Wahl Traction signs on as new sponsor for IMCA special events

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – A company that got its start six years ago renting shocks to race car drivers is a new sponsor for IMCA special events this season. Wahl Traction of Las Vegas, owned by Sonny Wahl, gives gift certificates good toward two shock rebuilds to top five finishers at 30 Modified and 15 SportMod specials. “I’ve been a driver and I’ve been a promoter. I’ve always been a fan of IMCA and one of the reasons why is because their rules are so consistent,” Wahl said. “I have customers who race on asphalt and complain that their rules are always changing, and that costs them a lot of money.” Wahl had worked for a now-defunct NASCAR team before deciding to open his own business, located in the industrial complex near Las Vegas Motor Speedway. “I liked the idea of having my own business and this was a great opportunity for me,” he explained. “It started as a shock rental business and grew from renting out four shocks every weekend to 120.” He built [Read More]

PASSCAR opens 20th season Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway

PERRIS, Calif. – After a successful 20th anniversary season opener for sprint cars at Perris Auto Speedway last Saturday night, the Riverside County clay oval will kick off the 20th anniversary PASSCAR season this Saturday, March 14. Saturday’s show will feature Super Stocks, Street Stocks, American Factory Stocks and the highly anticipated return of the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds. Drivers competing in the division will earn points not only for the PAS IMCA Modified track championship, but also toward IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing national, regional and Allstar Performance State point standings. Mohave Valley wins helping Parmeley set early pace in race for IMCA rookie awards

PHOENIX, Ariz. – It didn’t take long for John Parmeley to get his IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified figured out and dialed in. The top driver in current Larry Shaw Racing Western Region and national rookie of the year standings, Parmeley raced to his career first win in the division on Feb. 21 at Mohave Valley Raceway. He returned to the same venue to earn his second checkers on March 7. “I was not expecting to get a win this early in my Modified career. To get two already is kind of unreal,” admitted Parmeley, 17 years old and a senior at Boulder Creek High School. “My first feature win has definitely been the highlight of the season so far. When I came across the finish line, it was unbelievable.” Son of long-time driver Joe Parmeley and younger brother to J.C. Parmeley, IMCA’s Western Region rookie of the year in 2012, he raced a local pure stock – similar to an IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock but with Hoosier G-60 tires – before moving up to [Read More]
