URSS Rebels headed to Dodge City 

DODGE CITY, Kan. – After two weeks off for drivers to compete in the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Nationals and a weekend to regroup, the Myers Engine United Rebel Sprint Series will return to Dodge City Raceway Park for the fifth annual Jerry Soderberg Memorial this Saturday, Sept. 16. Sellers scores at Sprint Series of Oklahoma’s Pat Suchy Memorial

(Sept. 8) – Robert Sellers took advantage of race-long leader Loyd Clevenger’s misfortune to capture the $1,250 Sprint Series of Oklahoma IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car victory at Red Dirt Raceway’s Pat Suchy Memorial. Clevenger had motored into the lead following an early restart and pulled away again following a mid-race yellow before encountering traffic on lap 16. With 10 laps to go, Clevenger’s lead had shrunk to three car lengths. The complexion of the race changed when Clevenger and the lapped car of Cody Jarvis got to­gether entering turn three with Clevenger taking a tumble. Tristan Oakes was also involved but unlike Clevenger was able to return. Sellers found himself in the lead for the ensuing restart. He held off a fast closing Andy Shouse to take earn the victory. Steven Shebester was third while Gary Owens and Joe Wood Jr. rounded out the top five. Albert Auto September Spectacular Sunday at Benton County 

VINTON, Iowa – Top prize for IMCA Modifieds at Benton County Speedway’s Sunday, Sept. 17 Albert Auto Service September Spectacular is $1,000. The headline event is a qualifier for the 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods both race for $500 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $300 to win. Completing the sanctioned portion of the program are Mach-1 Sport Compacts. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly racing National, regional and All-Star Performance State points will be given at the draw-redraw show. All heat race winners get $25 from Albert Auto, which also provides three gift cards for the grandstand drawing. Drawing prizes will also be given to young fans who get to the track early enough to get a numbered checkered flag. Pit gates at Vinton open at 4 p.m. and racing follows 5:30 p.m. hot laps. 25th annual Tiny Lund Memorial this weekend at Shelby County Speedway

HARLAN, Iowa – Shelby County Speedway’s 25th annual Tiny Lund Memorial features five IMCA sanctioned divisions on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15 and 16 programs. Top checks on opening night are $700 for the IMCA Modifieds, $400 for the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, $350 for IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and $150 for Mach-1 Sport Compacts. Saturday features pay $1,000 to win for the Modifieds, $850 for the Stocks, $750 for the SportMods, $500 for the Hobbies and $250 for the Sport Compacts. The Saturday Modified feature is a qualifying event for the 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Park Jeff hosts Sept. 15, 16 Iron Cup

JEFFERSON, S.D. – The fourth annual Iron Cup presented by J&J Fitting will be held Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15 and 16 at Park Jefferson Speedway. On Thursday, the track will host a test and tune session that incorporates makeup features in the Schaeffer Oil IMCA Northern Sport Modifieds, J&J Fitting IMCA Stock Cars and the SignMasters IMCA Modified divisions. These features will award Allstar Performance State, regional and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National points. The races will be made up from the Aug. 19 event that was rained out. Drivers in any class can also take advantage of the test session. Grandstand admission will be free and pit passes are $10. MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – Marshalltown Speedway puts the exclamation point on the 2017 season with an event surrounded by dollar signs. IMCA Modifieds run for $10,000 to win at the World Nationals special Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 14-16. The 11th annual event is open to Modified competitors using claim or crate engine options, pays a minimum of $500 to start and is a qualifier for the 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Chris Simpson becomes 100th different Deery winner at Yankee Dirt Track Classic 

FARLEY, Iowa (Sept. 2) – Along with a unique place in Deery Brothers Summer Series history, Chris Simpson enjoyed a $10,000 run to the checkers at Farley Speedway’s 40th annual Yankee Dirt Track Classic Saturday night. Simpson regained the lead with 28 circuits to go in the 100-lap main event, then held off Joel Callahan and Justin Kay following a late restart to win his IMCA Late Model tour career-first feature. He also became the 100th different driver to win a feature over the course of the series’ 477-event history. “It was kind of a good night for us,” said Simpson, who put a car he built and borrowed from Jason Rauen in victory lane. “This is a series that has been around for a long time. Martin tops opening night Sprint Nationals qualifier

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (Sept. 1) – Jason Martin continued his Eagle Raceway tear on opening night of the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Nationals. The winner of the last two regular season features at Eagle, Martin topped the Friday qualifying feature, earning $700 and the pole position in Sunday’s $2,500 to win main event. “I think our chances Sunday are as good as any. You’ve got to lose it a few times in order to win it, I guess, so I think we’re as good as we can be right now,” said Martin, who ran third in last year’s Sprint Nationals main after winning the Jake Ita Memorial feature. Abelson takes IMCA Modified win at MoTown Showdown 

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Sept. 1) – Chris Abelson reeled in a flying Josh Gilman en route to the $1,000 IMCA Modified win at Marshalltown Speedway’s Friday night Showdown at MoTown. Abelson took charge jut after halfway in the 25-lapper and pulled away. The race was halted on lap 23 after Canadian driver Kody Schlopp took a tumble off of turn four.  When the race went back to green for the final two circuits, Abelson again drove away from the competition. Already on the 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot, he finished well ahead of second place Clint Luellen. Third went to 18th starting Joel Rust, Kelly Shryock came from 17th starting to finish fourth and Tim Ward completed the top five.
