars found the pits and did not return to action. When the smoke cleared, a familiar face found victory lane for the third time this season. Jeremy Pittsenbarger picked up the feature victory while holding off the hard charge of Mitch Booher. Hogge collects big IMCA Modified paycheck at Ocean

WATSONVILLE, Calif. (Sept. 20-21) – Maybe it was the effort from holding off Ryan McDaniel and Jeff Taylor that had Bobby Hogge IV breathless at the end of Ocean Speedway’s Pat Pettit Memorial Shootout. Or maybe it was the rooftop celebration that followed Hogge’s $15,003 win Saturday evening at Watsonville, in the top-paying event for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds. The victory produced the career best payday for Hogge, who had to keep McDaniel and Taylor at bay in a green, white, checkered finish to the 50-lap main event. “I don’t know if I took a breath after the last caution,” he said. “I didn’t know if it was going to give them an opportunity or me time to make a mistake. IMCA Stock Cars headline Sept. 28 Jackson Nationals

JACKSON, Minn. – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $1,500 to win at the 35th annual Jackson Nationals on Saturday, Sept. 28. The Stock Car feature doubles as Jackson Speedway’s seventh annual Doug Cellan Memorial and pays a minimum of $100 to start. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods all chase $1,000 top checks and $100 minimum to start money. Mach-1 Sport Compacts vie for $500 to win and a minimum of $50 to start. The Modified main is a qualifying event for the 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot and all applicable points, including track, will be awarded. Six IMCA features produce six different winners at World Nationals

By Jeremy Fox MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Sept. 20-21) – Six sanctioned features resulted in as many different winners at Marshalltown Speedway’s World Nationals special. Friday victories went to Donavon Smith in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Carter VanDenBerg in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Jamie Songer in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Saturday checkers flew for Kyle Vanover in the Stock Cars, Tony Dunker in the Northern SportMods and Austin Luellen in the Hobbies. Both Stock Car and both SportMod features paid $1,000 to win. The Hobby Stock features paid $500. In the opening night Stock Car feature, it was Todd Reitzler grabbing the lead right after the first lap was scored. Robert Stofer took over until lap four, when Smith worked his way from ninth to take the front spot away. Aikey wins Deery finale, Harris clinches IMCA series championship

DAVENPORT, Iowa (Sept. 21) – Jeff Aikey raced to his tour-career leading 61st feature win and Brian Harris clinched his career first Deery Brothers Summer Series championship Saturday night at Davenport Speedway. Aikey passed Justin Kay with eight circuits to go in the 40-lapper, then ran away from the rest of the field enroute to the $3,000 checkers. The seven-time IMCA Late Model tour king also went home with the $250 Sunoco Race Fuels feature qualifier drawing prize and another $99 check from Ideal Ready Mix for perfect series attendance. Kay was runner-up to Aikey in the finale and to Harris in the point standings by 25 markers. Harris redrew 12th and fell back in the pack before driving all the way back to third. Independence Deery rained out, series ends Saturday at Davenport

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (Sept. 20) – Tonight’s Deery Brothers Summer Series event at Independence Motor Speedway has been canceled. Three inches of rain fell overnight in the Independence area. What is now the 16th and final event of the 2013 IMCA Late Model tour will be held on the half-mile dirt oval at Davenport Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 21. Hometown driver Brian Harris brings a 26 point lead over Wheatland’s Justin Kay into the $3,000 to win, minimum $300 to start finale, during Davenport’s All-Star Classic. Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m., with hot laps at 6:30 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m. Spectator admission is $17 for adults, $16 for seniors and students, and free for kids 10 and under when accompanying a paying adult.

Dacotah Speedway’s annual Drive to Survive raises $8,420

BISMARCK, N.D. – Dacotah Speedway’s fifth annual Drive to Survive is the Mandan race track’s most successful cancer fundraiser to date. “Through gate receipts, hat and T-shirt sales, event sponsorship and donations, and an intermission auction, Dacotah Speedway raised $8,420 to fund patient support services for the Bismarck Cancer Center Foundation,” said Beau Simmons, track promoter. The event was sparked in 2008 when Cody Miller, a track official, issued a challenge to local driver David Falkenstein. Miller, who had recently lost his mother-in-law to breast cancer, remarked that drivers should paint their cars pink like other athletes wear uniforms of that color to support cancer fundraisers. Falkenstein agreed and pledged to go pink in exchange for a charitable contribution. The first event raised $500. Over the past five years, the Drive to Survive has raised approximately $15,000.

$2,000 top prizes in three IMCA divisions at Lubbock’s Fall Brawl

LUBBOCK, Texas – The winners of three IMCA main events take home $2,000 checks from Lubbock Speedway’s Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20-21 Fall Brawl. Two grand is the top prize for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks run for $1,000 to win. The total purse is more than $22,000. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded in all four divisions. Regional points will also be awarded to Modified, Stock Car and Hobby Stock drivers. Pit gates open at 5:30 p.m. Friday and at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
