Arnold Motor Supply Midwest Madness Tour primed for June 29-July 5 run

HARLAN, Iowa – Big paydays for IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars are on the line each night of the inaugural Arnold Motor Supply Midwest Madness Tour. Both divisions run for at least $1,000 to win at each show during the June 29-July 5 tour. Modified features are qualifying events for the 2019 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Minimum start money is $150 for the Modifieds and $125 for the Stock Cars. All events will be broadcast by racecastlive.com. Opening night is Saturday, June 29 at Shelby County Speedway in Harlan, where Modifieds run for $1,500 to win and Stock Cars for $1,000 to win, in addition to IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and E3 Spark Plugs State points. Harris hustles to Hagerstown IMCA RaceSaver win

By Jim Haines HAGERSTOWN, Md. (June 15) – His return visit to Hagerstown Speedway ended with Jerald Harris in victory lane. Eighteenth in the main event at last month’s East Coast Nationals, Harris showed he had a good handle on the setup he needed on a super-fast sticky track as he went up high on the start and streaked to the Saturday IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car win. David Grube II and Drew Ritchey were second and third, respectively, in the co-sanctioned Laurel Highlands Sprint Series, Pennsylvania Sprint Series and Virginia Sprint Series event. Erin Statler and Harris paced the field to the initial green with Harris staying high and taking the lead with Statler right on his tail and Grube in tow. The 56-year old veteran put his fairly new ride to the test early in Tuesday evening’s 50-lap Deery Brothers Summer Series feature at Maquoketa Speedway. It passed the test with flying colors as he flew to the $2,000 IMCA Late Model tour victory. “I could go anywhere on this track,” the all-time Deery Brothers feature win leader said in victory circle after his 69th career win. “The track was prepared great.” Aikey rolled off third and had the point by lap four, passing pole starter Andy Eckrich. Foulger figuring out Merced, IMCA Modified checkers at Ed Parker Memorial pay $2,028

MERCED, Calif. (June 15) – Slowly but surely, Troy Foulger is figuring out the nuances at Merced Speedway. Foulger raced from sixth starting to win Saturday’s Ed Parker Memorial IMCA Modified main event. His third victory of the season at the Central Valley oval paid $2,028, plus lap money, and landed him on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. “It was awesome,” said Foulger, who split leader Randy Brown and a lapped car to take the front spot on the 19th of 30 circuits. “We ran in traffic most of the way and I tried to get through it as quick as I could.” After an early caution, the race stayed green all the way to lap 27. Bubak is perfect at Dodge City Nationals

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. (June 15) – The Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP 305 Sprint Car Nationals turned out to be a lucrative venture for Arvada, Colo.’s Jake Bubak. After topping both Thursday and Friday preliminary features, Bubak topped the Triple 8 Trucking Dash for Cash to earn the pole position for Saturday night’s 30-lap championship feature atop the Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval. He then led every lap to run his weekend winnings to $6,300 including $1,500 in lap money and the $3,000 feature winner’s share. It wasn’t as easy as it may sound, though, as Jason Martin kept the pressure on throughout and briefly slid past Bubak on a pair of occasions only to have the latter successfully counter the move. Martin first slid past Bubak in turn four momentarily after a lap four restart and then repeated the move in traffic on the 17th circuit. (June 13) – The opening leg of the third annual Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP 305 Sprint Car Nationals picked up right where the 2018 edition left off, with a pair of Jakes slugging it out for the Thursday night feature win atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval. This time, Jake Bubak turned the tables on defending race winner Jake Martens, battling into the lead on the 17th round and racing on to the stripe ahead of Jason Martin and Martens. “I feel like we got one taken away from us last year. Thornton is dynamic in Dirt Duel win at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (June 12) – Another big-money event ended with Ricky Thornton Jr. in victory lane, this time in an IMCA Sunoco Stock Car. The multi-division star raced from eighth starting to win the 50-lap headline event at Stuart Speedway’s Dynamic Drivelines Dirt Duel presented by Sniper Speed & Midstate Machine Wednesday night. The checkers were good for $3,000 and came ahead of Abe Huls and Johnny Spaw. Huls had taken the early lead over Elijah Zevenbergen and Spaw before the yellow flew on lap three. Huls led the next circuit with Zevenbergen taking over on lap five. Zevenbergen led one more lap until he went into a wild spin in turn two to bring out the second and what proved to be final yellow of the night.
