Modified Reinhart Memorial slated May 24 at Quad City Speedway

EAST MOLINE, Ill. – First place in the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature pays $1,000 at Quad City Speedway’s Sunday, May 24 Gary Reinhart Memorial. The 22nd annual special is a 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Belleville Motorsports North Central Region, Allstar Performance State and local track points will be awarded for the draw/redraw show. Pit gates at East Moline open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 3:30 p.m. The draw ends and the drivers’ meeting starts at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 5:15 p.m. with racing to follow. Entry fee is $40 and pit passes are $25. Grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and free for five and under. Reserved seating is $14. Long tow for Hawkeye Dirt Tour opener pays off for Wolla

VINTON, Iowa (May 19) – Rain in North Dakota was bad news for drivers in Iowa Tuesday night at Benton County Speedway. Jason Wolla made a last-minute decision to travel 14-plus hours from his hometown of Ray, in western North Dakota, for the opening event in IMCA’s Hawkeye Dirt Tour. He started 11th, took the lead from Mark Elliott following a 13th circuit restart and outran defending champion Mike Van Genderen in traffic late in the 40-lapper. IMCA Modified winner earns $2,000 at Jackson County’s Open Wheel Challenge

MAQUOKETA, Iowa – The driver who proves up to the challenge earns $2,000 in Jackson County Speedway’s Memorial Weekend special for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds. The Saturday, May 23 Open Wheel Challenge at Maquoketa is a qualifying event for the 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational and pays a minimum of $100 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Belleville Motorsports North Central Region and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded. Entry fee is $50. Other sanctioned divisions running, for all applicable points, will be the IMCA Late Models, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. SANTA MARIA, Calif. – A pair of $1,200 to win features for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified features are on programs for the May 23 and 24 Budweiser Spring Nationals at Santa Maria Raceway. Both Saturday and Sunday races are qualifying events for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Race Cars Western Region, Allstar Performance State and local track points will be awarded. Entry fee is $50. Pit passes are $40. Tafoya reigns at Idaho Falls Dirt Wars

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (May 15) – Before Friday night, Regan Tafoya had never won an IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature in the State of Idaho, and he’d never won a feature in a torrential downpour. Now he’s done both. Tafoya led the all but the first circuit in the Dirt Wars main event at Idaho Falls Raceway shortened from 30 to 20 laps due to deteriorating visibility and track conditions. The $1,000 victory put him on the ballot for this September’s Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. “I always thought Idaho Falls owed me one,” said Tafoya, after taking the checkers ahead of Jake Donnelly and Joey Price. “We went up there in 2003 to race for regional points and my steering wheel fell off while I was in the lead with three laps to go. DAVENPORT, Iowa – The winner earns $2,000 for his or her on-track efforts at Davenport Speedway’s IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified Madness 50 on Friday, May 22. The 50-lap feature is a qualifying event for the 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. DUNDEE, N.Y. – Two Memorial Weekend events are on tap for the IMCA Empire State Series. Traveling IMCA Xtreme Motorsports Modifieds are at Black Rock Speedway in Dundee on Friday, May 22 and at Skyline Raceway in Cortland on Sunday, May 24. The Black Rock feature pays $500 to win plus lap money. The Skyline show pays $400 to win. A minimum of $75 will be paid to start each night. Humphries gets second Virginia Sprint Series win of season

By Jim Haines WAYNESBORO, Va. (May 16) – Tom Humphries had just enough time to get in and out of the winner’s circle before the rains came Saturday night at Eastside Speedway. The first repeat winner in the 2015 Virginia Sprint Series, Humphries took the checkers about five minutes before thunderstorms brought an end to the evening. After rain delayed the race program, Chris Ware and Bill Rice took off and led early as the IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Car field shuffled positions in the fast-paced feature. Ware led running the middle line as Humphries made his way to second, then went low and into the top spot on lap 10. Jerald Harris challenged and then took second from Ware before setting his sights on Humphries. Glenn Worrell and French Grimes were coming through the field as the laps clicked by.
