Gustin capitalizes on late-race opportunity for Dirt Knights Tour triumph at Kossuth County

ALGONA, Iowa (Aug. 1) – In the right place at the right time, Richie Gustin won Thursday’s Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour main event at Kossuth County Speedway.  A bobble with three laps left by Jeremy Mills opened the door for Gustin, who zoomed by to take the $1,500 checkers and his fourth win of the 2019 IMCA Modified tour. Mills ended second in the caution-free contest. Austin Wolf, Ryan Ruter and Corey Dripps completed the top five in the county fair show. Hard charger Cody Laney advanced 10 positions. Already on the 2020 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot, Gustin now has a tour career best 12 feature wins. BOONE, Iowa – Nine IMCA Modified drivers make career-first starts while three former race win­ners look for new success in the 16th annual Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour gets top billing at Kossuth County Fair

ALGONA, Iowa – The Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour returns to Kossuth County Speedway for top billing at the Thursday, Aug. 1 county fair show.  Traveling IMCA Modifieds run for $1,500 to win, plus a 2020 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth.  IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods all run for $1,000 to win and Mach-1 Sport Compacts complete the program at Algona. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and E3 Spark Plus Iowa State points will be awarded. Track points are also at stake for the Stock, Hobby, SportMod and Sport Compact divisions.  Pit gates open at 5 p.m. and drivers should use the south entrance. Aug. 23 is deadline for Super Nationals pit stall reservations

BOONE, Iowa – Pit stall reservations for the 37th annual IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s must be made by noon on Friday, Aug. 23. Modified, Stock Car, Hobby Stock and Northern SportMod drivers must be pre-entered before they make pit stall reservations. Pit stalls at Boone Speedway are $100 and must be reserved online. In the event a driver does not show up as scheduled, their pit stall will be issued to another driver.  A waiting list will be started for overflow and drivers who cannot be accommodated will receive refunds. VINTON, Iowa – It’s Super Tuesday and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational voting is underway. Twenty-eight of the 30 IMCA Modified drivers to start the All-Star race, to be held Sept. 6 at Boone Speedway during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s, will be elected today. All ballots will be cast the IMCA Facebook page with the electronic polls open until 9 p.m. CST. “The All-Star Invitational is a fan favorite and one of our most prestigious races. VINTON, Iowa (July 29) – IMCA Modified candidates have today to do last-minute campaigning before Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballots are cast.  Twenty-eight of the 30 drivers starting the All-Star Invitational will be elected on Super Tuesday tomorrow, July 30: All voting will be through the IMCA Facebook page with the electronic polls open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. CST.  The top three vote recipients from each of the five Modified regions are guaranteed starting spots, with their region of candidacy determined by where they made the majority of their IMCA sanctioned starts. The next 13 drivers with the highest vote totals, regardless of region, become All-Stars.  Completing the field will be drivers with the top national point total and with the most 40-point feature wins as of Aug. 29 competing at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Deery Series has new point leader for Friday show at Lee County

DONNELLSON, Iowa – There’s a new point leader when the Deery Brothers Summer Series makes its much anticipated return to Lee County Speedway this Friday. The Aug. 2 event at Donnellson is the fifth installment of the 2019 IMCA Late Model tour. Joel Callahan of Dubuque is one of the four different drivers with series wins thus far and put his name at the top of the point standings with a fifth place finish last Wednesday at West Union. Friday’s main event, the 495th in series history, pays $2,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start.  Pit gates are open all day. IMCA Harris Clash returns to Deer Creek Speedway Aug. 6

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. – The Harris Clash returns to Deer Creek Speedway on Aug. 6, with IMCA Modifieds and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods headlining the 28th annual event. Modifieds race for $3,000 to win, plus a $500 bonus if their chassis was built by a Manufacturers’ Cup participant, along with a berth on the 2020 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Top prize for the Northern SportMods is $1,200. New this year is the 10-lap, $1,000 to win Harris Clash Race of Champions open to all former Clash winners and sponsored by Wehrs Machine and Racing Products. Abelson captures Dirt Knight Tour bounty at BVR

ALTA, Iowa (July 24) – Add a new title to Chris Abelson’s racing resume: Bounty hunter. Abelson led all 30 laps of Wednesday’s Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour main event at Buena Vista Raceway, earning $2,000 for the IMCA Modified feature victory plus the $500 bounty of­fered to the driver who could stop Richie Gustin’s series streak. Abelson drew the pole and tussled with California challenger Cody Laney before and after re­starts on the 18th circuit.  The last 12 laps ran green. Laney stayed close but had to settle for second. Gustin, chasing a record fourth straight tour victory, started seventh and finished third.  Completing the top five were in the Al Ritts Memorial race were Joel Rust and Kelly Shryock.
