Deery drivers make rare visit to Kossuth County for July 2 show

ALGONA, Iowa – The Deery Brothers Summer Series makes an early holiday weekend visit to Kossuth County Speedway for a Thursday, July 2 show. The eighth of 18 events on the 2015 IMCA Late Model tour schedule pays $3,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Darrel DeFrance of Marshalltown has competed at all 441 events in Deery Series history and was the winner back on July 31, 2008, when the tour made its one previous appearance at Algona. Pit gates and the grandstand both open at 5:30 p.m. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. with racing to follow. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults with fans ages 16 and under free. Pit passes are $30. Grizzle sizzles at Tri-City’s Greased Pig 5.0

AUBURN, Mich. (June 19) – Heath Grizzle put the sizzle into Tri-City Motor Speedway’s Greased Pig 5.0 special. The Michigan native and Arkansas transplant regained the lead from Myron DeYoung in topping the $1,055 to win Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds. DeYoung, still in pursuit of his 100th career win in the sanctioned division, was close behind in second. Joe Fowler, Gary VanderMark and Ken Zeigler completed the top five. Grizzle drew the pole start and led the first seven circuits before DeYoung used the lower line to get past. Two laps later, Grizzle found an opening and took the lead right back. DeYoung and A.J. Ward were close behind for much of the 37-lapper. Grizzle had a DNQ and a third to show for his two previous outings at Tri-City this season. Ten locked in for $10,000 to win Clash at the Creek IMCA Modified main event

By Greg Aregoni FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. – Ten Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified drivers have punched their tickets into tonight’s $10,000 to win Clash at the Creek main event at 141 Speedway. Johnny Whitman will have the pole for the 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier with Justin O’Brien to his outside. Eric Mahlik and Russ Reinwald comprise row two, Brad Lautenbach and Shawn Kilgore row three. Tim Czarneski starts inside row four with Benji LaCrosse gunning for IMCA Modified career win number 100 from the outside. Rookie Brian Irvine and James Tebon fill row five. Seventy-four IMCA Modifieds ran two sets of Wednesday heats that saw the top 10 in passing points automatically make up the front five rows. Meyer leads flag to flag at IMCA Northern SportMod Nationals

BRITT, Iowa (June 23) – Even though he’d led the first 15 laps, Nick Meyer’s crew was sure they could make his car even faster for the second half of Tuesday’s MaxYield Seed IMCA Northern SportMod Nationals at Hancock County Speedway. After changing four tires, tightening the car up and topping off the tank during the mandatory pit stop at midway, Meyer proved them right. He led to the checkers and took home a check for $3,500. “We won on opening night at Spring Nationals in Beatrice and that was big, but this win is bigger,” said Meyer. “It’s definitely my biggest win money-wise.” Eighth in the special for Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods in 2013 and seventh last summer, Meyer started the 30-lapper from outside row one. Belec proves up to Challenge at Lincoln County

By Kelly Ninas NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (June 22) – Eddie Belec led the lap that counted the most in winning Monday evening’s Wild West Challenge headline event at Lincoln County Raceway. Belec started on the pole and chased Jay Steffens for most of the 20-lap Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified main event. He slid under Steffens out of the final corner and captured both the $1,000 checkers and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth. Steffens, John Hansen, Jeremy Frenier and Anthony Roth completed the top five in the NebraskaLand Days show. Jason Rogers and Shawn Harker took home $750 checks for IMCA Sunoco Stock Car and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod victories, respectively. Jake Olmstead was the $500 IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock winner and Ramsey Meyer’s Mach-1 Sport Compact win paid $400. Winebarger tops finale, Williamson is Wild West Modified Shootout champion

By Ben Deatherage LEBANON, Ore. (June 20) – After catching Jon DeBenedetti, Collen Winebarger raced to a $1,000 payday in the final event of the Wild West Modified Shootout at Willamette Speedway. Once in front, Winebarger cruised to the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified victory and a spot on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Jesse Williamson clinched his third career tour title in four years with a 10th place showing. DeBenedetti began building what appeared to be a comfortable lead before Winebarger drove by coming to the stripe on lap eight. Winebarger took off from the main pack from that point. A long green flag run that lasted 29 circuits put traffic into the mix but Winebarger would handle the traffic with ease. A caution on lap 30 bunched up the field one last time with no lapped traffic between the frontrunners. Early registration, pit parking applications are recommended for 33rd Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa – The IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s continues to be the biggest and best event in all of dirt track racing. So does the need to pre-register and make arrangements for pit parking if you’re planning to be part of the 33rd annual event Sept. 7-12 at Boone Speedway “We highly recommend that drivers do both as soon as possible,” IMCA President Brett Root emphasized. “Car numbers are assigned on a first come, first served basis and drivers will save money by pre-registering.” “Pit area parking is probably the biggest issue we get into this far ahead of Super Nationals,” he continued. “We are working on a schedule for when haulers will be allowed in the pits. Photo finish Wild West Shootout win for Stanford at Willamette

(June 19) – The outcome was decided by all of .017 of a second Friday night as defending Wild West Modified Shootout champion Alex Stanford continued his tour success at Willamette Speedway. Ryan Gaylord led most of the way in the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified main event before Stanford moved from the middle to the higher line. The front pair came out of the final turn door handle to door handle. Stanford eked just inches ahead to take the $1,000 victory, The Shootout victory was his first this season, Stanford’s tour career sixth and fourth straight win at Willamette during Speedweek competition in a streak dating from 2013. Greater Grand Forks Fair has two dates for IMCA Modifieds

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Two events for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds are on Greater Grand Forks Fair race programs. Both Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27 features at River Cities Speedway pay $500 to win and a minimum of $70 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Belleville Motorsports North Central Region and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded each night. Tow money is $25. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. Racing on the 1/3-mile clay oval starts at 7 p.m. Grandstand admission during the fair is $5. Pit passes are $25. Five IMCA divisions run at Wild West Challenge special

(June 18) – A $1,000 to win feature for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds takes top billing at Lincoln County Raceway’s Monday, June 22 Colton & Conner Memorial Wild West Challenge. The Modified feature is a qualifying event for the 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot and pays a minimum of $150 to start. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods both race for $750 to win and $100 to start. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks vie for $500 to win and $100 to start, Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $400 to win and $50 to start, plus a $200 cash dash. Tow money is $75 for Modifieds, $50 for Stock Cars and Northern SportMods, $40 for Hobby Stocks and $30 for Sport Compacts.
