Friesen Performance adding to super support of IMCA Super Nationals with $63,000 in new awards

SUTTON, Neb. (Aug. 9, 2023) – Give Al Walters credit for a super idea leading up to the Sept. 4-9 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The sales manager at Friesen Performance has come up with the single richest slate of awards for competitors at the 41st annual Super Nationals, as the Sutton, Neb., race shop gives a staggering total of $63,000 in product certificates to drivers in divisions with the crate engine option. The 24 Northern SportMod and 24 Hobby Stock drivers advancing to their respective Saturday night main events from qualifying features, plus six ‘wild card’ recipients chosen at random each receive $500 certificates, good toward the purchase of a 602 crate engine from Friesen’s. And the 24 Modified drivers advancing to their Big Dance from qualifying features, six drivers in the Late Model main and another six ‘wild card’ drivers each get $1,000 certificates, which can be applied when purchasing a 604 crate. “We’ve been doing something like this with individual IMCA tracks and promoters on a much smaller scale,” explained [Read More]

Let the good times roll – IMCA cars, drivers, fans are Boone Bound for Sept. 4-9 Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa – There’s no exact number yet but this is guaranteed: The cars – race cars, not the band – are coming to Boone Speedway. Nearly 650 drivers from 27 states and three Canadian provinces are already pre-registered for the 41st annual IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s Sept. 4-9 at Iowa’s Action Track, and the goals of every one of those drivers are to win the most prestigious championship in dirt track racing and have a good time while they’re doing it. “The general format for Super Nationals remains the same. We are still working on little tweaks to make sure that from the time racers pull into the pits and park their hauler or fans get their campers situated, to the time they go home that they have a good time,” said IMCA President Brett Root. “Most people come to Super Nationals to have a good time and that’s what we want, too,” he added. “It’s a great week for us and we want every driver and every fan to have the [Read More]

Oskvig’s goal is to do Super Nationals race director job so well no one notices

BOONE, Iowa (April 11, 2023) – The goal Grant Oskvig has for his new job is to do it so well nobody notices him. The veteran track official and former flagman is the new race director for the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.  He’ll be in charge of organizing cars on the track, making calls, dispatching tow trucks and ultimately everything that happens on the Boone Speedway oval during the entire week of dirt track racing’s biggest event. “The number one thing is consistency. Drivers need to know what to expect from me when they’re on the track,” said Oskvig, who moves one office to the right in the grandstand tower after running transponder scoring at Super Nationals the last three years. “To be consistent without my name being brought up would be amazing.” “One of the things I like best about Super Nationals is that it brings so many drivers from across the country and Canada to race at Boone. It makes them all better and faster,” he added. “It’s also [Read More]
