Shryock scores first Hawkeye Dirt Tour win at Southern Iowa Speedway

By Jeremy Fox OSKALOOSA, Iowa (July 15) – Kelly Shryock continued the trend of new Hawkeye Dirt Tour winners Wednesday night at Southern Iowa Speedway. Not only was he the fifth winner in as many series events this season, it was Shryock’s first career win on the tour for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds. A qualifying event for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot, Shryock was already vote eligible. Fresh off his Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Mod Tour championship, Ricky Thornton Jr. redrew the pole and took the early advantage in the 25-lapper. His time out front was short-lived as Shryock grabbed the lead away just prior to a lap three caution. Shryock continued to pave the way with Cayden Carter pursuing and Kyle Strickler making his way through the field. Strickler worked the low side past Carter with three laps to go, however he came up a couple car-lengths short of Shryock at the line. Carter ran third. Shryock became the fourth different series winner in four events held all-time at the speedway. Other [Read More]

Williamson edges Wauge in classic Howard Memorial finish

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (July 11) – Eight one hundredths of a second made the difference between first and second Saturday night at Cottage Grove Speedway’s Mark Howard Memorial Nationals. Jesse Williamson flashed across the finish line just ahead of Mark Wauge for the $2,600 Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified victory. He now leads all drivers with five Howard Memorial career wins to his credit. Tom Berry Jr., Curtis Towns and Jeremy Shank completed the top five. Williamson, who started 10th, overtook Trenchard on lap 14. The first 26 laps went non-stop before the field was halted for the mandatory pit stop at halfway. Williamson was pressured later in the race by Collen Winebarger, who tried an inside move on the leader but spun and restarted at the rear. Towns made the bottom of the track work and completed his pass for the lead on lap 42. Williamson got the lead back on the next circuit, just in time to face the challenge from Wauge. Harris follows quick heat showing with Shenandoah Speedway win

By Jim Haines SHENANDOAH, Va. (July 11) – After his heat race, it was plain to see Jerald Harris was fast and a definite threat to win Saturday’s Virginia Sprint Series main event at Shenandoah Speedway. Harris stayed on pace all night to score another pavement victory and his first IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Car tour win since May 2. Bill Rice and Tony Harris paced the field to green. Rice was out first with Tony Harris in tow but by lap five Jerald Harris was on the charge, making his way to second and was all over Rice. Rice was getting tight, causing him to go high, and Harris turned left and went under him and to the front. That was the race as Harris cruised to the win one of many at Shenandoah Speedway. Tom Humphries, a two-time winner earlier this season at Shenandoah, and Brian Lawson were scored next. Feature results – 1. Jerald Harris; 2. Tom Humphries; 3. Brian Lawson; 4. French Grimes; 5.
