(Aug. 5) – The 12th points race of the season Tri-State Speedway was a night of repeat winners with young Kayden Menasco becoming the first to reach the five-win mark on the season. Menasco notched his fifth local IMCA Modified win of the season over Jason Peyton and Michael Hines.
CRYSTAL, Mich. (Aug. 5) – Chance Allen of Alma picked up the win in the Lane Automotive IMCA Modified feature Saturday at Crystal Motor Speedway. Mitchell Hunt was second and Myron DeYoung took third.
By Brian Neal DONNELLSON, Iowa (Aug. 4) – Jeff Waterman, John Oliver Jr. and Brandon Lennox cashed the big checks following their IMCA features wins Friday, on night two of Lee County Speedway’s Summerfest special. Waterman regained the lead on the 23rd circuit to earn the $1,000 IMCA Modified checkers and 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth. Oliver led all but the opening circuit to take the $1,000 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers ahead of Jeff Mueller and David Brandies. Twenty-four Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods took the green flag in their main event and Lennox took the $1,000 win by half a car length over the 18th starting Tony Dunker. Brandon Reu paced a caution-free Mach-1 Sport Compact main event.
LaCROSSE, Kan. (Aug. 4) – A cloud of dust is how Adam Gullion ended his night. But it came in celebration, not disappointment. Gullion did multiple donuts in celebration Friday night after winning the United Rebel Sprint Series Bullring Nationals at Rush County Speedway, in his first trip to the quarter-mile track. “It’s been a really good trip,” said Gullion. “There’s nothing better than winning. It definitely makes the ride home a lot more enjoyable.” If it hadn’t been for an earlier phone call from Zach Blurton, Gullion might have been racing elsewhere Friday night – or not at all. MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Aug. 4) – Three drivers matched last week’s trip to victory lane Friday at Marshalltown Speedway. Johnathon Logue returned to the winner’s circle in the IMCA Northern SportMod class. He started 12th in the line up, and was running a distant second to Adam Shelman, when a yellow with three laps remaining became the game changer. When the race restarted, Logue saw his chance and was able to move under Shelman and take the lead. The IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks came to the track next for their feature event, and it was a familiar face back in victory lane as Shannon Anderson took the win. Anderson started 10th and had to battle by stiff competitors to get to the front. Damon Murty three-peated in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, sailing home to a comfortable win as he circled the rim of the track. By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (Aug. 4) – Nick Roberts mastered the IMCA Modified main event Friday at Stuart Speedway. Scott Bash and Cory Sauerman led the field to green next with Sauerman ahead of Todd VanEaton early on. The top two stayed in formation until Roberts passed VanEaton on lap nine. One lap later, Roberts took over the lead and slowly checked out to take the win. Sauerman finished second with Jeff James third. Lapped traffic helped Marcus Fagan’s cause as he caught Scott Bailey for the lead and eventual IMCA Sunoco Stock Car victory. Austin Luellen led the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature from the seventh lap to the checkers. A three-way fight to the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock checkers went to Gregg Anderson. Curtis Miller blasted into the lead on lap two and checked out on the rest of the field to take the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature win.
By Brian Neal DONNELLSON, Iowa (Aug. 3) – Michael Long took the lead on the eighth circuit and held off Cayden Carter in the late going to win the IMCA Modified feature Thursday at Lee County Speedway. The Summerfest opening night checkers paid $1,000 and put Long on the ballot for the 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational Abe Huls worked his way up from eighth starting to the $1,000 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers, besting Johnny Spaw and Damon Murty. Also working his way up from a mid-pack starting spot was Austen Becerra, who pocketed $1,000 for the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod victory. Carter VanDenBerg and Tony Dunker rounded out the top three. Josh Barnes topped the $300 to win Mach-1 Sport Compact main.
By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (Aug. 3) – Six-foot-tall trophies and $1,000 checks went to three IMCA winners at Kossuth County Speedway’s county fair show Thursday night. Hunter Marriott made his first appearance at Algona and that was bad news for the other 20 IMCA Modified drivers. Marriott built the comfortable lead each time and cruised to the easy Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying victory. Todd Shute was a distant second and Tim Ward placed third. The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars had the most exciting race of the night as Bruce Wickman grabbed the early lead while Jake Masters stayed right on his bumper. Derek Green joined in the battle in lap number five as Chad Palmer made it a four-car breakaway for the lead one lap later. Wickman continued to hold the trio off but finally with four laps to go, Green wrestled the lead away and went onto his fourth feature win at the oval. DELTA, Colo. – Ricky Alvarado didn’t realize the magnitude of his career 100th IMCA Modified win until he saw the reception waiting for him in victory lane. Alvarado collected the landmark checkers on July 29 at Montezuma County Fairgrounds Speedway. He’d been runner-up the night before at Cortez to Aaron Spangler, the only other Colorado driver to reach 100 wins in the division. “There were a lot of people who were all about this win. After I pulled into victory lane and saw their emotions, I realized what a big deal it was,” said Alvarado, from Delta. “None of us ever dreamed we’d pull this off. My dad always believed in me and to see the pride in his face was really something.” The win was Alvarado’s eighth in 15 starts so far this season. PORT ROYAL, Pa. – Pre-registration for race number five of the Beer Hill Cup Series has topped 40 as IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car teams look forward to a beautiful Saturday night at Port Royal Speedway. Aug. 5 is Slivinski Law Office Salute to the Military/Fan Appreciation Night at Port Royal and adult general admission is $10 for the evening race program. All veterans and active military personnel with proper ID receive free grandstand admission Saturday night and PASS American flag decals will be available to these honored guests. Student admission is $7. Beer Hill Cup shirts for sale and a number of shirts will be given away during the program. Jake Waters will be the guest announcer and have some special announcements of upcoming events for the series.
