Yankee opening night is in the books

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa (Aug. 31) – The 40th annual Yankee Dirt Track Classic got underway on Thursday with qualifying in both the IMCA Modified and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod divisions. Both divisions qualified 12 cars for their big Saturday night Yankee championship features.  A dozen more cars in each division will earn a starting spot through last-chance races early Saturday. Friday racing will start at 6:30 p.m. and features Deery Brothers Summer Series IMCA Late Models and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Saturday’s start time has been moved up to 5:30 p.m. and will kick off with last-chance races, followed by opening ceremonies and all big features, including the 100-lap, $10,000 to win Yankee Dirt Track Classic for the Deery Series, which is expected to take to the track at 9 p.m. Modified Qualifiers 1st heat – 1. IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Nationals qualifying starts tonight at Eagle 

EAGLE, Neb. – Teams from across the country have traveled to America’s Home Track for this weekend’s IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Nationals. Friday, Sept. 1 and Saturday, Sept. 2 qualify­ing features at Eagle Raceway pay $700 to win while Saturday’s Jake Ita Memo­rial pays $1,000 to win and a minimum of $100 to start. The Sunday, Sept. 3 main event pays $2,500 to win and a minimum $1,250 to start. Twenty-seven IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars will start the big show on Sunday. The “B” feature purse spon­sored by IMCATV is $1,000 for the first non-qualifier (10th place fin­isher) and $500 to start. All other non-qualifiers re­ceive a minimum of $250 for Sunday with added non-qualifier sponsorship money. Non-qualifi­ers are guaranteed at least $450 for the entire weekend as long as they take a green flag each night. Adult grandstand admission is $13 on Friday, $15 on Satur­day and $18 on Sunday. 2017 Super Nationals

Super Nationals pre-registration deadline is noon on Friday, Sept. 1 

BOONE, Iowa – Pre-registration deadline for the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nation­als fueled by Casey’s will be at noon CST on Friday, Sept. 1. “Drivers in all divisions racing at Super Nationals can call the home office (319 472-2201) to regis­ter early and save $20. Modified, Stock Car, Hobby Stock and Northern SportMod drivers also make themselves eligible to race in the Sept. 2 Prelude at Boone Speedway,” said IMCA Presi­dent Brett Root. “I encourage all drivers who are planning to race at Super Nationals to pre-regis­ter if they have not done so already.” More than 700 early entries are now in hand for the Sept. 4-9 Super Nationals. The updated list of pre-entries will be posted on the IMCA website prior to the event.

Deery drivers chase $10,000 paycheck at Farley’s Yankee Dirt Track Classic

FARLEY, Iowa – The top paycheck of the Deery Brothers Summer Series is on the line this weekend, as touring IMCA Late Models headline the 40th annual Yankee Dirt Track Classic at Farley Speedway. The Saturday, Sept. 2 100-lap main event pays $10,000 to win and a minimum of $600 to make the 24-car starting field. 40th annual Yankee Dirt Track Classic goes green at Farley

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa – Farley Speedway is set to host the 40th annual Yankee Dirt Track Classic this week. The milestone event will be a tribute to Yankee founder Al Frieden. The late-season event was started in 1978 under the direction of race promoter and visionary extraordinaire Frieden. The event has continued to grow and is held annually at Farley Speedway, which was owned and oper­ated by Frieden from 1989 to 2000. The three-day racing event gets underway on Aug. 31 with Open Wheel Thursday, featuring qualifying racing for the IMCA Modifieds and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and a full race program for the INEX Legend Cars. Friday night, Sept. 1 will be billed as Full Fendered Friday with qualifying for the Deery Brothers Summer Series IMCA Late Models and the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. IMCA sponsors fill Manufacturers’ Row at Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa – Nearly 40 vendors will be represented on Manufacturers’ Row during the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. IMCA sponsors will offer a wide range of high performance products for use during the week of Sept. 4-9. Biggest dirt track event on the planet has super-sized purse 

BOONE, Iowa – A super-sized purse will be paid to competitors in the biggest dirt track event on the planet, the Sept. 4-9 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s The 900-plus drivers coming to Boone Speedway from coast to coast and border to border, as well as Canada, earn shares of a purse nearing $300,000. Luxemburg crowns 2017 champions

(Aug. 25) – Todd Dart earned his first-ever Luxemburg Speedway IMCA Modi­fied title on Friday while Devin Snellenberger put his name in the record books as he cap­tured his first track championship in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division. The Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods saw a repeat champ as Randy LeMieux Jr. took home top honors. Nick Everard came out on top in the Mach-1 Sport Compacts. A total of 119 cars checked in to do battle on season championship night. Dave Zeitler led every lap of the caution-free IMCA Modified feature and Kyle Frederick returned to victory lane in the Stocks. Kelsy Hayes regained the lead with a white flag lap pass of Tailar Ness to win the SportMod main and Shaun Bangart passed Mitch Mier with two laps remaining to win the Sport Compact feature.

Stewart scores $1,000 IMCA Modified win at 34

By Brian Neal WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa (Aug. 26) – Steve Stewart’s first IMCA Modified win of the season at 34 Raceway came Saturday night, along with a check for $1,000 and a berth on the ballot for next year’s Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Stewart passed Jeff Waterman on the 16th of 20 circuits in the Victory Lane Suspensions IMCA Modified main, then pulled away from the field. Waterman ended in second and Rich Smith was third. Abe Huls also posted his first 34 Raceway win of the season in the Pepsi IMCA Stock Car head­liner. Tom Bowling Jr. challenged the last three laps and ended a close second. Austen Becerra held off Brandon Lennox for his seventh local Casebine Credit Union IMCA North­ern SportMod victory of 2017. Coming up Saturday, Sept. 2 at 34 will be the Pepsi Season Championship Night, along with $5 Fan Appreciation Night. Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m., the grandstands open at 5 p.m., hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m.

LINCOLN, Neb. – EMi hosts an open house from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30 at its 300 Speedway Circle location in Lincoln. Race teams and fans attending the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Nation­als are invited. Practice for fifth annual event is on Thursday, with racing on Sept. 1-2-3 programs.
