Memorial Day opener for Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour

VINTON, Iowa – A familiar tour for IMCA Modifieds totes higher payouts at each of its eight race dates and a bigger point fund when the 2018 season is complete. The Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour opens on Monday, May 28 at Benton County Speedway. A minimum of $2,000 will be paid to win and $200 to start each tour feature, with the champion earning a $1,500 share of the nearly $10,000 point fund. “This will be the seventh time we’ve started the tour at Vinton. Deer Creek is destination for history-making 27th annual Harris Clash

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. – History will be made when one of the premier events for IMCA Modifieds travels to one of the premier tracks in the Midwest this summer. Deer Creek Speedway hosts the 27th annual Harris Clash on Tuesday, Aug. 7. IMCA Modified Madness at Davenport pays $2,000 to win

DAVENPORT, Iowa – IMCA Modifieds chase a top check of $2,000 along with a berth on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational at Davenport Speedway’s Friday, May 18 Modified Madness 50 special. The main event pays a minimum of $100 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Side Biter Chassis North Central Region and Iowa State points, but no track points will be awarded. Modifieds are draw/redraw. There is a $50 entry fee. Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 5:45 p.m. with racing to follow. Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and students, and free for kids ages 12 and under. Pit passes are $30. IMCA Late Models and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods are also on the program that evening, vying for all points. All racing will be on the quarter-mile oval. IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars headline Saturday show at Phillips County

HOLYOKE, Colo. – Contrary to other reports, IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars will race Saturday, May 12 at Phillips County Raceway in Holyoke. All series, state and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National points will be awarded. The previous reported June 2 rainout date was incorrect. RaceSaver Sprints will race for $1,000 to win and a minimum of $200 to start and no license other than IMCA RaceSaver is required to compete in the Sprint Series of Colorado kickoff. Other sanctioned divisions at Holyoke will be the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors 65 and over, military and First Responders with ID, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and free for five and under. Royal Flush Rush feature win pays Zoubek $1,000

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (May 5) – Bob Zoubek put his name on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot with a $1,000 IMCA Modified win Saturday at Eagle Raceway’s Royal Flush Rush. Zoubek had started 10th and took the checkers ahead of Jeff Schroyer. “The track was really racy. There were two lines and they were both fast,” he said. “We just kind of came through there nice and slow and stayed out of trouble. Jeff kind of had the better line for awhile there, but I finally got around him and drove away a little.” Nate Thompson, Schroyer, Jaxon Saathoff and Justin Wulf had led the field after the initial lap. Quad City win is Deery Series record tying fourth straight for Kay

EAST MOLINE, Ill. (May 6) – A driver who’s been in a class by himself joined another exclusive group Sunday night. Justin Kay won the Deery Brothers Summer Series feature at Quad City Speedway, his third victory in as many IMCA Late Model tour outings this season and record-tying fourth straight Deery win dating to the 2017 finale. Previous winners of four straight Deery features were Gary Webb in 1994, Rob Toland in 2004 and Brian Harris in 2013. Kay dominates Deery at Maquoketa

MAQUOKETA, Iowa (May 5) – Once he got in front, there was no catching Justin Kay in Saturday’s Deery Brothers Summer Series main event at Maquoketa Speedway. Kay started in the second row, slipped inside leader Terry Neal on the 12th circuit and led to the finish of the IMCA Late Model Tour feature. “Terry moved up to get by a lapped car and that’s when I was able to pass him,” Kay said. “Any time you get an opportunity like that, you have to be ready.” The sole caution of the 50-lapper came out with three circuits to go and Kay by then handily ahead of Neal & Co. Rust, Thornton hustle to $1,000 High Banks wins

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (April 26-27) – Joel Rust hustled his way to the $1,000 checkers Thursday night at Marshalltown Speedway. Ricky Thornton Jr. did the same on Friday. Rust and Thornton were IMCA Modified winners at Marshalltown’s season-opening Twin High Banks Hustle. While Thornton was already on the ballot, Rust’s victory made him vote eligible for the upcoming Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. After drawing the outside pole, Rust had to hold off Hunter Marriott late in the contest. Ninth starting Tyler Droste, Tim Ward and Ethan Dotson completed the top five. Thornton went from last on Thursday to first in the Friday feature, leading every lap and winning ahead of Marriott, Cayden Carter, Kyle Brown and Richie Gustin. MAQUOKETA, Iowa (May 1) – The only weekend doubleheader of the season is next for the Deery Brothers Summer Series, with $2,000 to win events on Saturday, May 5 at Maquoketa Speedway and Sunday, May 6 at Quad City Speedway in East Moline, Ill. The second and third installments of the tour for IMCA Late Models both pay a minimum of $300 to start. Pit gates and the grandstand both open at 3 p.m. Saturday at Maquoketa. Hiatt hauls home opening night hardware, Grabouski gets two Saturday wins at Eagle

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (April 20-21) – Defending track champion Shane Hiatt raced his way to victory lane on opening night of Eagle Raceway’s Ice Breaker Challenge. Former track champion Jordan Grabouski accomplished the feat twice on night two. Hiatt earned $1,000 and a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth along with Friday’s IMCA Modified main event. Grabouski, already on the ballot, was best in Saturday’s $2,000 to win headliner and pocketed another $500 for winning the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. The leader from the drop of the Friday night green, Hiatt ran ahead of Mike Densberger much of the distance before his challenger pulled into the infield with five circuits left. After a couple late restarts, Hunter Marriott wrestled the second spot from Grabouski. Dylan Smith and Eddie Belec completed the top five. Saturday featured another field filled with heavy hitters as Grabouski had to take the front spot away from Marriott and hold on.
